DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, August 11, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:39 SAR 2nd WEEKEND FUN (#6, 8-1) didn't earn a figure for her maiden win in the first attempt sprinting on turf, but that was a game effort while awaiting room and then gamely getting up once getting some; next two starts sprinting on this surface came vs. much better horses in races that were separated by an extended layoff; went seven last time and was chasing up close in a race that went to closers. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:49 SAR 4th COTTON (#6, 12-1) is one of several back in this field from a similar race on the opening Friday of the meet, which was run at a solid pace and wound up going to closers. COTTON used his speed from the inside draw that day, and wound up getting the best of a duel before tiring in the late stages; didn't get a great trip in his return from the layoff sprinting, then sat in and easily burst clear in the stretch to win his next start. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:29 SAR 7th CLAYTNTHELIONHEART (#6, 6-1) makes his third start off the layoff following an improved effort on the drop last time; Bauer is having another solid meet up here from limited starts and he got three solid efforts from this gelding up here last summer. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:12 CBY 1st TOP HAT ARISTOCRAT (#2, 6-1) is by a 13% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). His dam went 38-17-4-2 and earned 244K. This is her first foal. Works are as we expected while the Wong barn is 24% with debut maidens. FLYING SUN is by a 15% debut sire. His dam went 23-2-3-5 and earned 44K. This is her first foal. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:13 SAR 10th SUCCULENT (#11, 10-1) stretched out for the first time earlier in the meet and ran better than it looks in that spot while wide throughout from the back and making a game run through the stretch to get up for 4th; draws outside again but she is steadily advancing on turf and can make things closer if pulling any kind of trip in here. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:22 WO 4th SUPER HEADLINE (#4, 6-1) shook loose on the lead before fading to third when dropping to this level following an extended layoff in his second outing on the Tapeta July 22. He doesn't have much grass breeding, but his speed could make him dangerous with the rail out in lane 4 in this main turf tilt. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:42 CBY 2nd TEXAS LONG BOW (#5, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:00 WBS (Harness) 1st GLENBORO (#3, 7-2) paced a big mile in defeat in the Battle of the Belles final and she draws better than her main rivals here. Top call in the opening leg of the early Pick 5. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:03 DMR 5th Pace-presser SANTOS TO WILSON (#8, 7-2) has a tactical advantage over his chief rivals, those being late-runners DANIEL'S MAGIC and MY SUMMER DREAM. The cutback from six and one-half furlongs on turf to five furlongs on turf benefits 'WILSON, who led to inside the eighth pole last time before being swallowed to finish fifth. The runner-up finish by 'WILSON three back would probably be fast enough, he should get a comfortable trip setting or pressing a tepid pace. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:21 WO 8th BEN'S SUNNY ISLAND (#8, 20-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
