DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, September 3, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:15 MTH 1st SUMMER BEE (#4, 8-1) is out of a dam who posted her lone win in 14 starts on the turf, and both of her two runners to date won on the grass; sports a couple of works that suggest he has some speed. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:25 KD 1st BEL ROSSO (#10, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:31 WO 2nd I'M DASHING (#6, 9-2) annexed his lone inner turf excursion last year under Gallardo, who was also aboard when he showed nothing after a troubled break most recently. He's eligible to wake up in his fourth start of the season in this inner turf tilt. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:38 MTH 4th MOON SECRET (#1, 15-1) was well behind the winner in both of his two starts vs. winners but the race two back was a failed turf test and he was never involved last time in a race where those wit forward trips held the edge; the Beyer he posted in the maiden score three back gives him credibility and he figures to be a square price today. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:31 KD 3rd BUTTON BOY (#9, 12-1) went from an even fourth in a Colonial turf race last summer to flash home with a strong finish (after early trouble) in an encouraging run over the Kentucky Downs lawn. Returned from a long layoff Aug. 15 at CNL in a race surely designed as a prep for return to KD. Race was too short for him in any case, and BB was buried behind a horse going nowhere through much of the stretch run. Just might be good enough & price will be right. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:31 MTH 8th DADDY KNOWS (#1, 5-1) might be the main speed from the rail, and in a race that's relatively light on early zip that could prove a big edge; he has been facing statebreds in New York but his best back figures put him in the mix with the other top contenders in here. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:45 WO 6th IMPETUOUS MOLLY (#7, 6-1) is by the recently deceased More Than Ready, a top international sire who's gotten 11% 2yo debut winners and 14% turf winners in North America. Her dam was a stakes-winning sprinter/miler at 2 and she produced the precocious juvenile stakes winner Overbore, who placed on turf. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:05 LAD 1st DEROUTANTE (#4, 12-1) tried a tough seven furlongs in her debut and did so versus better. She is bred to like both the green and two turns. Lone sib is a multiple winner of 94K that never tried the green. We like that Lozada gets a leg up. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:13 KD 6th PARIS PARAMOUR (#8, 10-1) was racing without Lasix and caught a yielding course when she made her debut last September over the KD turf, so won't take that poor performance as a sure mark against her suitability to the course. Like her cutting back to a sprint, she's posted two August bullets (FWIW) prepping for this, and the barn does well with this sort of layoff horse. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:19 WO 7th QUALITY COLLECTION (#5, 10-1) has been freshened since checking in fifth behind two next-out winners after a wide trip in her five-furlong opener on the inner turf June 18. Seven-eighths on the main course should be more suitable for the daughter of elite sire Quality Road. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:46 GP 9th So was it the layoff, the addition of blinkers, the move to synthetic, to a longer trip or simply maturity that has brought about the big improvement for GREAT UNCLE (#4, 9-2)? Maybe a bit of each. The good news is most of the positives still apply and now he's a proven commodity in a spot like this, coming off a sharp 2nd vs. similar. -Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:48 KD 7th JANIS JOPLIN (#2, 8-1) showed some acceleration around the turn last out in the Adirondack that hints she might be just fine on turf, and when there's a California Chrome with some ability (expect to see more of those in Japan!), they often prefer grass. She churned along gamely enough last time and seems a solid candidate to get farther. Remains a maiden but connections eschew a race for non-winners to chase this half-mil. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:01 LAD 3rd TEXAS TRILOGY (#4, 12-1) got some class relief in his most recent and it worked. This gelding is actually bred to like two turns on the turf so that combined with recent confidence boost could bring about another good try. This gelding doesn't face a whole lot in here. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:28 LAD 4th TIZ MY PLAN (#9, 10-1) ran better two and three back and that included first time winners. She was washed off the green in her most recent so there is your excuse. There isn't much pace in this race so this filly won't be that far off whomever guns. Class drop can only help and this filly did break her maiden on this dirt. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:52 GP 11th MALRAUX (#11, 6-1) dueled and gave way in a race like this here last time out as the 2-1 favorite but is capable of much better. He's dueled and survived before and maybe last time being on the rail was a big problem. Well, he moves outside for this and maybe that can get him back on track. He's reunited with Jaramillo, who was up for his last win. -Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:00 MED (Harness) 3rd COUSIN MARY (#1, 10-1) turned in several good efforts before the Meadowlands Championship Meet ended and comes out of an excuse race where she was bothered at Harrah's Philadelphia. – Greg Reinhart | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:05 KD 11th UGHROUDA's (#5, 20-1) debut and lone start to date came in January, when she actually finished well for fourth, well clear of fifth, behind three very solid horses. Only foal to race from a dam who ran only once, but the second dam was a graded-stakes winning middle-distance turf horse. Barn change, long layoff, but plenty of work for comeback and is likely to be overlooked by the betting public. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:55 GG 7th WONDERFULWONDERFUL (#5, 5-1) was a good second to favored Zu Zu Flynn in a $4,000 claimer for non-winners of two at Sacramento on July 10, setting the pace before losing by a length. While this is a jump in class, Wonderfulwonderful has had significant time since the July 10 race and has a chance for a forward or stalking trip under apprentice jockey Ruany Orantes. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:00 WBS (Harness) 4th CENTURY INSPECTOR (#2, 10-1) was used hard to win last time he raced in a conditioned race and I’ll give him the nod here understanding that each horse in here will have differing levels of intent with some racing between Gold Sire Stakes starts. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
10:27 RP 6th MESA MOON (#2, 5-1) makes a rare start on the grass, but is appealing for his quality and the quality of company he has kept during his career. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
