DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026

Oct 23, 2026

Barbara D. Livingston Marcus Hersh is going with Tumbarumba as his selection in Saturday's Fayette at Keeneland.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:38 BEL 2nd FANTASY FORTUNE (#2, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (David Aragona). | Get Past Performances for this race

1:05 WO 1st H C GAMBLE (#2, 8-1) graduated second-time out with the addition of Lasix in a slow seven-furlong Tapeta sprint. The son of 15% turf sprint sire Gamble's Exchange has some grass breeding on the dam's side and is picking up apprentice Douglas, who scored for this owner the other day. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

1:35 LRL 5th TALKING FOOLISH (#3, 9-2) added blinkers for her most recent work on Oct. 18 and outperformed her trainer's expectations, perhaps to the point that he feared taking too much out of her before the race; the filly improved in her stakes debut last time out but was noticeably flat, failing to straighten out until deep stretch and settling for third; the equipment change could be a great help. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race

2:36 KEE 4th Don't see why BALRIGHT (#8, 30-1) is so much worse than the supposedly more formidable players in this middling N1X turf-route allowance, but maybe she really will be 30-1, as the line predicts. Was roughly that price when she won her debut at Ellis, and again in the CD N1X. She's the likely early leader here coming from two sprints into a route, but I think she can stay. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

2:58 GP 6th CREDIT (#6, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get Past Performances for this race

3:20 LRL 8th SHINE ON MOON (#2, 6-1) was rained off the turf at Delaware earlier this month and will instead ship to Laurel in search of her second straight win for Lynch; the mare rallied nicely to win with a 74 Beyer at her home track last time out, and she has only gotten stronger since switching back to turf in August. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race

3:40 KEE 6th JUST FOR PIPA (#3, 6-1) was 19-1 in his debut and not only won, but had something left at the finish, judging by the spirited gallop out. Feels like a horse who could quietly improve second out while generally disregarded in the win pool. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

3:56 BEL 8th This Hudson certainly sets up for a closer with a ton of speed entered; the only horse that really fits that bill is CALDO CANDY (#4, 12-1); some may regard him as simply not good enough, but he did overcome a moderate pace to win at this distance last time, suggesting he's heading here in great form; has been steadily improving through racing all season, and ran two of the best races of his life when coming off Lasix to contest stakes last year. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race

4:04 GP 8th LIST (#7, 15-1) has hit the board in 7 of 10 starts so she is often right there. She broke thru in her 10th start and perhaps that taste of winning carries over today. There are no world beaters in this race you know. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race

4:44 KEE 8th TUMBARUMBA (#9, 12-1) finished third in the $20 million Saudi Cup - that's an accomplishment! Did well in that one-turn 1 1/8-mile contest, but the real surprise to people like me who had him pegged as a miler at heart was the Al Maktoum Challenge the race before Saudi - 1 3/16 miles around two turns was supposed to be too far for this horse, but he stayed on very well against a sharp winner - and all this after leaving the life he'd long known in America to join a new trainer under far different circumstances in Dubai. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race

5:02 BEL 10th It's possible that DONEGAL SURGES (#1, 8-1) just can't run competitively anymore, and there's also some evidence that he prefers racing on Lasix; that said, most of his mass appeal is gone so he figures to be a generous price, and somewhere in there he has the ability to beat a field like this; got the wrong trip from a wide post out of the Wilson Chute last time; has run some of his best races in true one-turn routes, so this 9F configuration at Belmont should suit him; seems to be training more consistently now since missing some works over the summer. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race

5:26 WO 9th DADDY'S THE BOSS (#8, 10-1) comes off a flat fifth in a recent turf experiment traveling 7 1/2 furlongs around two turns on the inner course. She was previously in solid Tapeta form going 6 1/2 furlongs and could clear the non-three OS allowance condition in this seven-furlong event. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

5:35 BEL 11th SAIL WITH THE WIND (#3, 8-1) may not have run the best race of those exiting the Yaddo, but she was undoubtedly competitive with some fillies and mares who figure to take more money than she will once again; that race completely fell apart late, and she was the one who made the first move before stalling in deep stretch; has been in career-best form this year, and drew well inside after not seeing the rail in either of her last two starts at the Spa. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race

6:27 WO 11th ELUSIVE YAUPON (#9, 10-1) had a wide trip over a rail-favoring track when a non-threatening seventh in her latest on the Tapeta. She was previously a lapped-on third in a six-furlong sprint on the main turf and note that she nearly broke her maiden at first asking in a five-furlong inner turf dash at 2. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race

7:39 SA 8th There is sufficient speed in this allowance race at six furlongs to give the talented DUKE SILVER (#6, 5-1) an early target. Trained by Mark Glatt, Duke Silver was a well-beaten second to Liam Smith in a similar race on Sept. 26, failing to keep pace in the stretch but finishing 4 1-4 lengths clear of third. Liam Smith has been pre-entered in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 31. Duke Silver beat maidens in June by racing near the front throughout. - Steve Andersen | Get Past Performances for this race
