DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, December 8, 2022

DRF Staff|Dec 07, 2022
Aqueduct scenic
Jim Sewastynowicz First post for Aqueduct racing is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. ET on Friday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:10 GP 1st POKER NITE AT TOMS (#3, 9-2) is a 1/2 to 3 time turf winner Commander khai and showed some sharp speed over the Tapeta on several occasions prepping for debut. As good as any in this hard go gauge maiden grass sprint. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:46 AQU 4th HAMMERIN AAMER (#5, 6-1) was in excellent form late last year and through the spring while winning four times during a seven-race span, including a couple of victories over this track and trip; couldn't make an impact vs. several of these same rivals last time but that is not his best distance. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:14 AQU 5th MAMA BANNED ME (#6, 12-1) went long on turf in his debut and put in a late run at a big price after getting outpaced early; showed some potential there and might have been prepping as he has much more of a dirt pedigree. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:36 GP 6th NINJA ABARRIO (#3, 6-1) shortens up to what appears her most effective distance and likely to have plenty of pace to run at with speedsters DEM A WONDER and MY DESTINY in the lineup. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:40 AQU 8th HEY MAMALUKE (#2, 4-1) shipped in here to race at this level back in February and wired a field from the rail with an 89 Beyer, then immediately won a $100k stake in her next start; form has held up since then and she ships back in with the speed. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:30 TUP 5th WEAR THE CROWN (#8, 12-1) is by a 8% debut turf sire. His dam went 4-1-1-0 and earned 37K on the grass (won turf debut). Lone sib never tried the weeds. This gelding has some speed and could like the green. He has passed runners before so that might be an option also. We are expecting a good price. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:02 TUP 6th ANGELA'S ANGEL (#4, 6-1) was stuck in the 10 hole last out and was trying two turns and the turf for the first time. He actually ran OK and did so while shipping in from Mountaineer. Now he cuts back to a dirt sprint and returns to the dirt. Race flow is only average but that isn't enough of a knock for us to dismiss. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:19 WO 2nd LUNATICA (#10, 8-1) exceeded the Beyer par of 57 for this $10K maiden level when second in his lone Tapeta route start two back. He was a beaten favorite most recently on the turnback to seven-eighths, but the homebred could put it all together in this route despite moving up in price. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:48 WO 3rd FACTOTUM (#1, 6-1) got fried in a speed duel most recently in his debut outside the maiden ranks vs. $10K NW2 opposition. His early foot could be more effective after breaking from the rail in this $5K seller. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:05 TUP 8th NOBLE PURSUIT (#3, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:17 WO 4th PIPESTONE (#8, 8-1) is descending from $15K NW3 company to the bottom $5K B level and could prevail under Campos, who teamed up with LeBlanc for a longshot score with Just Start Me Up the other day. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:03 RP 3rd FEARLESS WILL (#5, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mary Rampellini). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:31 RP 4th MOONS MALIBU BARBI (#6, 9-2) is a January foal. She's caught wet tracks in both of her starts to date and those races came against steeper. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

11:51 RP 9th HAPPY IN HEELS (#2, 12-1) has been a picture of consistency - while racing in heels! All kidding aside, she owns the field's best collection of Beyer Speed Figures. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
