Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:05 WO 1st HOLIDAY WITH AMY (#7, 6-1) went four-wide on the turn en route to finishing a clear second behind a sharp closer most recently on the Tapeta. She was previously fourth behind the repeat winner English Shirl going seven-eighths on the main turf, and could take a shine to the tighter inner layout. -Ron Gierkink  | Get PPs for this race 1:10 SAR 1st CAUSEWAY'S JEWEL (#11, 10-1) will have a tough outside post if getting the scratch she needs to debut in this spot, but she is bred to have some ability as a full-sister to multiple graded stakes-winner on turf Emmanuel, who also won the first two starts of his career routing on dirt; Dutrow is 2 for 17 with first-time starters on turf over the past five years, but the winners came last year at odds of 9/1 and 11/1, and he has had several others in that short sample run well at big prices - 2nds at 10/1 and 28/1, 3rds at 37/1 and 44/1. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  1:35 MTH 3rd LEGENDARY THUNDER (#6, 6-1) is kin to four winners and he has a couple of works that suggest he has some speed, particularly that breeze back on July 9th; barn has done well with recent firsters and this colt may be overlooked some in the wagering. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race 2:16 GP 4th SMART SPENDING (#4, 9-2) finally shakes Midnight Bella, a win machine she has hooked in three of her last four starts. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race 3:07 CBY 3rd SKINNY BOBBY (#6, 6-1) is by a 15% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). His dam went 4-1-2-0 and earned 35K. All 4 sibs not only won but they all beat winners. This colt draws outside and owns a string of local works. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race 3:26 MTH 7th KOBE B (#2, 9-2) was very game in defeat in that last loss, as he was dueling for or prompting the pace from the start, and that was a race that set up well for the closers (note the inverted "C" symbol in DRF pp line, indicating a severe edge to Closers); he is probably better when able to take back off the lead and make one run, and he can be expected to revert to those tactics today. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  3:44 WO 6th MAGIC SLIPS (#7, 8-1) worked well from the gate the other day and could prevail in this maiden special sprint on the main turf. The son of hot second-year sire Good Magic is out of a turf stakes winner who dropped three winners from five turf starters. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  4:13 GP 8th STAT (#1, 9-2) is moving back to two turns for his second start off the bench. He's a multiple winner at the configuration. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race 4:37 CBY 6th BETTE'SGOTANOTION (#3, 9-2) caught a good track in her debut last summer and then broke six of seven. She could have easily spit the bit but rallied to finish second at 36-1. She has four works to help with her return. This is dam's first foal so no help there. A better price than many of these we would think. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  4:39 SAR 7th LITTLE DEMON (#1, 10-1) hasn't sprinted in a while but he has run well in all four starts on this circuit to date, starting with that allowance win over a one-turn mile in January with an 89 Beyer; has the speed to handle this slight cutback as he goes off the claim again, this time for the underrated Toscano - 9 for his last 33 first off the claim, 27%, $3.19 ROI. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race 4:45 SAC 1st MR BOTANICALS (#5, 5-1) won from a stalking position as recently as October at Golden Gate Fields and can win this conditional $5,000 claimer at 1 1-16 miles in that manner. Mr Botanicals finished fourth of five in a conditional $5,000 claimer on July 1 in his first start in nearly three months, and a race the gelding probably needed. Trainer Isidro Tamayo has an excellent record with runners having their second starts following a layoff. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race 5:14 SAR 8th LUCKY PERIDOT (#8, 10-1) has been an infrequent winner on turf throughout her career, though she hasn't always gotten lucky on this surface; thought she ran really well for $40k when arriving in NY last summer, then was moved to dirt off the claim, for some reason; never had a chance to run three back when hopelessly blocked in the stretch, and she has been stuck behind two rated paces since; needs her best but won't be favored this time. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race 5:17 SAC 2nd THE SANDY SURPRISE (#1, 6-1) was the game winner of a conditional $5,000 claimer at 5 1-2 furlongs at Pleasanton on June 24, closing from last of six with a wide rally to win by a nose. A winner of three of his last five starts, The Sandy Surprise has a good chance for another successful closing trip in this conditional $8,000 claimer. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race 5:19 MTH 11th MOVING IN STEREO (#7, 6-1) was well off the board in the slop last time but she had already shown she may not care for those conditions, and a slow start didn't help the cause; she was flattered when a couple of the runners in that sprint returned to win their next starts, and both were closers. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  5:23 WO 9th TWIN CITY's (#6, 10-1) last-out performance in the G3 Marine was too bad to be true. He hadn't been worse than second in his six previous outings, including a gutsy score in the open King Corrie Stakes, and deserves a mulligan in this King's Plate prep. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  5:33 LAD 2nd LORD DRAGON (#3, 8-1) returns off a layoff and a voided claim and do so well below the claim price. For many, this would be an X out but not so fast. Exiting a muddy race might have hindered this gelding. We like that connections want a route of ground in their return. If this gelding doesn't get claimed, then he will be eligible for some starter allowance races down the road. It might not matter much but his last race came back key when 2 of 7 returned to win with figs of 86 and 75. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race 6:00 WO 10th TITO'S CALLING (#9, 10-1) came three-wide for third last time out in a quick edition of the G3 Selene, and is meeting easier in this rich stakes for Canadian-breds. Nine furlongs seems within her range. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race 6:20 SAR 10th NEVER PERSONAL (#9, 30-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race 6:29 LAD 4th DANAS MULE (#9, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race  7:25 LAD 6th MY BUTTERFLY (#10, 20-1) should be a huge price. Seven of eleven sibs beat winners. We like her local works. She draws best and gets back to the dirt all while third off the layoff. For the fourth start in a row this filly tries a new track. Second time with new barn can only help. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  10:08 DMR 11th COMRADERY (#7, 4-1) ran too good to lose last time, runner-up by a head in a race that saw the 1-3-4 finishers rally from the back. COMRADERY was the only front-runner to stick around; he missed by a head. The veteran is in career-best form this year, runs well on the DMR turf, and should get a comfortable trip right behind the speed. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
