DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, October 1, 2022

DRF Staff|Sep 30, 2022
Gulfstream Park
Coglianese Photos Gulfstream hosts the first two legs of the Florida Sire Series on Saturday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:40 LRL 1st Looking for a price with MY SUPER SALLY (#8, 20-1), who cuts back from a two-turn route at Pimlico. Didn't do much running that day as she was taken back to last, swung widest into the stretch and kept on in a one-paced manner. She might get a bit more pace to run at turning back to this sprint distance. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:10 WO 1st MUROMEC (#1, 9-2) lacked room along the inside before ending up third in a recent $15K NW3 event, and could earn his third win of the meet in this bottom-level conditioned claimer. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:36 LRL 5th CONGRUENT (#6, 5-1) has turf pedigree as a Tapit half-brother to stakes-winning turf router Oceans Map (entered in today's Japan Turf Cup). The dam was a Grade 2-winning synthetic sprinter (also a stakes-winning turf sprinter). Placed on a hard chase against runaway favored winner Midnight Trouble last time at Delaware, he has the tactical speed to sit close to the pace. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:26 GP 7th CLAPTON (#4, 8-1) back in more suitable spot after taking on G3 company at Parx. Ran big race behind Steal Sunshine in the carry back and should find the distance to his liking having already won impressive at a mile and one sixteenth earlier this year. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:57 GP 8th CAJUN TEASE (#8, 8-1) an interesting member of this lineup coming off what figured to be much needed try in the Susan's Girl. Loved the gallop out after wire and she is a half to Noted and Quoted, who won the G1, one mile and one sixteenth Chandalier during her 2yo campaign. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:16 WO 7th FLOWERS 'N BERRIES (#7, 20-1) came wide from a stalking position to finish a lapped-on second over a track that favored inside/speed in her $25K opener. The daughter of popular Ontario sire Souper Speedy might not be out of her league in this OS/$40K contest. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:29 GP 9th UNIVERSAL PAYDAY (#6, 8-1) eligible for the condition dropping in for the tag and obviously getting much class relief after taking on handicap company in previous try. Was second best to Chocolate Bar two back and that one would be 3-5 or so in this field. Stretch running sort gets ample pace to run down here. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:26 GP 11th KNOWWHENTOFOLDEM (#, 8-1) could be worth a look at the price getting some class relief and rider switch to veteran Vasquez in finale. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:30 HST 4th ELLAMEISTER (#3, 6-1) looks as good as any in what appears to be a wide-open event. She picked things up in her latest work and she galloped out the six furlongs strong with Williams aboard. She is the first foal out of a mare who did not won but her second dam was a Grade 3 sprint winner who romped in her debut. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:28 MED 2nd JOY AND PROSPERITY (#9, 10-1) is out of a dam who posted all of her five career wins on the main track, and her best sibling was also a dirt horse, but this filly has been working well and she seems to meet a field that's average, at best, for the class level; value should be there, too. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:40 WBS (Harness) 3rd ALL STAR YANKEE (#9, 5-1) made a couple of moves last week to win in what was by far his best performance to date. I’ll go price shopping with him in this Ontario-sired Grassroots final, a race that does have quite a few options. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:00 HST 7th MACHINE (#5, 4-1) takes a significant drop in class while making his third start at the meet and the Beyer Speed Figures he received in both of his races would be good enough to win this. He is reunited with Morales who was aboard the last time he won at Century Mile, which came in his final start of 2021. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:35 RP 2nd TYLER'S DREAM (#2, 10-1) is a multiple stakes-placed runner moving back to turf, where she is a winner. | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
