12:40 MTH 1st SOCIAL D (#6, 12-1) is worth another shot despite the fact that he was well off the board in his lone turf try to date, as he was close up from the start in that race, which featured some fast early splits; should be a price in the opener on this New Jersey Thoroughbred Festival card. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  1:05 WO 1st AZIEL (#4, 8-1) is by successful Florida sprint sire Bahamian Squall. She had a fast gate work on Aug. 12 for owner/trainer Keith Edwards, who scored with a longshot 2yo first-timer earlier in the meet. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race 1:10 SAR 1st DUSK (#1, 6-1) is a newcomer by 19% juvenile debut sire Bolt d'Oro and the first foal from 2 for 9 dam Bourbon Endowment (both wins turf), who is herself a sister to multiple Grade 3 turf winner Laura's Light; De Paz just 2 for 38 with 2yo first-time starters over the past five years, both winners at Saratoga, one of those on turf. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  1:35 MTH 3rd CASH KID (#3, 6-1) doesn't have the best overall win percentage but if you look past the wet track, sprint and turf tries he looks a lot better in that regard, as he is at his best on a fast strip going long on dirt; off the board as the favorite last time but a slow start cost him early position, which became even more important when it turned out to be a slow-paced affair. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race 2:07 WO 3rd VITALITY (#5, 12-1) worked fast from the gate on Aug. 12 and has posted a series of above-average drills for a trainer who's had a better meet than his win percentage would indicate. Owned by Stronach Stables, the son of good 15% 2yo debut sire Street Boss is the second foal from an unraced Awesome Again mare. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  2:35 CBY 2nd LIKE FINE WINE (#2, 6-1) can get the distance after back to back turf routes and goes third off the layoff. The leading barn is 24% turf to dirt. This field didn't come up very tough and this filly gets in light once again with the apprentice up. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  2:39 WO 4th ITS JUST MONEY (#4, 15-1) has worked extensively since ending up eighth after missing the break in his June 24 debut. His new trainer, Steve Flint, has won two races since he began training for this outfit earlier this summer. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race 2:44 GP 5th COUNTLESS DREAMS (#2, 5-1) just romped in a race like this here July 30, her first start in 3 months. A repeat of that gets the money again, though this time she doesn't come off the freshening. As good as she looked, why no price hike? -Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race  3:22 SAR 5th SPUNGIE (#1, 6-1) hasn't been seen since taking a shot on dirt at the end of last year, though she has been entered back already, only to get rained off; didn't fire her best shot off the bench last year, though that was a much longer layoff, and she did run really well in her career debut, suggesting that she can get ready off of works; has to be ready but drew a great post on the inside and she is tough in here with her good race. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  3:26 MTH 7th WILD MULE (#2, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race  3:55 MTH 8th PAL (#9, 12-1) was off the board in his last two but showed very good late interest in that last one, when behind a wire-to-wire winner, and he moved too soon in his prior try; needs clear sailing and some quicker fractions to chase but given that scenario he has every right to take a big step forward, likely at a price. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race 4:35 CBY 6th EIGHT STRAIGHT (#1, 5-1) simply went off form before the break. Works are well spaced and this colt used to have tactical speed. That would be a big plus to find it as this race has little pace. Class drop helps as this colt tries this dirt for the first time. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  5:40 SAR 9th KERRY (#8, 8-1) has only faced open rivals on turf to this point, including in that sharp maiden win as a 2yo with a 76 Beyer; three of her four turf starts since have come in open stakes races, and she faced much tougher horses than this in the Tampa allowance off the long layoff, as well; properly spotted. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race 6:29 LAD 4th MISS DARLENE (#10, 12-1) was stuck on the rail in her return try and caught the mud but still showed speed and ran well. Don't forget that she was returning off a long layoff. She draws tons better today but does pick up five pounds. She has worked three times since and that should bode well with the added 1 1/2 furlongs. A better price than some we would think. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race 6:57 LAD 5th SWEET RACHEL (#1, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race 7:25 LAD 6th NORAH G (#6, 8-1) is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Both sibs won on the grass including a debut turf winner. Hard to fault that recent stakes win and it even came off a layoff. Lone route try came just before the layoff and it was a troubled trip. We would love to get 8-1 morning line. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  8:37 DMR 8th This $25k claiming turf route was postponed one week due to the storm. Shippers from Florida and New York top the lineup. INDY LYON (#2, 5-1) and GRAPE NUTS WARRIOR arrive after multiple wins in the East. INDY LYON is a seven-time winner who ran well in spring against decent company at Gulfstream Park; he has been in California since early last month and is realistically placed for his local debut. His numbers are fast enough. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
