DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, May 30, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:40 PIM 1st CASTILLETE (#2, 5-1) makes circuit debut following 212-day layoff for Bezara barn that successfully brought Armando R back from 410 days on the bench here last month. He’s earned several Beyers that have equaled or exceeded the par for this level. Faced Joe Benjamin the last time he stepped on turf and that foe returned to graduate for $16,000 at Gulfstream with a 75 Beyer. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:44 MTH 2nd MOON UNIT ZAPPER (#6, 4-1) has some nice breezes showing for her first start since October for trainer Greg Sacco, who has done well of late with horses making the switch from turf to dirt, as well as with turnbacks (moving from routes to sprints); takes the blinkers off but still figures to be closer to the pace than she was in her lone sprint try to date, her career debut. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:31 BEL 2nd THE GREAT DANSKY (#8, 6-1) was no good in the slop last time (his first-ever start over that kind of wet, sealed track); won with a competitive figure two back when able to get forward, which appears to be his preferred position in his races, and being outside might be a benefit to him; needs his best off the claim for the underrated Eddie Barker (past five years, first after claimed by, dirt, sprint: 7 for 28, 25%, $2.32 ROI). -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:39 MTH 6th U KNOW I B LION (#4, 5-2) appears to be the main speed in this paceless sprint, exiting an abbreviated sprint that was packed with pace, and she lost any chance when she got off slowly; expecting her to be aggressively handled by Ferrer in the opening stages, as she has a strong chance of stealing this if she can get away cleanly and shake loose immediately. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:41 PIM 5th CHARM CITY BAND (#2, 6-1) earned career-best Beyer in second start of the form cycle last year and now switches to turf after solid seasonal debut sprinting on the main track. His sire is 10 for 54 (19%) with first-turf performers and trainer Hugh McMahon is 3 for 9 (33%, $2.46 ROI) this meet going dirt to turf. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:26 GP 6th OLD TIME REVIVAL (#5, 6-1) getting plenty of class relief and well spotted to get back on winning track for first time in nearly two seasons. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:34 BEL 6th EPONA RISING (#6, 20-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:35 LS 1st GREY ROGUE (#5, 4-1) gets the nod in the Sunday opener on the move back into the statebred ranks for the first time since last season at Lone Star Park. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:40 CBY 4th SIR BRAHMS (#6, 6-1) should trip out best and is 6-1 on the morning line. The Flores barn is 13% with new runners but a better 15% in routes. We like today’s added distance more than anything. Both route tries in current pp’s are quite good and both came versus money allowance foes at Oaklawn. Those are tons better than these restricted foes. Current form is poor but that is why this horse shows up here. A win and a claim and connections are easily in the black. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:56 GP 7th THE GREAT KATH (#7, 4-1) stretches out off series of sprints and decent showing going five-eighths in latest. Has the speed to perhaps dominate this one gate to wire if aggressively handled from outset. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:00 SA 1st PALALEO (#3, 5-1) drops in class and returns to preferred turf footing second start back from an extended layoff. His seventh-place comeback on synthetic was actually okay. He dueled on a fast pace, hung tough to the furlong pole and cracked in a race dominated by closers. There is a little less heat in this turf sprint, his year-old turfsprint form includes a maiden win and N1X third that would be fast enough for this starter allowance optional claiming race. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:00 MTH 9th NOT A POSTINO (#2, 6-1) is kin to Rock Hard K P, a winner of seven of 25 races, and this gelding debuts against a seemingly average field of $20,000 maiden claimers; board will tell more but he does sports some works that hint at some ability. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:03 LS 2nd RUMPUS (#1, 4-1) has speed and the rail and established turf form. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:40 CBY 6th TWILIGHT GALAXY (#7, 8-1) has never missed the exacta on a wet track just in case the umbrellas come out. This filly ran great at the old Calder (GPW) but just the opposite at GP. We have written the analysis for both of those tracks hundreds of times and we know that some horses just have a love/hate relationship with those two surfaces. Let’s see what this filly can do with a fresh start here. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:12 BEL 9th ROXEN (#5, 15-1) caught slop on debut last month and he was badly outrun early while climbing over that going on the backstretch; eventually leveled off and rallied for 4th in the stretch in a useful effort, and he comes right back at the same level looking to build on that experience. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:40 CBY 8th HURRICAIN HUNTER (#7, 10-1) has never missed the exacta on this dirt. She draws fine and ends up in a good barn that is 14% with their new runners. Race flow is more than fair as long as everyone stays in. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:50 LAD 5th D’YETI MAN (#3, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:55 LS 6th ATOMIC CANDY (#1, 5-1) is back on dirt and the last time he ran on the main track he wired his rivals at this distance at Lone Star - and popped a career-high Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellin | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:52 SA 8th Maiden sprint winner LADY ACES (#1, 4-1) should clear the field from the inside post, and if so she can upset favorite SOOTHSAY in this G2 route for 3yo fillies. ‘ACES improved a ton second out, winning a sprint by more than three lengths with a pressing trip. This is her first route, and first against winners, but if Umberto Rispoli lets her roll early, she can be long gone. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
