Benoit Photo First post for Del Mar racing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:00 GP 1st SUDOKU TERRY (#8, 9-2) gets back to the grass and maybe that is for the best. This barn is 19% going synth to turf, 14% on the grass, 16% in routes, and 17% with their claimers. There is good pace in this race and we know this 4YO can pass runners. – Scott Ehlers

12:10 BAQ 1st FUN TO TAP (#1, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).

1:45 WO 2nd HIGHLAND ROCKY (#7, 10-1) rallied four-wide over an inside-favoring track to record his second straight third-place finish in a $7.5K seven-furlong sprint two weeks ago. Shortening up to six furlongs might be to his detriment, but he could get up in time at a square price if the pace is on the quick side. – Ron Gierkink

2:50 WO 4th PAT'S GAMBLE (#7, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).

3:30 DMR 1st SHUANGXI (#6, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free).

3:49 GP 8th INDY LYON (#7, 10-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).

4:00 DMR 2nd Second-time starter QUE BELLA LUNA (#6, 8-1) drops to the bottom for her comeback, which makes sense considering she finished dead last in her career debut vs. Cal-bred maiden-50s in summer. She was well-bet at 5.80-1 and misfired with no visible alibi. Against this soft maiden-20, she deserves a second chance notwithstanding a recent gap in recorded works. – Brad Free

4:13 BAQ 9th VIKING WARRIOR (#8, 15-1) debuted in a strongly run race for the level sprinting on diet, where he finished with some late momentum after being outrun early; War Dancer colt is bred for turf and distance; stretches out at a price while up in class. – Mike Beer

4:19 GP 9th IN THE BLUE (#9, 10-1) tried two turns for the first time last out and ran evenly for a half mile before calling it a day. So now he returns to a sprint, right? Nope as connections once again want 8 1/2 furlongs just on the dirt this time around. This gelding did get a 58 Beyer going a flat mile only three back. This horse drops in class and this race holds no world beaters. – Scott Ehlers

6:00 DMR 6th HOTHEAD (#4, 6-1) may or may not be a bust. His off-slow debut two back was excusable, but he disappointed without a visible alibi his next out. He simply chased a hot pace and backed up. He was subsequently gelded, and meets a field with less heat. One more chance in a shallow Cal-bred maiden race. – Brad Free
