DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, September 26, 2020

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:50 MTH 1st PASSIONFORTREASURE (#5, 5-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck).
1:13 PIM 2nd LISHEEN (#11, 8-1) is by a 14% first-turf sire out of a mare from a European grass family. The dam is a half-sister to British stakes-winning turf miler Londonnetdotcom while the third dam won two Group 1 races in Europe. Likely gained needed fitness when passing tired horses in off-the-turf dirt sprint and should benefit with the surface switch coupled with the additional distance. McCarthy lands here instead of Bella Bettina. -Dan Illman
1:16 MTH 2nd BIG BOSS LADY (#7, 7-2) was against the race flow in each of her last two tries on the dirt yet she managed to post a win and a runner-up finish, in her latest, when she was against an extreme pace scenario which favored speeds (note the inverted “S” in DRF pp’s); makes her first start off the claim for trainer Jose Delgado, who wins at a high rate with such runners. -Kenny Peck
1:39 MTH 3rd INTO VANISHING (#6, 7-2) has a strong set of works showing for her debut try and while her dam was best on the dirt she did score on the grass, albeit in a route; trainer Jonathan Thomas excels with turf sprinters and he has saddled four winning firsters in turf routes over the past three years, all of them 5/2 or less, meaning the board will be the best guide. -Kenny Peck

2:16 WO 3rd SISTER PEACOCK (#5, 9-2) faded in the final furlong after attending the pace last time when going seven-eighths in the G3 Seaway. The rapid 4yo is 2 for 2 in six-furlong Tapeta sprints, which included a stakes success. -Ron Gierkink
2:19 PIM 4th BENANDJOE (#11, 8-1) hasn’t stepped on the turf in over a year, but that was a sneaky-good race coming off the heels of a maiden score over this Pimlico turf course. Buried down inside all of the way, he finished evenly in some traffic against a field that produced four next-out winners. Think he can get right up close to the pace despite this outside post position. -Dan Illman
2:20 GP 5th Like the way CHASE RUNNER (#8, 9-2) came from a stalking position to win an $8K claimer going 7 furlongs in his latest. He could get a similar trip here and he is a 4-time winner at the distance so the added yardage should work in his favor. -Randy Goulding
2:52 PIM 5th TAM CHAR (#4, 6-1) is by the very precocious Great Notion (18% juvenile debut sire) out of a hickory dam that won seven sprint races. Kin to two winners including a full brother that won a couple of sprints. -Dan Illman

3:25 PIM 6th CAROLINA ICE (#7, 6-1) is in excellent form with two wins from her last three starts and only needs some pace to adequately setup her potent late kick. Scored three back on grass when receiving that sort of scenario as she sat by herself at the tail end of the field behind hot fractions, eased widest turning for home and won going away despite being late to change leads. Seems to have found her niche as a turf sprinter. -Dan Illman
3:55 GP 8th OH DEBORAH (#4, 5-1) was making just her second start when she just missed in the Susan’s Girl so she has a right to improve for Nicks who has won a lot of Florida Sire races and appears to be loaded again today. She will have to get past PRINCESS SECRET who was game winning the race and has the pedigree to handle her first route test. She had a solid interim work so expecting another strong performance. -Randy Goulding
5:33 MTH 12th MO GOTCHA (#9, 9-2) raced on the turf in both of his two starts this summer in New York but he’s back on the main track for this and his steady, sharp dirt Beyers make him easy to like in his local debut; he usually goes longer but he broke his maiden at this distance and he has enough positional speed to work out a forward trip for a barn currently clicking at 30% with horses making this surface switch. -Kenny Peck
6:01 WO 10th ANN OF CLEVES (#1, 8-1) is taking a pretty good turf pedigree into her first start on the lawn in this two-turn inner turf event. She’s tagged for the first time off a fading fifth in an N1X traveling nine furlongs. -Ron Gierkink
