DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, April 27, 2023

DRF Staff|Apr 26, 2023
Aqueduct scenic April 9 2022
Barbara Livingston First post for Aqueduct racing is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.

1:09 GP 2nd EXALTED CHARM (#4, 9-2) caught a couple of next out winners when haltered out of a disappointing showing in December. Has had plenty of works under belt prepping for return including solid gate spin on 4/15. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:24 AQU 3rd SENIOR PRANK (#7, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:36 KEE 4th SPIRITCATCHER (#1, 15-1) has looked much better in her two sprints than her three routes, and since her lone dirt race came around two turns, she might handle the surface better than that performance suggests. Her sharp win two back over 11 foes came at a level not too far below this one, and if she gets over dirt as well as synthetic, she ought to fit this spot at a fair price. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:13 GP 6th SWASHBUCKLE (#7, 5-1) split a next out winner (85 Beyer) and hard knocking Fly the W (87 Beyer in next start) when second best of 10 after controlling all the pace in improved showing last time. Might not look back today. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:28 AQU 5th SEIZE THE CITY (#3, 15-1) only brought $40k last May but looked good breezing a smooth 10.2 there, and he appears to have continued to train forwardly since starting to prepare for his debut earlier this year; also has some pedigree behind him as he descends from one of the better Phipps female families (second dam is a sister to the great Inside Information, as well as multiple Grade 1-winner Educated Risk). -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:40 KEE 6th YO PUEDO (#1, 8-1) last year went sprint debut to $50K maiden-claiming route win second out, and after a solid sprint start to her 2023 campaign, here she comes in a $50K N2l dirt-route claimer. Wire to wire from the rail. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:45 GP 7th LITERATE (#6, 9-2) has been freshened since haltered for high tag in late February but working extremely well over the main for switch to dirt for first time today. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:02 AQU 6th THINKABOUTIT (#6, 8-1) arrived with good form from Florida in February but wound up chasing wide over a track that was favoring inside speed in his NY debut; was compromised by trouble at the start last time when winding up last in a race that was taken gate-to-wire by the talented Secret Rules; one more chance off the Handal re-claim. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:34 AQU 7th BAR FOURTEEN (#7, 15-1) has been most effective in longer races on turf, though he did break his maiden right on the lead going seven at Belmont, and he ran an underrated race here last November going this distance when staying gamely for second despite being carelessly handled while switching out in the stretch, which resulted in a disqualification - after keeping close to a fast pace; faster than he looks and will be a price. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:44 KEE 8th TAKE CARE (#4, 5-1) was somewhat in and out during 2022, but the Ellis Park maiden win over a 1 1/2-turn mile was strong, and she was fourth last fall at KEE going nine furlongs, apparently farther than she wants, in a strong heat. Solid training-center work pattern and the filly might really suit the Beard Course. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
