DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, October 10, 2020

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:35 GPW 2nd DRILLOMATIC (#6, 6-1) has done the majority of his campaigning on grass but ran well enough behind the then in form Taos on dirt to merit consideration plunging to this N3L level over the main. Like the fact he’s had plenty of experience around two turns. -Mike Welsch
1:36 LRL 3rd FAIR CATCH (#7, 5-1) returns to surface of maiden victory against winners at this level. Took some pace pressure while racing inside and kept on rolling to defeat three next out winners. Might have to prove his mettle from slightly off the pace this time around. -Dan Illman
1:43 MTH 3rd STANDUP (#5, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck).
2:17 GPW 5th VILLAGE QUEEN (#4, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch).
2:50 GP 6th AYCAPOTE (#1, 10-1) tries the turf for only the second time. Was poorly posted, had little chance in grass debut and bred to handle the going being kin to 4 sibs who’ve won over the turf and out of a mare who was G3 placed over sod. Exits improved showing last time on main, should offer some value stepping up to this spot. -Mike Welsch

2:51 WO 4th TRADING BAY (#5, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).
3:30 WO 5th L’AMOUR TOUJOURS (#2, 4-1) bobbled while going around a fallen rival on the turn before making up some ground in the lane to end up sixth when tagged for the first time for $25K Sept. 24. She’s getting some more class relief in this $15K maiden claimer and should be dangerous if things go her way. -Ron Gierkink
3:53 MTH 8th SERVE THE KING (#1, 7-2) failed as the favorite in the Henry Clark Stakes last time but he hardly ran a poor race, another solid effort and Beyer in a string of them this year; he meets better in this Grade 3 Monmouth Stakes but he’s plenty good enough to handle these if he can work out a clean trip behind the speeds, and there does seem to be enough early zip to set him up the closers. -Kenny Peck
3:58 GP 8th PRINCE OF ARABIA (#11, 4-1) has held own with the likes of Morning Stride and Conviction Trade this season, both of whom would be odds on in this spot. -Mike Welsch
4:02 WO 6th LEAVE IT WITH ME (#2, 8-1) shook loose on the lead through fast fractions before folding in the stretch when going 7 1/2 furlongs on the inner turf in her latest. Five eighths on the inner should suit her to a T. -Ron Gierkink

4:20 MTH 9th PRINCESS GEORGIA (#8, 4-1) ships in from Laurel off some steady Beyers, and while those figures were earned against $10,000 restricted claimers this move into the statebred ranks should be considered a class drop, even though she’s now in for $12,500; she is proven at this track and distance, in fact posting both of her two career wins in routes at Monmouth. -Kenny Peck
4:24 LRL 9th BEACON OF TRUTH (#5, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman).
4:54 LRL 10th Thought the rail was very good at Laurel on August 27 and BIG BOOTS (#5, 5-1) was maneuvered off the inside to split horses three deep in midstretch. He came with his usual solid run, but couldn’t finish with rail-skimming Indian Ghost, who returned to win a $5,000 ‘beaten’ claimer at Pimlico with a 71 Beyer for his third victory in his last four starts. Have to admit I’m getting a bit tired of his bridesmaid act, but perhaps he’s found the right spot with competitive Beyers on display. -Dan Illman
6:12 WO 10th CRYSTAL GLACIER (#4, 12-1) has been sidelined since ending up sixth in a tough N1X on the Saratoga sod July 26. The pricey daughter of Curlin worked extensively on the Tapeta during her time off. -Ron Gierkink
9:03 RP 3rd TURN A DEAF EAR (#4, 6-1) draws a much improved post over her last start, when she broke from the 10-hole going a mile on turf and finished a big second. -Mary Rampellini
9:59 RP 5th OUR LIZZY LOU (#11, 4-1) ran a competitive race at this seven-eighths of a mile trip last out and appears to be working her way back into the winner’s circle. She also owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini
