DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, July 6, 2025

DRF Staff|Jul 06, 2025
Monmouth Park 2019
Bill Denver/Equi-Photo Monmouth Park is one of several tracks featured in Sunday's Playbook.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:50 MTH 1st BETWEEN THE COVERS (#4, 8-1) returns from a lengthy layoff but he’s a good fit in his first start in Oceanport, as he has some of the better Beyers in the field and the right running style, given his good late kick and the presence of several speeds in this field; eligible to make the last run if ready to go in his first start since late last year. – Kenny Peck

3:14 WO 5th HERE I GO (#3, 10-1) led all the way at 15-1 when the rail was out in lane 4 on the main course while coming off the sidelines a month ago in his turf debut in a maiden special. He could strike again in this non-two allowance with rail in lane 4 again, over a course that’s been kind to speed. – Ron Gierkink

3:57 MTH BALTASAR (#8, 6-1) looked good in his latest, closing with interest and galloping out well past the wire when a close-up third; gets more ground here and this is more his speed, as he can use the extra sixteenth of a mile to his best advantage as he tries to make the last run. - Kenny Peck

4:02 SAR 6th SHESINAMOOD (#6, 8-1) was an impressive debut winner sprinting up here as a 2yo before missing time; ran better than it looks off the layoff when finishing well into a wire-to-wire winner too late, before galloping out strongly past the wire, and she gave away too much early position when back on turf in that last one, before racing on gamely once again; has to stretch out but might be better than she looks, and she’s a price in here. – Mike Beer

4:35 SAR 7th DANGHERECOMESSHANG (#3, 12-1) made her lone start as a 2yo sprinting on turf, where she got hooked into an immediate fast duel with the race favorite before tiring, and that race produced a quality runner in Reigning Flowers; had her return from the long layoff rained off to the main track, but handled it well while letting the pace go early before coming wide to win clear; back to the surface she is bred for with Lasix on, and she still has plenty of room to improve. – Mike Beer

4:43 GP 8th CHINA BLUE (#3, 8-1) catches a race with little speed and with a little early encouragement should find the front end. She can pass runners just in case. She draws fine and has done all of her wining on this surface. – Scott Ehlers
