DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, March 28, 2021

DRF Staff|Mar 27, 2021
Oaklawn Park
Barbara D. Livingston Oaklawn returns to action with Thursday's card.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:00 TAM 1st KOZY VILLAGE (#6, 20-1) is out of a sire who is clicking at 15% with his firsters and though the dam’s two career wins came on the turf her best runners, the stakesplaced Ek Haseena and eight-time winner Caminaconloscodos, were dirt sprinters; barn specializes with maiden claimers. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

12:10 GP 1st JAZZY T (#2, 5-1) has lured runaway leading rider Irad Ortiz for her debut, and the daughter of Verrazanno is bred to be a turf miler. All of her works were across town on the dirt at GPW, and she resides in a live barn. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:39 GP 4th VINTAGE STYLE (#7, 5-1) is experimenting on the grass without much turf breeding, but she’s taking an important drop from maiden special to maiden-claiming company, a high-percentage angle for Weaver. Top turf rider Alvarado has the mount on the nicelybred daughter of Bernardini. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:20 AQU 3rd LOBSTA (#5, 4-1) showed potential in his debut while racing greenly over a sloppy track sprinting, then stretched out to this distance and improve immediately to break his maiden with a solid 71 Beyer; drops out of the Gander, where he was no match for the talented Nicky the Vest while up on the pace from the start. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:50 AQU 4th ESOR (#1, 7-2) and A GRAY FOR CAROLYN (#3, 5-1) both cutting in half for this for the same trainer and they were also in the same race on 1/31, where they finished 3rd and 5th, respectively, at big prices for $40k. ESOR ran back in the mud last month and finished last behind a front-running winner in the mud, but his races over fast dirt make him a major player in here. A GRAY FOR CAROLYN hasn’t come close yet after six starts on dirt and gets the right class drop for this while stretching back out. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:02 OP 3rd TAPALONG (#3, 9-2) should be sharp for the move back to six furlongs off the fiveeighths start in which she was prominent throughout. Her maiden score came at this distance. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:20 AQU 5th LEFT LEANING LUCY (#7, 7-2) is at her best when able to be part of the pace, a position she could not attain over that wet track last time from an outside draw, bor in her prior start when bumped back to last at the start; effort like that one three back when turning away challenges to score easily would make her tough in here. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:25 TAM 8th J P HELLISH (#5, 8-1) seems to hold a tactical advantage in this Turf Classic as the main speed in a relatively paceless race. He was unable to stay close to the leaders in that starter allowance race last time but those were very quick splits, and he never threatened, but he should be able to get clear fairly easily here; if he can back down the fractions sufficiently he can run to his best figures, which may be good enough, and he does figure to be a square price. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:29 TAM 10th SUMMERING (#9, 8-1) scored a little less than a year ago when she made her first start since August of the previous year, and she returns today in the Distaff Turf with some of the best Beyers in the field and works that suggest she’s ready; tactical speed should ensure a favorable trip regardless of how the pace scenario develops. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:38 OP 6th JERRYS PRIDENJOY (#8, 5-1) has moved forward with each of his starts at the meet and could be sitting on a peak performance in his third out since October. He’s also appealing as one who has seen steeper. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:22 GP 11th PROLIFERATE (#5, 8-1) is coming off a one-year layoff at a reduced classification as a new gelding, after working regularly at Casse’s Ocala training center. Casse’s older male comebackers in routes have been very productive in recent years, especially at Woodbine. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:30 TAM 12th ELUSIVE RYDER (#2, 6-1) had an epically bad trip three back and she returned to score two back despite getting away slowly, and having to race on the dirt when the race was switched off the grass; she was off the board last time but she once again had trouble, and she can post the upset here if she finally gets clear sailing. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:40 OP 8th EXULTING (#4, 10-1) moves back to two turns off a pair of sprint starts off the layoff and he is a stakes winner at this configuration at Oaklawn. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:54 GP 12th ASSERT DOMINANCE (#4, 6-1) was gelded after getting claimed out of his $16K debut in January by a trainer with pretty good numbers first-time off the halter switch. Prado takes over on the well-bred son of Blame. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
