DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, September 24, 2022

DRF Staff|Sep 23, 2022
Gulfstream Park
Coglianese Photos Gulfstream hosts the first two legs of the Florida Sire Series on Saturday.

2:51 WO 4th DESTINIQUE (#4, 10-1) flattened out to fourth after a four-wide stalking trip when boosted up to this N1X level two weeks ago. She was previously a close second vs. males and could catch all the speed in this six-furlong sprint. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:30 GP 7th Third might be charm for Letruska's baby brother PRUDENCIO (#6, 8-1) who showed some promise at first asking before being victimized by tough trip last time. Experience could prove the difference today. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:58 GP 8th I BELIEVE IN MAGIC (#5, 5-1) gets the slimmest of nods in perhaps the most unpredictable race of the day with trip likely to decide the outcome among a bevy of logical contenders. Does have the speed to be prominent throughout. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:58 LRC 4th RED HOT LASS (#5, 6-1) has worked three times for new barn and they are 17% off the claim. This filly gets good race flow and figures a decent price. Now as for what happened last out....it was her first start at Del Mar and she was stuck inside. OR...third race bounce. OR...sometimes the girls just throw in a poor one. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:10 PIM 8th BUY THE BEST (#11, 12-1) was one of the region's better juvenile fillies in 2021 and think her form this year is a bit dirtied up. Ran on an unfamiliar turf surface in first try after 175 days on the bench, then faced classy older horses (Chub Wagon is 12-14 lifetime while Fille d'Esprit returned to win the Seeking the Pearl at Colonial with an 86 Beyer, then placed second in Charles Town's Pink Ribbon with a 91). -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:27 LRC 3rd FINALLY HERE (#5, 5-1) won his only dirt start and it came here three back. This guy has tactical speed in a race with no speed. Added distance helps theft chances if connections want the front end. This gelding has worked twice since his most recent and drops in class. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:33 WO 7th MISS JESSEL (#9, 6-1) has been working right along for a trainer who can have one ready and should make some noise if she gets away cleanly. Her sire, Ghostzapper, has sired three Queen's Plate winners, including the brilliant Moira. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:06 WO 8th HALF TO RELOAD (#3, 6-1) made two moves in both of his outings and earned his diploma most recently with determination on the Tapeta. The son of Reload is bred for turf on the sire's side, and could hit the board at a square price with Civaci retaining the mount for a live barn. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:28 LAD 4th OUR CITY (#3, 8-1) is by a 13% debut turf sire. His dam missed the board in her only turf start. One of two sibs won and is a multiple winner on the grass for 36K. Class drop and good turf breeding could upset the apple cart. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:22 LAD 6th ANYOTHERQUESTIONS (#4, 5-1) is bred to love the green and continues to improve upon said surface. His recent maiden breaker resulted in a Beyer top. This barn is a solid 15% with horses that won their last race. Bottom line is that we don't think this gelding is done improving on the grass. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:16 LAD 8th NO KA OI (#4, 15-1) puts three races together for the first time since last summer. He was a step slow at the break in his most recent which had to hurt. Form cycle hints at better. Race flow is main calling card as we count 6 in here with some speed. Both wins have come on this dirt and at this distance. -Scott Ehlers| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:20 GG 6th OUR EMPIRE (#4, 8-1) broke from the inside in his last two starts, dueled for the lead and faded. In this race, Our Empire has a better draw in the middle of a seven-horse field and may not face the same pace pressure. Trained by Ed Moger, Jr., Our Empire can lead throughout against a modest cast of opponents. -Steve Andersen| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:28 MED 2nd MY BEAUTY PRINCESS (#1, 6-1) has speed and the rail and may be able to shake loose and control the pace under Jorge Vargas Jr., and she can steal this if she is unpressured from the start; she weakened when last seen but that was a failed attempt at rating off the early pace. -Kenny Peck| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:05 LRC 10th ACT OF SERENDIPITY (#7, 10-1) was slowly improving before the layoff and broke her maiden right before said layoff. She returned at Del Mar but drew the rail going 6 1/2 furlongs and that is very tough. It is no surprise that she broke last before she beat a few home. If she can relax a bit off the speeds then a good trip can be had. -Scott Ehlers| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:07 RP 1st RED DRAW (#4, 8-1) cuts back to one turn and looking for him to be strong through the stretch on account of the distance move. He also owns the field's best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:20 GG 8th INTO BOURBON (#3, 6-1) has not raced since an easy win in a $5,000 claimer for maidens at Sacramento in July and has his first start against winners in this $6,250 claimer for non-winners of two. This is a race Into Bourbon can win. He is quick enough to lead and could be tough to catch if he can handle six furlongs as well as he did five furlongs last time. -Steve Andersen| Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:00 WBS (Harness) 7th RAISED BY LINDY (#4, 7-2) ran into a pair of horses last week that would be odds-on favorites in this spot. She seems to be sharp and drew a great post to race from on or off the pace. I expect driver Gingras to float away and try to be the last horse to the front. – Derick Giwner | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
