DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, April 21, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:14 LRL 2nd ALWAYS CHARMING (#1, 12-1) made a solid outside bid into the teeth of a strong pace to make the lead at Aqueduct on Feb. 21. Understandably tired in the final three-sixteenths and seems well-placed for circuit debut. Klesaris barn sent out Aqueduct invader Millean to win at 7 to 2 here on April 3. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:32 KEE 2nd Trainer J Ennis had two baby-race debut winners during Keeneland's spring meet in 2021. 0-2 so far this year but both runners were all right, and maybe LOTTA MOSCATO (#9, 10-1) breaks through with a win. Had a fairly quick gate work over the KEE surface March 30, but it's so hard to tell off the published work pattern in these races. Dam made the races at 2 but wanted turf. Her first foal to race, Proven Hope (Street Boss) has started twice, ran 3rd last weekend in an AQU 7f MSW. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:37 GP 2nd GIRL BYE (#1, 8-1) and mate KRAZYKATKOUSIN have both showed speed, promise in a.m., may vie for top prize with former getting nod if away running best from rail. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:04 KEE 3rd No doubt, LOGICAL MYTH (#2, 5-1) was abysmal in his last two starts, and gelding that had risen from a $40K claim to be come a reliable turf-route stakes performer now is in for a quarter. However, blinkers go back on, and maybe he really, really needs them. Those are notably quick dirt works since his last race, too, and he did win his only dirt start, albeit an off-turf, two-turn contest. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:11 GP 3rd KHOZY MY BOY (#3, 15-1) one of the few older horses in this lineup with big experience edge over younger foes. A non-winning sort much of career but did turn in sharp half mile drill for this. Worth a look at the price. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:22 AQU 3rd PARADE FIELD (#6, 5-1) tailed off toward the end of 2021 but that was after he put together a series of races that would make him competitive in a race like this upon shilling up from Fair Grounds; drops off the claim after just going evenly for $20k in his first start back but he will be a price in here and can contend with one of his good races. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:36 KEE 4th Maybe LOMU (#8, 15-1) isn't good enough / doesn't quite have the turn of foot for a sprint, and, yes, it's weird seeing a 7yo with 9 starts going in an N1X allowance. That said, this race does not looks especially tough for the class level, and, regarding sprints, he was third, albeit going longer than this, making his career debut in a short grass race. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:50 LRL 5th DEMO DOCTOR (#7, 8-1) never received a breather when setting a solid and pressured pace in state-sired allowance. Pushed by several others, he held on well for third behind the two favorites. He'll be tested against open foes, but has the speed to get close to the pace and should be a playable price. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:54 AQU 4th BUSTIN SHOUT (#10, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:28 AQU 5th TASTY WAVE (#6, 12-1) looked like she needed that February debut, where she raced greenly after trouble at the start left her back in last; dropped to this level for her second start and once again got bumped at the break, but she ran an underrated race after that while rushing forward on the outside to chase the pace and continuing wide around the turn; needs to get out of the gate but can have one more chance vs. this field. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:17 GP 7th EASY COME EASY GO (#1, 6-1) has had plenty of experience at a mile or over recently while chasing home Fair Ground Oaks 3rd finisher Favor two back, Gazelle winner Nostalgia in last. Might be worth look at square price in a field loaded with speed. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:38 AQU 7th OUR LAST BUCK (#5, 8-1) might not be able to summon his top race anymore but willing to give him one more chance as he cuts back to sprint and returns to the allowance/optional claiming ranks from an outside draw; thought he ran well in those first two starts off the layoff last summer sprinting at Saratoga, and even his third in the Thunder Rumble on 12/5 was an underrated effort while stuck wide every step; one more chance cutting back in a race where the likely favorites might be a bit overrated. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:51 GP 8th THE CLUB (#7, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:16 KEE 9th The Kenneally barn had a very strong last week at Keeneland and has more to run this week, capping the program with first-time starter SHADY (#12, 8-1). Kenneally himself signed the ticket on the $32K auction buy just a couple months ago. Debuting for $20K in a race with a $36K purse doesn't seem entirely negative. Last spring meet at KEE, barn won with first-timer Convection in a dirt sprint for this same tag, and over the last five years seven of their 11 other KEE starters that fit the category (1sters, MCL) have finished fifth or better. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:23 TUP 7th RAVINA LANE (#3, 6-1) is still a maiden but so are two others. This gelding should like two turns and notice that only one starter in this race has tried two turns. The blinkers go ON and that bodes well for this barn. Trainer stats are good across the board. This gelding exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 55 and 44. Even running style when going short also bodes well for route debut. More than anything we like this barn in this spot. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:45 TUP 10th PENNY'S ANNIE (#9, 6-1) is by a 14% debut sire. Her dam went 10-1-0-2 and earned 25K. Four of five sibs won including three multiple winners (26K, 25K, and 31K). Lots and lots of works along with this outside post all bode well. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:15 YR (Harness) 1st DING DING DINGER (#3, 5-1) was a good second off the claim for Scott Di Domenico a week ago. He drew well again tonight and remains at the same level. – Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
9:20 WBS (Harness) 8th ACAPULCO SUNBURN (#8, 5-2) was sitting in midpack early as the pace dawdled last week, but it didn't matter as he unleashed an impressive first-over back half rally to win going away. He should be tough to beat in NW2 company. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
