DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, December 1, 2022

DRF Staff|Nov 30, 2022
Woodbine scenic
Michael Burns Woodbine's feature on Friday is a 6 1/2-furlong sprint for nonwinners of two that combines Ontario-sired allowance types with $40,000 claimers.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:10 GP 1st ROYAL JUBILEE (#10, 15-1) was well backed debuting for twice this tag on dirt, hesitated at the break, made a little middle move then raced greenly and was not abused late. Has had a chance to work over the lawn at PM and is a half to one turf winner out of a freshman sire who has sent out 3 first on turf winners from only 7 starters. Deserves another chance at what figures to be a square price the second time around. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

12:20 AQU 1st WISECRAKEN (#5, 8-1) is a bit of a guess as he makes his first-ever start on dirt after starting out on the grass. He hesitated at the start of his debut, before making up some ground from last behind subsequent Awad winner Freedom Trail, then showed improved speed in his second start - though his rider wound up taking a hold of him early while trying to get over to save some ground, and he never made a serious run after that; sire was a talented runner on the main track and this colt is a half to the underrated dirt sprinter Night Time. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

2:35 GP 6th FORTUNA BELLE (#7, 9-2) has the benefit of a race under her belt and at six furlongs to boot showing speed before fading late vs. same kind several weeks earlier. Like the fact she's gotten in a little more gate work subsequent to that outing. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

2:44 AQU 6th PREDETERMINED (#9, 9-2) made a promising debut early last year when overcoming a poor start with a strong finish; missed a lot of time following that victory and returned with another solid effort while gaining late ground in a race dominated up front; was only second-best last time behind a longshot, front-running winner but she got out of the gate better in that spot and is perfectly drawn for this. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

3:43 AQU 8th TONED UP (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race

4:05 GP 9th TOSCANITO (#4, 12-1) turned in game effort making promising Tapeta debut now getting some class relief for second try over the surface. Will have to be at his best to upset likely favorite SILENT CHAOS whohas never been better and coming off game showing behind class dropping Express Pharoah last time. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

4:07 TUP 5th LOUDMOUTHSOUP (#4, 5-1) found local foes more to his liking after failing to do much versus better in Kentucky. Or maybe this 2YO is a slow starter. He draws better and goes second time this dirt. That recent work was sharp and 7th best of 47. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

4:37 TUP 6th BET ON DAD (#8, 6-1) is by a 9% debut sire. His dam went 18-5-6-2 and earned 317K. All 5 sibs won with 3 having beat winners (the best pair earned 122K and 202K). Works are well spaced. That November 5th bullet tips hand. We even like this outside post. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

5:37 TUP 8th FAMOUS ROCK STAR (#1, 6-1) did run well two and four back which might bode well for today. This gelding has good speed and often breaks well. We think this guy can steal this race at a good number. Added full furlong help theft plans. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

6:07 TUP 9th MONGOLIAN MEMORY (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race

7:50 WO 7th SILENT GUROO (#1, 6-1) has been in fine front-running form since mid-summer and should take some catching in this seven-furlong starter/optional claimer if the inside is the place to be. Good speed rider Flores is 2 for 8 for the barn. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

8:20 WO 8th CREEMORE (#10, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race

9:03 RP 3rd LOVEY DOVEY (#2, 5-1) gives up recency to these as she last raced in July, but she has seen steeper and owns a series of competitive Beyer Speed Figures. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race

10:27 RP 6th SEIZE THE TREASURE (#10, 5-1) was a winner the last time he raced on dirt and for the effort he earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
