Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:15 MTH 1st OUR HUMBLE HEART (#8, 8-1) is the first starter out of an unraced dam but she hails from a barn that is always a threat with firsters and she sports some works that suggest she has some speed; expecting her to come out running. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:40 LRL 1st SILK WAR (#4, 6-1) is a half-brother to four winners out of a full sister to Group 3-placed turf sprinter Lucifer Sam. The dam is also a half-sister to Group 2-winning turf router Admiralofthefleet and Group 2-placed turf miler Athens. This is the family of multiple Group 1-winning turf sprinter Machiavellian. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:54 GP 2nd EXCALIBUR (#3, 4-1) flopped as the chalk in his latest, but he broke awkwardly and after rushing up to get into the mix early he faded. His race two back puts him right there and he could make amends while making his first start for David - 27% with a $4.05 ROI with new shooters since 2017. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:08 LRL 2nd EVER CLEAR (#5, 6-1) has some pedigree as a three-quarter brother to Grade 3-placed synthetic router Tesseron (won debut) out of stakes-winning turf miler Cute Cognac. That dam is also a half-sister to stakes-winning dirt router Gratiaen. Several workouts match up with Mary Eppler’s 11-time grass winner Minister’s Strike. Perhaps they breezed in company. This is a belated debut so not too concerned that he makes first start for the $25,000 tag. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:45 MTH 4th BRAMBLE BEACH (#4, 8-1) is kin to three winners and two of them, Bramble Queen and Bramble Bay, were multiple winners on the turf, and both were stakes winners; debuts for Mike Dini, who wins at a good rate with firsters, and he has a couple of decent works showing. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:15 MTH 5th READYFORPRIMETIME (#4, 6-1) has never raced on dirt, and he didn’t run all that well in his lone try on the synthetic main track at Woodbine, but trainer Jeremiah Englehart wins at a 39% clip with horses moving from turf to dirt and this 5-year-old could fall into a perfect stalking trip behind a contested pace in this Rumson Stakes; most recent work for this was sharp. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:45 WO 4th UMNEYAAT (#9, 10-1) attended the pace from a three-wide position before weakening to fourth in a surprisingly strong showing when moving up from $25K to maiden special company in her latest. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:09 LRL 6th BUTTER PECAN (#1, 8-1) takes big drop in class after being overmatched in three-turn route at Timonium. She finished ahead of five-time winner Foggy Dreams (returned to finish third in a $16,000 starter with a 69 Beyer) and now drops into a strict “two-life” seller here. Lack of early speed might be exacerbated by the steep cutback in distance, but she has some back figures that would make her competitive. Needs some pace help. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:37 LRL 7th No complaints about the trip for BETCHA BY GOLLY (#7, 12-1) in first start for Tim Keefe as Forest Boyce had her close to a slow pace and gave her a big look turning into the stretch. She’s likely going to face a tougher race flow here, but it’s worth noting she shows two bullet drills leading up to this and is entered with new blinkers. Perhaps she’s been working with the new equipment. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:39 GP 7th MARIA’S REVENGE (#1, 9-2) took a step forward when she rallied late to finish third at this level and once again should have speed to run at with Zayas picking up the mount. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:57 KD 6th The race appears to be top-heavy with pace factors and I think CATCH A BID (#7, 8-1) can run them down at a good price. Her near miss at Keeneland this past April going 5.5 furlongs shows she can unleash a good run in a shorter grass race and that distance was too short for her. If the last-start MNR performance is a true guide, she enters in excellent form - won that last one while scarcely seeming to exert. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:11 LAD 2nd SODBUSTER (#3, 6-1) exits a key race where 4 of 8 returned to win with figs of 55, 46, 50, and 37. A return to the dirt can only help as this guy was rank in both turf starts. Expect more class drops like this as the meet comes to an end in 10 days. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:24 WO 7th NOT SO QUIET (#6, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:34 KD 7th SUMMER IN SARATOGA (#8, 12-1) not only has run well in two starts over the KD course, she just might be a better mare than you realize. While the competition was only listed-stakes class, she overcame serious traffic to win the Benson in her first start this season. Then she dumped the jock, was rained onto a sloppy track she couldn’t handle, and finished up the form cycle with a definitive win over a comparable group at IND, after which connections simply aimed to bring a fresh horse into this spot. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:37 LAD 3rd TENSPEED (#5, 5-1) might prove quickest for team Broberg. Current form is poor but we actually like that for a speed horse. If the other speed think this guy is going to tire they will be less likely to press in the early running. Form cycle hints at better and we think this barn will heat up to close out the meet. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:09 KD 8th Think they might have found something cutting GEAR JOCKEY (#4, 10-1) back from routes to sprints, and that this longer one-turn grass race will suit him better than those two sharp trips at Saratoga. Yet even there he ran very well, though Shekky Shebaz, runner up two back in the allowance, is not nearly the same horse he once was. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 6:50 KD 11th First-time starter GARMENTO (#9, 12-1) is the second foal to race from the high-class, Chilean-bred turf performer Guapaza, whose sweet spot was 10-12 furlongs and whose first foal to race, Fairouz, debuted in June at MTH, racing modestly in a turfroute MSW. Obviously on pedigree stamina should be no issue regarding the one-mile trip, which could prove to be on the short side, and the work pattern is solid enough to suggest adequate fitness. -Marcus Hersh | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
