1:10 WO 1st INDY ONE (#6, 4-1) prevailed in a front-end battle en route to finishing a clear second when returning from another layoff in a shorter sprint at this level Oct. 13. – Ron Gierkink

1:49 GP 4th EMONA ROSSA (#2, 8-1) exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 58 and 60. This filly gets in super light again and was getting good before the layoff. What if she is more mature now? Connections find a good spot and this filly gets some pace to chase if the two speeds slated next door stay in. – Scott Ehlers

2:40 AQU 7th I SEE YOU LOOKIN (#4, 8-1) defeated a weak field when taking his dirt debut in a race that was originally scheduled for turf; came right back with an improved performance to make it 2 for 2 on the surface when scoring easily over another weak field; cuts back with tactical speed for a trainer who can keep them going once he gets them good. – Mike Beer

3:40 AQU 9th MASTER PIECE (#8, 5-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).

4:16 GP 9th CASHIER CHECK (#2, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).

4:50 WO 8th LOVE TO SHOP (#10, 5-1) finished second to the future champion female sprinter Loyalty in this G2 last year with Stein aboard. She rallied four-wide to lose a heartbreaker most recently in a G3 won by A GAME, who had a good trip along the inside. Both are making their third start after an extended layoff. – Ron Gierkink

5:16 GP 11th MAILMAN MONEY (#8, 12-1) didn't fire off the layoff but didn't get much play when sent off at 15-1. Zayas gets a leg up even though Joseph has a runner in this race. Those turf tries before the layoff bode well for this. The last time this guy saw claimers he won for fun only four back. – Scott Ehlers

5:30 DMR 5th PRINCE DOLCE (#5, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free).

7:30 DMR 9th ENJOY IT STRAIT (#5, 5-1), a 10-for-23 pro, returns to Cal-bred N1X/optional claiming after he was compromised by the race shape and finished last in an open $40k claiming turf route. The pace collapsed; the one-two finishers rallied from the back. 'STRAIT also has an alibi for his last-place finish two back. It was a N1X marathon that was simply too far. But his starter allowance win on DMR turf in summer was strong; he won his last two starts vs. state-bred company including a turf route. Entered for the optional $20k claim tag, removing blinkers, he could tuck into a cozy trip just off the speed. – Brad Free
