3:16 AQU 5th J D FACTOR (#7, 5-1) needs a breakthrough on figures, but might be a bit better than he looks on paper. Thought he ran an underrated race when up in class going a mile in the slop at the end of December, and he had bumped into three straight wire-to-wire winners since; finds a race that projects to get more competitive up front in his second start off the claim for excellent connections. – Mike Beer

3:48 AQU 6th SANTAGATA (#5, 4-1) never got out of first gear when brought back from a long layoff last week; wheels back quickly while taking class relief, and she did run well in both starts last summer, including the debut when bothered by a loose horse and never able to get into a contending position. – Mike Beer

3:53 LRL 8th SKIP THRU DA FIRE (#7, 5-1) has been racing slightly beyond her scope for a few months now, but this is a much softer spot; she’s owned and trained by Corrales, whose results bringing horses back within a week are muddled by some eye-watering long shots; well-placed horses at Laurel tend to run well for him on short rest. – Patrick Moquin

4:10 OP 6th MISCHELOF (#4, 5-1) caught a wire-to-wire winner last out and might get a better set up in this spot as he shortens up some in distance from a mile and an eighth. He also adds a set of blinkers. – Mary Rampellini

5:22 AQU 9th BOSSMAKINBOSSMOVES (#4, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).

5:38 GP 10th READY FOR PEACE (#6, 6-1) has run well in all three turf starts. Race flow looks quick. This colt goes second time here and has a pair of recent works. Added half furlong and second time Lasix should help. – Scott Ehlers

5:46 OP 9th HOLLY DOLLY (#5, 6-1) has excellent speed and might have a chance to control the pace, depending on how things shake out at the break. – Mary Rampellini

7:30 SA 9th The call is eight-start maiden RANK (#6, 15-1), whose company lines include early Kentucky Derby favorite Journalism, graded-placed Rodriguez, G1 winner Gaming and graded winner Getaway Car. RANK has earned figures fast enough to win this stakes and should handle turf based on pedigree. Progeny of Honor A. P. have had success on turf (4-for-27). The dam of RANK won on turf; three of her eight foals are multiple turf winners. In a scramble of a race, RANK can become the second maiden to win the Pasadena Stakes (Make Music for Me won as a maiden in 2010). – Brad Free
