DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, June 12, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:11 MTH 3rd LOOK OUT LAMBO (#4, 8-1) was off the board in his seasonal debut but he lost his best chance thanks to a slow start and a traffic-filled trip, and he wasn't pushed hard in the late stages once it was clear he'd do no better than 4th; makes his first start off the Tony Wilson claim and should be expected to improve off that running line, assuming a better trip. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:44 WO 2nd SEEDS OF GRANDEUR (#5, 8-1) got away slowly before checking in seventh behind a next-out winner at first asking against $15K maidens. She's moving out a furlong with the addition of blinkers in this much easier $10K contest, and could put it all together with Contreras back aboard. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:03 BEL 3rd STAND UP COMIC (#5, 8-1) returned to dirt for one final 2yo start last December and made it 3 for 3 on this surface when taking a $100k stakes easily at Parx; showed tactical speed in that last one and she appears to be training strongly for her 3yo debut. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:17 WO 3rd GOLDEN TRAIN (#8, 15-1) worked nicely from the gate the other day, her second straight half-mile breeze in around :48. She could make some noise at a square price in this five-furlong maiden special under successful longshot rider Civaci. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:03 BEL 5th FLYING FORTRESS (#3, 5-1) has looked like a work in progress for Shug while winning two of her first three starts, including her route debut off the layoff where she easily ran down a clear leader after getting a bit rank early; in a pretty tough field but appears to have plenty of upside and catches one of her main rivals returning from a long layoff. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:03 MTH 7th AMERICAN DAY (#10, 10-1) jumped up and ran a big race for the place in his first start over this course, closing resolutely along the rail to miss by less than a length at a huge price; there's a decent chance he could regress off that effort, as it was easily a career-high Beyer, but if he can run to that race in his third start off the layoff he may be able to make the last run. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:13 LAD 2nd FIANNA HILLS (#1, 12-1) has tactical speed and comes in fresh so a forward approach is more likely than not. This mare loves this dirt where she has never missed the board while hitting the exacta in three of four starts. The Reeves barn is 38% when returning a horse between 61-180 days. A decent price if anywhere near 12-1 morning line. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:10 CBY 5th POCKETFULLOFPOSIES (#8, 8-1) has the kind of debut running line that we like. She broke 7th of 8 and then simply ran evenly while getting needed race experience. Best of all is that her debut helps today's price. The Rarick barn is 21% with their special weights and show a flat bet profit. Jock switch to Wade is fine with us. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:26 LRL 8th AT THE GATE (#8, 12-1) has some excuses for the recent last-place finish. She might have been short in her first try after 265 days off and was likely overmatched against the likes of Meliponini Bee (returned to run third for the $40,000 waiver with a 58 Beyer). -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:27 MTH 10th IRISH MEADOW (#3, 10-1) was well off the board in his latest, when against open company, but he didn't get a lot of pace help there, and he wasn't pushed hard late once it was clear he wasn't going to get a check; he has back figures that are plenty good enough to win this Sunny Ridge Handicap if he can run to them, and with this move back to statebred company he may be able to do just that. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:40 BEL 8th U SHOULD B DANCING (#6, 6-1) has appeared to respond to rating tactics in her last two starts since returning to turf; finished strongly to gun down maidens two back, and she could not get herself fully clear until it was too late while coming up just short last time. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:48 GP 10th LOVE IN PARADISE (#9, 12-1) may have turned the corner. Walder claimed him for $12,500 when a so-so 5th here Feb. 27 but after that came 2 months off and he came back to blitz maidens here April 29. Yes, it's first time vs. winners but these aren't monsters, it's most encouraging he returns up in price and has worked strongly since. -Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:55 MTH 11th ASHLEY'S HOPE (#8, 10-1) gets back on the turf, and while she has only one win in 11 career starts on the grass she did have pace excuses in her last couple of tries on the green, over this course; makes her third start off the layoff today and may be set for her best yet, just as she was last year after a sprint and a route on the dirt before switching to the grass. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:10 CBY 7th DAIGLE (#6, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:02 WO 10th ENTRY TO HEAVEN (#4, 12-1) went four-wide on the turn before closing wider in the lane for third in his first race back on the Tapeta. The versatile son of leading Canadian sire Point of Entry was a successful turf sprinter in the past under Moran. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:47 LS 10th ON THE HONOR ROLL (#7, 6-1) and MUCHO BLING both leave the statebred ranks behind, but look like strong fits in this spot. Both have speed and that should serve them well at this five-eighths of a mile tilt. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:50 GP 14th NOVELERA (#11, 15-1) was fractious at the gate in her turf return here April 27 and then made a mild move before flattening out to end up 6th. Not only did she not behave, she was facing tougher and making her first start in 2 1/2 months. She can benefit from that outing and today's drop. She moves to synthetic but is bred for it, and that April 27 run looks better when you note 4 she faced there came right back to win. -Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
