12:30 BAQ 1st SIDE STREET (#6, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).

1:32 KEE 2nd MAESTRO (#12, 6-1) dueled on a hot pace facing IND maiden-special-weights in his debut, and no shame fading off those fractions. Things got even tougher at Belterra, where Maestro ran into Puk, who followed up on the maiden romp with an equally easy allowance win there. Quick recent training center gate work, and outside draw a good spot to show that class-dropping speed. – Marcus Hersh

2:14 BAQ 4th THE SHOE LADY (#2, 10-1) was a rare firster from this barn that appeared to need a race when looking green and in need of fitness back in January; she benefitted from that start and won easily with more speed on display a month later, then improved again to take her next start over a mile before getting a break. Not holding the Bouwerie against her considering the competition and the pace off the layoff, and she got hooked into a fast duel and paid the price in that last one; better than she looks and putting races together for the first time since going back-to-back earlier in the year. – Mike Beer

2:56 GP 5th GABAGOOL (#3, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch).

3:17 BAQ 6th FOCUS POCUS (#9, 5-1) disappointed on the drop last time when off a short layoff and chasing wide before tiring; she has questions to answer now but her back races make her a contender here and she is right back at the same level off the claim for Rudy. – Mike Beer

3:40 KEE 6th JUST THE SKY (#5, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh).

5:07 GP 9th JUNCTION ROAD (#1, 5-1) lightly raced but steadily improving, obviously loves the surface, and worked sharp from gate for this. Gets tepid nod if able to set up shop behind all the speed in here. – Mike Welsch

5:08 WO 8th DARK SCREEN (#4, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).

5:16 KEE 9th BANKS (#12, 6-1) has a little gap in works 9/13 to 10/1, but that's not disqualifying, and otherwise his pattern into debut looks encouraging. Video of the most recent KEE drill, where he breezed inside another unraced maiden, besting that mate while racing a little too freely, trying to get his head up while coming through the homestretch. He won't be stuck inside here, however, breaking from post 12 - a good draw for a first-timer. The trainer wins with all kinds, including firsters in maiden-claimers. And always like to see a first-timer in a maiden claimer going for well over the listed purchase price, in this case a $7K horse in a $30K race. – Marcus Hersh

5:30 SA 4th SANGER (#6, 6-1), who missed by less than four lengths last out against tougher, drops to $25k claiming N2L for his third start following a late-spring respite. He ran well over the SA turf in winter and last fall. – Brad Free

6:12 WO 10th LIL BIT GANGSTA (#6, 6-1) lacked room in the stretch and was checked while in the midst of his rally in his frustrating last race against tougher. He could rule the roost in this $25K NW3 tilt if things go his way. – Ron Gierkink
