DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, April 17, 2022

DRF Staff|Apr 16, 2022
Mutamakina wins the 2021 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine
Michael Burns Mutamakina takes the Dance Smartly, the opening race of the Ladies of the Lawn turf series at Woodbine. Sunday's final leg, the E.P. Taylor, will determine the series winner.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

2:20 WO 3rd WARP RIDE (#2, 5-2) earned a good 78 Beyer in his gate-to-wire debut score Dec. 4 (the highest in this five-horse allowance) and fourth-place finisher Sir for Sure subsequently won a maiden special at Gulfstream. The half-brother to speedy stakes winner Acting Out can double up under Gallardo, who seems ready to have a productive meet in his second stint here. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

2:43 GP 4th ASK FOR BODE (#2, 4-1) back in familiar hands off the claim after coming off dull try last time vs. similar. Best previous efforts could make this one an upset threat if logical favorite NO COMMISSION regresses off big move up, far and away career best effort last time. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

3:15 GP 5th PERFECTIBLE LADY (#11, 12-1) in new hands since shipping locally and getting full make-over, blinkers and Lasix for 3yo debut. All recent works have been strong. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

4:42 WO 7th EXECUTIVE SIGHT (#3, 3-1) won off a long layoff twice before and could make some noise at a square price in this five-furlong N1X. After wintering in Ocala, he should be quite fit and is being reunited with Hernandez, who was aboard for three of his tallies. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

5:15 WO 8th GIMBALA (#7, 15-1) had no shot while racing wide over an inside-favoring track when eighth in her last start here Nov. 4. She was previously in solid Fort Erie form that included a neck loss in her 2021 season opener, and could do some damage as a longshot in this $7.5K tilt, even though she's facing males. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

8:12 SA 9th CURRENT MOOD (#10, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free). | Get PPs for this race
