Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action. 12:56 PIM 2nd GREAT DAYS AHEAD (#1, 8-1) took a step forward when getting Lasix for the first time, and the lightly-raced 3-year-old still retains upside. Settled near the back behind a quick pace (22.82; 23.05), eased out to split horses, then rallied in between for second behind favored Alpha Chi Rho. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race  1:00 BEL 1st BUSTIN SHOUT (#6, 5-1) was last seen failing to show speed and then failing to fire at Saratoga; also ran poorly in his prior start over that surface, though he had an excuse that day when bumped and steadied at the start vs. a strong field; the freshening might have done him some good and he comes back in a spot where he can be effective, if ready. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  1:11 MTH 2nd TITLE SHOT (#3, 4-1) ships up from Oaklawn and makes his first start off the claim by trainer Jerry Hollendorfer; he comes off a strong effort in defeat, where he closed nicely through the lane after racing off the early pace, and he can make the last run today given a clean trip and an honest pace to chase. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  1:39 WO 2nd BOLD RELOAD (#3, 10-1) toyed with $7.5K maidens when debuting on closing day of the 2022 meet, and could strike again in this NW2 tilt at the same price. The 5yo son of Reload has been working right along for a capable conditioner. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  2:01 BEL 3rd ANEJO's (#5, 6-1) top figure of 90 - earned in that game victory going longer last time - leaves him something to find when compared to his main rivals in this spot, though he remains underrated after winning five of eight on fast diet (one of those losses early on when trying to Albany right off a maiden win vs. subsequent Grade 1 winner Americanrevolution); has won three of his four one-turn routes and is adaptable to different pace scenarios; needs his best but likes to win races and will be a price. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  2:09 MTH 4th PUGILIST (#7, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race  2:20 GP 4th CASHIER CHECK (#5, 6-1) getting a mulligan after being grabbed into entering first turn and racing very rankly for the next furlong or so, totally losing all chance as the 2-1 choice last time. Finished third in a couple of key races, holding own with far better than he encounters today on both occasions. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race  2:27 PIM 5th CREOLE (#6, 6-1) switches to turf and adds Lasix for her first start after a 135-day layoff. She's a half-sister to a grass winner out of a half to multiple stakes-winning turf router Queen Caroline (89 turf Beyer; dam of Forte). Speightstown - Midnight Lute breeding nick produced stakes-placed turf miler Elle's Town (88 turf Beyer). Russell barn went 25 for the last 59 (42%, $2.76 ROI) with new Lasix users. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race  2:39 WO 4th MACHISIMA (#8, 6-1) ran well during the winter around two turns on the Tapeta at Gulfstream. Turning back to 6 1/2 furlongs might be suitable for the hard-trying mare, with the bug AV riding for a live barn. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  3:12 WO 5th CRIMSON NIGHTS (#9, 15-1) had no shot racing wide over an inside-biased track in her seasonal bow. With that tightener out of the way, the daughter of Souper Speedy could make some noise as a longshot in this longer sprint. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  3:34 BEL 6th LONGLIVE THE QUEEN (#9, 8-1) faced a short field on Gulfstream's all-weather surface in her debut last December and won that race convincingly with a good finish after sitting a tracking trip; well-bred filly has to get faster but see no reason why that can't happen as she moves to turf with Lasix on to face a field full of question marks. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  4:05 MTH 8th SHADY MCGEE (#4, 5-1) has good back grass figures and a closing kick that will come in handy here if the fractions are swift and contested, as expected; plenty good enough if he can run to those top Beyers in his first spin over the local course. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  4:24 GP 8th MR MAC QUHAE (#7, 8-1) has been away a long time but gets to run without a price tag on his head as a result, returning with same tag he won under when claimed then sent to sidelines after 2022 finale. Tuned up for this with bullet gate drill. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race  4:35 MTH 9th SWEET WILLEMINA (#1, 6-1) seems to have been perfecting her rating game in her last couple, as she was taken further off the pace than usual in both of those races, and she came running late; she gets the rail in the Serena's Song Stakes, however, and given the lack of obvious pace in this field she could well revert to her frontrunning ways, and she'll be tough to reel in if she can shake loose and back down the early fractions. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  5:20 WO 9th SAILOR'S PASSION (#12, 10-1) has worked encouragingly in advance of his first run of the year and seems capable of making his presence known at a square price. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  6:25 GG 5th UNCLE WALT (#5, 12-1) ran by far his best race, his fourth career start, in his turf debut on April 23, closing from fifth in a field of six to finish second in a maiden race at 1 1-16 miles. He is back in the same race with an excellent chance to win. One difference is jockey Catalino Martinez replaces an injured Irving Orozco. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race  6:40 SA 6th This maiden-50 turf mile is a good spot for a minor upset by comebacker KAWAZAKI (#5, 5-1), in his first start since September. His figures last year are appropriate for this level, his rivals are ordinary, and trainer George Papaprodomou can fire with turf-route comebackers off six months or more. He won with 4 of his last 12 at various class levels. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
