Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:05 BAQ 1st MUAZARAH (#4, 6-1) didn't quite pan out for top connections early on and required a class drop to break out of the maiden ranks; thought he improved in his first start off the claim when doing all the hard work before getting tired late; back in a better spot for this as a new gelding after getting in over his head last time. -Mike Beer  1:56 PIM 4th ELELEUS (#6, 12-1) switches surfaces as a half-brother to stakes-winning turf sprinter Miss Bullistic (80 turf Beyer top) out of stakes-winning turf router Miss Lombardi (89 turf Beyer), herself a half to stakes-placed turf router Coquettish (88 dirt Beyer) and stakes-winning turf sprinter Yes to the Dress (72 wet-dirt Beyer). -Dan Illman  2:40 GP 4th AWESOME WIND (#8, 4-1) turns back to a sprint after steady diet of two turn races and with the necessary speed to get into the mix early on if away clean from outside post. Could give novice pilot his first win with a clean run. -Mike Welsch  2:53 MTH 5th BOLD MEDICATION (#1, 6-1) hasn't been close of late but he comes out of open claimers and now meets non-winners of four, and his best recent figures are actually among the best in this field; he never threatened in that last one but he has more early foot than that, and he should be able to use his tactical speed to get immediate position. -Kenny Peck  2:54 WO 4th CLASSIC DANCER (#3, 8-1) chased a fast pace on the outside over an inside-biased track before tiring in the final furlong Dec. 17 before getting the winter off. He was previously a gate-to-wire victor over NW2 opposition and should be dangerous in this NW3 tilt. -Ron Gierkink 3:33 PIM 7th ROWSIE EXPRESS (#4, 9-2) broke sharp last month, but was taken in hand when pulling very hard going into the first turn. Wound up tracked outside in a slow-paced heat won by a front-running 31-1 shot, altered course down to the rail in the stretch, and ran on a bit to dead-heat for fifth. Seems pace-adaptable and can improve off that effort if able to settle better in the early going. -Dan Illman 4:05 PIM 8th CLASS WIZARD (#1, 8-1) was purchased for $17,000 at public auction in December, and returns with lots of changes (Lasix and blinkers off, cheek pieces on, stretches out three furlongs in distance for new barn). Outrun behind a quick opening quarter in final start last year while in between horses near the back, swung widest, then could only muster up an even finish. The third-finisher then scored a $16,000 "beaten" at Laurel with a 74 Beyer. This distance is a big question mark, especially off the layoff, but he should offer value after breaking from a cozy post. -Dan Illman  4:28 MTH 8th KATHLEEN O. (#3, 8-1) seems to have gone off form in 2024, as she was off the board in both of her two starts thus far against optional claimers, but an argument can be made that she was the victim of unfavorable race flows, as her closing style leaves her at the mercy of the pace, and she got no help in those races; that should change in the Serena's Song Stakes, as there are a couple of established pacesetters in this race, and she can move way up given quick, contested fractions up front. -Kenny Peck 4:43 BAQ 8th KODIAC WINTERGREEN (#6, 6-1) came with a good late run after a green beginning in her debut last summer; well-bred filly improved immediately to win her next start with a strong late run, then ran well again while shooting for a big purse going a mile before the layoff; got in a useful run off the layoff last time when rained off to the main track. -Mike Beer  4:48 GP 8th MAMA MARIA (#7, 7-2) finished third in super key race two back behind Abundancia and re-uniting with Perez who guided her to both previous victories. Could surprise at a square price. -Mike Welsch  5:00 MTH 9th NEVER SO LUCKY (#3, 6-1) may have been overmatched in that starter handicap race when last seen, when she ran into the white-hot Paper Mansion (that was her fifth straight win and she returned to post another victory in her next start), and she was also against the race flow in that paceless route; has license to improve with the class drop, and given a better set up. -Kenny Peck 5:15 BAQ 9th UNAFFECTED (#6, 20-1) got spun wide early and then was forced to chase to no avail when stretched out on turf early on at Saratoga; was back to turf for a final start at the end of the year, where he got caught contesting a strong pace and tired; drops for the 3yo debut and doesn't have much speed to his inside. -Mike Beer  5:20 GP 9th HUNTINGCOCO (#1, 8-1) broke poorly, still managed to get within three lengths of the leaders when trying grass for the first time in latest. Could prove live longshot in finale if leaving with the others. -Mike Welsch 5:28 WO 9th CHANCEL (#2, 4-1) got a career high 76 Beyer when capturing his '23 opener off a similar layoff last spring. He's protected by waiver in this $7.5K conditioned event and should take some beating under regular rider Crawford. -Ron Gierkink  5:32 MTH 10th FUJI FIRE (#3, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck).  6:12 SA 5th GRAZED (#5, 4-1) may prove a timely claim by trainer Steve Knapp and owner Les Blake. The gelding moves up to a $25k claiming starter allowance turf sprint after a sharp Cal-bred win from which he was claimed for $20k. GRAZED won four of his last six turf sprints at SA (vs. easier) and has tactical speed to be forwardly positioned with the Northern California shipper. -Brad Free 7:16 SA 7th INDY'S STAR (#1, 5-1) meets a soft field of $32k claiming fillies and mares in this turf mile. Despite misfiring last out on dirt, she gets the call to spring a mild upset. She has not raced on turf since spring 2023 at Turf Paradise; those races actually compare favorably to this field. While those races were a long while back, she did run well this February in a dirt sprint. -Brad Free
