DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, April 5, 2026

DRF Staff|Apr 05, 2026
Gulfstream Turf Scenic01.5.10.25.RTCP_.jpg
Ryan Thompson/Coglianese Photos First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

Post Time: 1:50 ET
Track: Gulfstream (3rd Race)
Horse: THE COROMOTO (#4, 5-2)
THE COROMOTO gets the nod by default debuting in this relatively week spot off pretty long series of works, the last of which on this surface among the best yet. – Mike Welsch | Get Past Performances for this race

Post Time: 4:20 ET
Track: Gulfstream (8th Race)
Horse: BOLD ADVANCE (#2, 6-1)
BOLD ADVANCE extended Battle of Dover to close decision three back, the latter at open $20K winner later in the meet. Caught dead rail exiting that performance, chased huge early pace in most recent outing. Nicely spotted for this tag and condition. Back on winning trail with the right trip again this bunch. – Mike Welsch | Get Past Performances for this race

Post Time: 4:36 ET
Track: Santa Anita (4th Race)
Horse: GHAZAALY (#2, 7-2)
GHAZAALY scored a decisive win last out at this N1X/optional claiming level, no reason he cannot win again at the same level. He remains eligible because he ran for the claim tag last out. However, he might not get same ideal trip as last time, when he pressed the pace in the clear before he kicked away. But he can take dirt, which he did three starts back when he raced inside and behind rivals before swinging out and running away. Sharp horse, never better. – Brad Free | Get Past Performances for this race

Post Time: 4:50 ET
Track: Gulfstream (9th Race)
Horse: GREAT NAVIGATOR (#1, 8-1)
Going for the Easter money third off the layoff with GREAT NAVIGATOR who ran well enough in GP Sprint despite being pinned to dead rail throughout. Continues to work forwardly, has run some races locally that would be good enough to beat these. Late running sort might benefit from hot early pace if this field holds together. – Mike Welsch | Get Past Performances for this race

Post Time: 5:20 ET
Track: Gulfstream (10th Race)
Horse: SILENT RESERVE’s (#1, 8-1)
Chart footnote for SILENT RESERVE’s last start reads “not asked for best” and that was apparently the case after speedster broke a bit tardy and never got near the lead. Came back with huge bullet work around dogs recently at Palm Meadows, expect to see him come out winging with a clean start from the rail. Has other speed to deal with in this lineup but perhaps worth a look at the price with one over the course. – Mike Welsch | Get Past Performances for this race
