12:20 TUP 3rd I'M NOBLE (#2, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race  12:44 TAM 2nd LUCKY DAY A'COMIN (#4, 15-1) was off the board in his last pair, his first two tries on the turf, but he moved prematurely each time; perhaps good enough against this seemingly average field if he can make a better timed run. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race 12:50 GP 1st LOVE MAMI LOVE (#1, 7-2) hung in her last two going longer, won't mind the cutback in distance and moves inside where she should be able to save some ground early. Joseph 26% the past five years second off the claim as well. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race  1:04 LRL 3rd GOLDEN WILDCAT (#9, 6-1) doesn't boast a ton of turf pedigree, but he's been a consistent performer on dirt out of town, and stretches out with the early speed to get forward on the first turn. Perhaps those good wet-track efforts dotted on his form bode well for success on softer turf going. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race  1:20 OP 1st MR CREED (#8, 10-1) gets the nod. He cut back to one turn last out and could be sharper here, in his second straight sprint start. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race  1:43 WO 2nd PINO IN A PURSE (#4, 8-1) has been freshened since her successful winter stint at Tampa. She's a six-time winner in 14 starts on synthetics and rarely runs a bad one. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  2:25 OP 3rd DATA STORM (#6, 5-1) might get an ideal setup behind a few of these. He also owns the field's co-highest last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race  2:33 LRL 6th BATH AND TENNIS (#10, 12-1) didn't run particularly well in the first start off the Wong reclaim, but she gets some class relief this afternoon, and has the tactical speed to be in the thick of things when they swing into the long stretch. Faced a horse that ran away and hid in that 4/15 heat, and that one might turn out to be a useful turf sprinter. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race  2:40 TAM 5th GLEAMING BRUTALITY (#8, 6-1) failed as the favorite in that last one but she did make a bold middle move there before she flattened out in the lane; prior Beyer gives her strong credibility, if she can run to it. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  3:19 GP 6th PACIFIC PRINCESS (#1, 9-2) just missed in her only try on Tapeta in a super key race that produced three next-out winners, four if Princess had kept a straight path in her next start, and comes into this off a series of solid races on turf at Tampa Bay. She gets in light with Morales up, has enough speed to take advantage of her inside post and should get a cozy trip from a forward position. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race  3:30 WO 5th GLENHOLME (#7, 6-1) has been gelded since an improved third-place finish vs. $16K maidens going long on the Tapeta at Gulfstream March 30. He shouldn't be out of his league vs. these OS/$40K maidens while turning back to seven-eighths. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  3:50 TUP 4th ACE AND KINGS (#4, 6-1) returned off the long layoff and ran great at odds of 2-1. His follow up and most recent wasn't quite as good but that is understandable. It didn't help that he was hooked every step of the way. Now he goes third off the layoff and catches a race light on pace. Win rider stays put. This barn is 21% with their claimers and they show a flat bet profit. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  3:51 GP 7th ROUGH AND ROWDY (#6, 9-2) is moving up, but he took a step forward in his second start and he did steady slightly early so he might not be as far behind here. He also had to alter course mid-stretch. He could be sitting on a big effort in just his third start and D'Angelo has strong numbers first off the claim: 28% since 2019. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race  4:08 LRL 9th BODE'S MAKER (#7, 4-1) went unbeaten after being claimed by Ness and switched to turf. Pushed fast fractions in last start at Monmouth, inhaled the runaway leader, and stayed to his task to score without much fuss. Don't love the 272-day layoff coming into this heat, but barn is 6 for the last 17 (35%, $2.96 ROI) with turf routers returning from layoffs between six months and one year. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race  4:19 BEL 8th THIN WHITE DUKE (#5, 5-1) won routing when initially switched to turf last year and even ran well in a nine-furlong race when close to a fast pace last June, but he really blossomed when cut back to sprint through the second half of 2022 while posting a couple of wins, including a stake, and just missing to Golden Pal in the Troy. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  5:08 TAM 9th THE BIG CALICO (#5, 12-1) was unable to make the lead in that abbreviated, off-the-turf sprint in his latest, but he could well be the one to catch in this longer race; the figures he posted two and three back make him a top contender, and he can run to them if he's able to get clear in the opening stages. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  6:23 WO 10th HALLIE'S HERO (#4, 15-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race  GETTING EXOTIC CHURCHILL DOWNS RACE 11 TURF CLASSIC/KY DERBY DAILY DOUBLE RACE 11: UP TO THE MARK ran a big race for the show in the Makers Mark Mile, which was a little short on speed and thus favored the frontrunners. This colt rallied with some interest there and earned a competitive Beyer despite running against the race flow; can win the Turf Classic given a clean trip and an honest pace to chase (1). RACE 12: The fact that AE Cyclone Mischief scratches into the Kentucky Derby field changes the complexion of the race, and gives the closers even more of an edge than they may have otherwise enjoyed. Any number of runners can win this race, including favorites Forte and Tapit Trice, but given the relative light prices and the lack of a clear figure advantage for either it seems wise to try to beat them both. DISARM ran a deceptively good race for the show in the Lexington, making a mid-race move and sustaining it well enough to the wire; against the flow in his prior pair, he seems to be sitting on a move forward. DERMA SOTOGAKE has speed but can also rate, and that versatility will come in handy in this bulky field. VERIFYING is another with speed, and if he can avoid a race-long duel he could be sitting an ideal trip. ANGEL OF EMPIRE benefited from the race flow in the Arkansas Derby but he was a visually impressive winner, and he may well get the same type of set up today. MANDARIN HERO certainly fits off the Beyer he posted in the Santa Anita Derby and he figures to be overlooked some as he draws in off the AE list. ROCKET CAN adds blinkers and sports some sharp works since his last try (6). THE PLAY ($100 BANKROLL): $10 DOUBLE 5 / 2, 11, 14, 17, 18, 22 ($60) $20 DOUBLE 5 / 11 ($20) $10 DOUBLE 5 / 17, 22 ($20)
