DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, November 1, 2026

DRF Staff|Oct 31, 2026

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:49 GP 2nd QUEEN KWAINA (#6, 6-1) faced first time winners three back all while going a flat mile for the first time. All she did was win at 9-1. Was two turns too much two back? That was an even effort going seven panels last out. Jock switch is noted while Ocasio is 2 for 4 for team Arscott (same connections as our third pick in race 1). Race flow isn't fast but it isn't pace-less either. - Scott Ehlers

1:00 CD 1st ULTIMIT WARRIOR (#6, 8-1) off since August when trying stakes foes as a maiden. He got race experience even if for only a short time. That race came back key when 3 of 10 returned to win with figs of 80, 71, and 82. One of three sibs is a multiple winner of 1.5 million (another is 5-1-2-0 for 100K). Connections find a good spot while recent works better. - Scott Ehlers

1:55 BEL 6th There appears to be plenty of speed in this turf sprint, so am most interested in horses who can rally from just off the pace; ENZO (#9, 6-1) fits that bill as he ships in from the mid-Atlantic for Liz Merryman; he kept decent company in his sprints this summer, and just got the wrong trip last time at Laurel; comes here with his regular jock and should be a square price. -David Aragona

2:24 BEL 7th It's fair to wonder if KOKOMOTION (#12, 6-1) is ever going to build on that promise she displayed in her career debut; notably, she got held up and made a big rally from off the pace that day; going forward recently hasn't worked as well for her, especially last time in the Winter Memories, which featured a pace collapse; expect them to take her back this time with the switch to Fresu, who should fit her well. - David Aragona

2:42 WO 4th SILVER COAST (#8, 8-1) is descending from maiden special company to meet much easier OS/$40K maidens while shortening up from a long sprint to five and a half furlongs and changing surfaces to the Tapeta. Wilson takes over and has a 33% strike rate for hot trainer Tharrenos. - Ron Gierkink

2:57 CD 5th IMPAVIDO (#10, 20-1) is a new route horse. Of course connections want a route of ground right back. This gelding did get a 77 Beyer when first on this dirt even if a while back. Team Heath are 27% going turf to dirt. This guy has some early zip and that might help with this outside draw. His last race came back key when 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 75 and 47. Don't forget about the huge price as this gelding sits at 20-1 on the morning line. - Scott Ehlers

3:00 SA 1st CYCLONE CLAIRE (#2, 7-2) closed with a rush to finish second in a maiden race for California-bred fillies and mares at a mile on turf on Sept. 27 in her first start around two turns. After starting from an inside post, Cyclone Claire closed from seventh of eight to lose by three-quarters of a length at 11-1. She will be well-backed to win the same kind of race at a mile on turf to start the final day of the autumn meeting. Trained by John Sadler, Cyclone Claire has worked quickly in the last few weeks, suggesting she may race closer to the front than in her last start. - Steve Andersen

3:05 LRL 7th REGGIE RUNS ROGUE (#1, 5-1) is admittedly a wild card in this race and might need a start off a long layoff for Nixon; that being said, the trainer once thought very highly of this one and always mulled a switch to turf at some point; this will be his first start as a gelding and there's no telling what he comes back with off the break. - Patrick Moquin

3:12 WO 5th Workmates ROCKFORT (#8, 10-1) and THIRD AND FOUR (#5, 8-1) should be prominent in this light OS/$40K maiden special. Both inexpensive yearling purchases are bred for speed. - Ron Gierkink

3:14 GP 7th STIR FLAY (#8, 10-1) didn't do much in his first two starts other than show some speed. Added distance is the key. Turf Tommy of 349 is strong if this stays on. We wouldn't mind the synth either. We bet this guy will love two turns and notice that regular rider tags along. - Scott Ehlers

3:22 BEL 9th There isn't a ton of speed in this race, but I don't think WARP NINE (#8, 12-1) has to rally from quite as far back as he's been in several of his recent starts; once had the tactical speed to be forward in a spot like this, but he's kept improving despite rally from far back in recent starts; held his own in a tough edition of the Parx Dirt Mile last time and it's not like he's catching a tougher group here; the outside draw should give Frankie Pennington options. - David Aragona

3:26 CD 6th VALEDORA (#12, 15-1) is by a 16% debut sire and a 16% debut turf sire. Her dam went 7-1-1-1 for 43K in England (stakes placed). Lone sib is 5-0-0-0 in England/France. Juddmonte runner could be anything and is in excellent hands with team Mott. We love the fact that this gal wants to debut going nine furlongs. Turf and distance Tomlinsons are very good at 365/366. - Scott Ehlers

3:36 LRL 8th TARTABULL (#7, 5-1) will ship back to Maryland to take advantage of state-restricted spots for new trainer Rice; Summers tried this trick back in the day and had some success, and the colt has found a little more while switching between trainers since; Rice is invested as an owner in this one. - Patrick Moquin

3:51 BEL 10th GIOCOSO (#7, 10-1) got the wrong ride and trip last time at Kentucky Downs when he was unwisely sent forward to contest a frenetic pace that fell apart; he's better when he can sit and make one run, and figures to return to those tactics as he cuts back in distance here; ran deceptively well in his efforts this summer and is not overmatched against this field. - David Aragona

4:42 GP 10th CODE THREE (#5, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).

5:12 WO 9th WAGNER (#2, 6-1) finished first and third in his last two outings in two legs of the Woodbine Turf Sprint Series. He was previously competitive on the Tapeta and could mow down all the speed in this first-level allowance/optional claimer. - Ron Gierkink

5:33 SA 6th SHOP TILL YOU DROP (#4, 9-2) is well-placed in this starter allowance at six furlongs, and capable of a second win in her last four starts with a stalking trip. Trained by Richard Baltas, Shop Till You Drop was fifth after racing wide at Los Al on Sept. 18 as the 3-2 favorite. That day, she was beaten 3 3/4 lengths in a race at 5 1/2 furlongs that was arguably shorter than her ideal trip. - Steve Andersen

6:33 SA 8th THIRD BEER (#10, 9-2), graded stakes-placed as a 2-year-old last year, returns from a five-month layoff to start in the shortest race of his career in this allowance race for statebreds at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course. Third Beer has been gelded since his last start, a fourth-place finish by a length in the Snow Chief Stakes for statebred 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles on turf in late May. - Steve Andersen
