Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 2:30 WO 1st MALIBU UPROAR (#7, 9-2) won his penultimate start/season opener at this level on the grass. You can ignore his last dull race, which was taken off the turf. -Ron Gierkink 1:29 WO 3rd MUM’S THE WORD (#7, 20-1) came wide to finish a decent fifth behind the promising winner Lady Speightspeare at first asking in a seven-furlong maiden special. -Ron Gierkink 1:47 KD 2nd On paper, there’s very little pace in this one-mile maiden, and with the rail coming down, I’m guessing that inside paths - and, perhaps, speed -- are going to be good on this card, provided the rain holds off. SUMMER PALACE (#4, 9-2) has been forwardly placed in both his US starts while racing effectively, and if he’s not leading, he’ll be pressing. First-time gelding with a work pattern suggesting he’s been pointed to this race. Trainer won with a well-meant maiden Wednesday off a similar layoff. -Marcus Hersh 2:19 KD 3rd Can’t see taking a short price in this 1 5/16-mile allowance race, and Bourbon In May at something like the listed 2-1 would be wholly unpalatable. KENDAMA (#8, 15-1) lost at Penn National last time but did boost his Beyer considerably in his third start and surely rated even higher on speed figure systems that consider ground loss since he was wide both turns. East Coast-based trainer has done well enough at KD and lightly raced horse, who won a key maiden race two back at LRL, definitely has the pedigree to enjoy this first try at a longer trip. -Marcus Hersh :: Bet the races online with DRF Bets. New members get $250 bonus 2:34 GP 6th CORY GAL (#3, 3-1) was no match for BACCARAT FASHION when they met here July 30, finishing 4th to that gal beaten by 7 1/2 lengths but she didn’t use her speed that day. She was claimed, came back at the same level (today’s level) and ran them off their feet, getting her revenge on BACCARAT FASHION who ran 2nd. Apparently Dibona bought at the right time as she’s sharp. And she’s surely best when able to use her speed. -Michael Hammersly 3:11 WO 6th I’M THE SHERIFF (#2, 9-2) battled three-wide for the lead before finishing a lapped-on fourth at first asking in an identical spot. -Ron Gierkink 3:40 LRL 7th FIRTH (#11, 9-2) just missed last time on dirt, but that just shows how sharp her form is as she’s likely better on the grass. Got caught up battling a 27 to 1 shot that eventually finished ninth when setting quick splits in a race that fell apart at Delaware two back. Likely has to dissuade New York invader Vip Nation early, but certainly a factor if able to relax a bit on the backstretch. Ruiz lands here instead of Our Star. -Dan Illman 3:48 MTH 8th SWEETOLOGY (#2, 5-1) was off the board in her first and only start on the turf, two back, but she had little chance to close in that paceless race, with the winner controlling the tempo from the start; that was a better effort than the running line might indicate and she can be expected to be improve at this reduced level, especially given a better set up. -Kenny Peck 4:05 LAD 1st MAGGIE TRUE (#8, 6-1) has run well in three of her last four starts and we have an excuse for the other when trying seven panels off the medium layoff. She has a local work which can only help. A nice touch in that Dominguez gets a leg up and he is 25% for barn locally. -Scott Ehlers :: Get the DRF GamePlan Playbook each day with a DRF+ Pro subscription. Purchase here. 4:27 KD 7th MITCHELL ROAD (#1, 8-1) has been overbet many times during her career - possible she’s under-bet in the Ladies Turf. Just toss the last start at Ellis - soft turf was a no-go. Post 14 three back, hit the gate with a poor start two back - we’ve got a whole string of excuses going. She ran well on this course last year finishing second in this race while prompting the pace, and the hope is Saez, who seemed to ride the mare well long ago, just lets her run to the lead from the rail. I think she can go clear and wire this bunch. -Marcus Hersh 4:40 LRL 9th DIXIE’S FASCINATOR (#9, 6-1) was bumped several times leaving the gate in turf sprint here on July 25, ended up stalking three wide behind a quick pace and was up for second behind odds-on winner Splasherstown. Willing to dismiss recent dirt start as she doesn’t seem to appreciate that surface at all. Needs a bit of pace help up front, but believe she’s in good form and should come running late. -Dan Illman 4:48 GP 10th PALADIO (#4, 5-1) was freshened and came back to gamely beat lesser here Sept. 4. The juvenile son of Gone Astray now gets a most encouraging class hike. He also retains Reyes in the saddle and the 2 are 2-for-2 together. -Michael Hammersly 5:28 LAD 4th OVER FUNDED (#9, 12-1) gets some pace to chase today unlike last two turf starts. His best effort this year came three back on this sod and it was against better. This gelding didn’t get any pace help two back at Evangeline but only lost by 5 1/4 lengths. We say that he is just much better on the green. We would love to get 12-1 morning line. -Scott Ehlers 5:32 KD 9th Trainer V Lund thought even after BODENHEIMER’s (#6, 6-1) eye-catching debut win on turf, that he was, at heart, a dirt horse. But after he had to work like crazy to win on dirt last time at PRM, I think it’s a decent guess he’s a turf horse. He is very, very fast, has posted more fast work since the last race, and might take this field a long way at a fair price. -Marcus Hersh 5:33 MTH 12th SPITBALL (#10, 6-1) adds blinkers for the first time after a dull try in his latest, which may have been a result of him trying to rate off the pace and make one run; if he’s able to draw in off the AE list he can be expected to be on the lead today under Bravo, who, along with trainer Kelly Breen, could be sitting on a very big day. -Kenny Peck 6:22 LAD 6th SILVER TAKE CHARGE (#4, 12-1) is good whether this stays on or not. Make no mistake though in that she is bred to love the green. She draws nicely and keeps regular rider all for a barn that shows a big flat bet profit on the green. -Scott Ehlers 7:31 WO 13th SEGUIMI (#5, 12-1) is tagged for the first time in this $25K NW2 contest off a fade job vs. OS/$40K stock. His best efforts came when he was part of the pace, and that figures to be the strategy this time. -Ron Gierkink
