12:50 MTH 1st FUNNY MUSIC (#7, 6-1) is the first starter out of the dam, who was winless in five career starts, but what she lacks in pedigree power she makes up for in her connections, as trainer Silvino Ramirez excels with turf sprinters, having won four such races at this meet alone; this is the barn's first debut runner on record, at least over the past five years, but the works do suggest this filly is ready. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

1:00 WO 1st RED SYMPHONY (#1, 6-1) dropped to this $25K maiden class last time off a fade job in her debut and was a leading fourth on the Tapeta. 1:20 MTH 2nd FROMANOTHAMUTHA (#1, 5-1) was up the track in his latest but he was a clear victim of the race flow, racing close-up in the opening stages and fading late in a race that features a severe edge to closers (note the inverted "C" in DRF pp's); he has speed but can also rate, and that versatility should give him some options as he tries to work out a trip from the rail. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

1:50 SAR 4th HEN PARTY (#6, 6-1) has yet to start on dirt, though her form on turf and synthetic is rock-solid, and her pedigree suggests that she might be versatile enough to handle a third surface - her dam won races on all three, and was a Grade 1 winner sprinting on dirt, and her only sibling to date has run well on both dirt and turf, also for this trainer; interesting, but needs the right trip. - Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race

2:05 GP 4th TUTTO PASSA (#1, 6-1) broke last in her debut and got marginal play when sent off at almost 7-1 yet still won. Her Beyer of 56 certainly fits with these if able to improve at all in her second start. Race flow is more than fair and we already know that this 2YO can pass runners. 2:10 CBY 1st RAFFY THE STAKES (#6, 9-2) is by a 6% debut turf sire. Her dam went 2-0-0-0 on the green. Lone grass sib is 5-1-2-0 and earned 129K. Team Rushton are 29% with first turf runners, 21% dirt to turf, and 22% on the green. 2:17 MTH 4th U DIRTY DOG (#2, 6-1) caught the eye with a strong late rally in that loss last time and then returned to run a good race for the place last time, albeit with the aid of a very favorable race flow; lack of speed means he'll need to pass most/all of them in the lane but if the fractions are quick enough he may be good enough. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race

2:59 CNL 6th PREACHA MEYERS (#5, 9-2) switched to turf off a short break for Ness last time out and did not improve, so the trainer will naturally put him back on the dirt with a strong chance for a $50,000 tag; the gelding won four straight races between March and May earlier this year and finished second by a neck in the toughest race of his career in June, earning an 83 Beyer that would easily get the job done here; there's no reason to deny him a chance at another hot streak. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race

3:46 KD 5th GREAT GRENZEN (#9, 8-1) stuck on the AE list last weekend in an open MSW in which none of the AEs drew in, and since I liked her at that level, I surely like her in this restricted maiden. Was taken by this filly's dirt works and picked her to win her debut - she ran all right, not to my expectations, but the family is pretty much all turf, and I look for a significant step forward. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

3:47 WO 6th LAC MACAZA (#2, 8-1) was victorious in the 1 1/4-mile Niagara Stakes over the main turf two years ago. The popular 7yo is making his second start off a reclaim by trainer Julia Carey in this opening leg of the Woodbine Turf Distance Series, a glorified starter/optional claimer. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

3:59 CNL 8th ENERGIZE (#7, 5-1) will switch to turf off a long layoff for Stidham, and though there isn't a ton in the pedigree to support that move, it is also one the trainer has clearly been working toward during the break; his workouts on synthetic this summer have been encouraging and the regularity with which Stidham has kept him on the surface suggests he has been thinking about this switch for a long time; Lopez will ride the classy runner for the test, making it all the more intriguing. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race

4:21 KD 6th Irish import POLICE GAZETTE (#7, 8-1) is fairly interesting. Big, scopey colt has the look of a horse who will get this 12-furlong trip - more so than his try at the distance two starts ago suggests. The colt has pace and was showing it around the flat, standard oval at Dundalk. Nothing doing first out, when he raced in cheek pieces; was much better second out without cheek pieces; and put it all together third part when racing in blinkers. 4:45 SAR 9th MUSIC IN MOTION (#3, 6-1) switched back and forth between turf and dirt early on while finding his way; not sure what made the difference, but he looked like an improved horse in the maiden win last time when holding his ground while being bumped and squeezed between horses in the stretch, and then finishing up strongly when clear; dangerous right back. - Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race

5:06 GP 9th JANANA HAN (#1, 12-1) just ran better and did so when first in a turf route. She draws the rail once again and that can only help. She is bred to adore two turns on the green with turf and distance Tomlinsons of 346/375. Weight break rounds out the appeal. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race

5:44 CBY 7th ALLTAIL (#5, 5-1) ran well in her last two turf starts (please see one and three back). What if she is better going short? Her distance Tomlinson of 379 hints at just that. 6:15 KD 9th Given the two good runs at two tracks that NOSHAMETOHERGAME (#2, 20-1) put in making her first two starts, I feel comfortable putting the last-out dud down to a yielding turf course - that more than returning from a long layoff. Even running poorly, she surely benefited from that race and can improve sufficiently to contend in a wide-open contest.
