DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, November 7, 2026
:quality(75))
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:00 LRL 1st J CANDY (#11, 9-2) has switched between turf and dirt in recent starts for Rodriguez and will get back to grass at Laurel, which seems to be her preferred surface based on her form at Delaware; the filly won a state-retracted stakes at Delaware in July with a 77 Beyer and took a bigger shot at the track in September, finishing a respectable sixth with a 79 Beyer against tougher stakes rivals; this is a far more forgiving spot where she seems to be an overwhelming presence. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race
12:10 BEL 2nd BOURBON MADNESS (#4, 8-1) has been steadily progressing from race to race; was simply outrun sprinting on debut, then didn't run as badly as it looks when stuck wide around both turns facing tougher two back; woke up last time when racing in traffic for much of her trip before bursting through for third when finding a seam late; can continue moving forward here and like that Fresu stays put. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race
1:33 WO 2nd SANS DANCER (#2, 10-1) landed on the edges the only time she tried the lawn in a five-furlong inner turf dash July 20. A slow pace hindered her chances most recently and she has speed to close into in this 6 1/2-furlong main turf tilt. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race
1:48 GP 4th PARDON MY DOLLY (#11, 9-2) ran well off the layoff and again draws outside. Her tactical speed comes in handy as there isn't that much pace in this race. Perez keeps the faith while team Cazares are 13% second off this type of layoff. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
2:28 CD 4th NO WHAT IFS (#6, 5-1) didn't race between last October and this past August and in her three races back has not looked like the same horse she was pre-layoff. But ... as a value proposition, now would be the time, on a class drop and the chance of a favorable race flow, to guess she has at least one race in her approaching her best 2025 form. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
2:35 WO 4th FABER (#3, 6-1) beat conditioned allowance/optional-claiming company with a rail rally two back under Wilson and had a four-wide trip on the turn most recently when fifth in the Grand Valley Stakes for Ontario-breds. He's a good fit in this 1 1/14-mile conditioned allowance if it remains on the main turf. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race
3:12 BEL 8th IGNITER (#8, 8-1) will have to produce a career-best effort to take down both favorites, but he seems ready for a step forward; didn't get a chance to show his true ability last time in the Pennsylvania Derby after getting cut off at the start going a distance that may be too far for him anyway; was a decisive winner over a mile two back, and has shown the ability to rally from just off the pace, which should serve him well in this speed-laden affair. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race
3:18 GP 7th NIMBLE JACK (#1, 6-1) is by a 9% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). His dam went 11-0-0-1 and earned 5K. Of 5 sibs to race, 4 won and all 4 beat winners (111K (won 2YO debut), 94K, 177K, and 706K (full sister). Works are perfect including that near bullet on the 29th. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
3:43 BEL 9th TAP TO OPEN (#3, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (David Aragona). | Get Past Performances for this race
3:48 GP 8th OSHALA (#7, 8-1) has run well in four of her last five starts. She can fire fresh and might even prefer it. Race flow is fine all for a lightly raced 5YO that has hit the exacta on this surface in 6 of 10 starts. This barn is 33% with their repeating winners. - Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race
3:52 LRL 9th PINOTSLILGIRL (#4, 4-1) has been a machine while switching between Shankle and Sanchez-Salomon, winning five of her last six starts going back to July 2025; she continues to be placed well, and though she isn't a standout on figures here, she can be trusted to dig in as needed against comparable rivals. - Patrick Moquin | Get Past Performances for this race
4:14 BEL 10th Have been waiting for THIRSTED (#4, 12-1) to get back into a turf sprint since watching him compete on this circuit as a 2YO; ran well in his debut going this distance before getting involved in a fast pace second time out; since then, he has mostly run long on turf or short on dirt; don't think he really wants to do either of those things; finally gets another chance to sprint on grass in an appropriate spot. - David Aragona | Get Past Performances for this race
4:24 CD 8th Maybe MERCANTE (#2, 8-1) has gone well past his peak performances and is never getting back to his best - but his Wise Dan just two starts and four months ago could win this! G1 Turf Mile last out always was going to be the wrong spot for him, but hoping that race and blinkers back on sharpen him up - he has the chance to be lone speed here, and ran well over the November CD turf when third with the wrong trip in this race a year ago. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
4:55 CD 9th Stablemates VIAGGIO (#4, 8-1) and Stormed Off worked in company Oct. 8, and while we never know from the outside a trainer's true intent with a breeze, watching video of this drill you'd take Viaggio 100 times out of 100. In fact, she worked sharply enough that I think she stands a great chance of winning her dirt debut. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
5:25 CD 10th C K WONDER (#4, 10-1) has gone through his issues, if you look back over the career pps with scratches folded in, but seem to me he has finally come right. Cross out the sloppy-track dud three back and the form starts to look progressive and plenty strong for this spot. Autodrive was a well-meant, capable horse at KEE, finishing more than 10 clear of third, and C K did well to wear him down. Very positive physical impression on video in the 10/31 CD blowout. - Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
5:31 DMR 5th STORMY SUNSET (#6, 8-1) was on the lead in her lone turf try to date, in her career debut, but she showed a strong closing kick in her latest and that versatility should come in handy in this sprint, as there's a fair amount of speed in this race; may be able to make the last run if she gets a clean trip and the fractions are quick and contested, as expected. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race
6:03 DMR 6th BIG REFLECTIONS (#10, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get Past Performances for this race
6:12 WO 11th LET IT ALL OUT (#5, 10-1) ran quite wide all the way over an inside-preferred track when fourth in her first try at this non-two class. She could get the money at a square price if things go her way. - Ron Gierkink | Get Past Performances for this race
7:33 DMR 9th There's a fair amount of early foot signed on for this nightcap and that should work to the advantage of WAITING FOR YOU (#3, 12-1), who should be running late; she was behind a couple of these same runners in her latest but SOUL SISTER and DARE GREATLY controlled the tempo in that race and a pressured pace seems likely this time around. - Kenny Peck | Get Past Performances for this race
11:14 RP 9th FLEBOTOMIST (#3, 6-1) drew blood in his first two starts with a couple seconds. There's little or no turf in the pedigree but he's shown some talent and his main rivals are stuck way outside. That might add up to an upset. He's kin to two-time winner Czechitout. - Michael Hammersly | Get Past Performances for this race
