Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:10 OP 1st GOOD HEART (#8, 4-1) is appealing off a quick race against a quality kind of winner. -Mary Rampellini 1:20 TAM 3rd ALMA PURA (#9, 6-1) has been sprinting on the main track but she has turf experience, and she had race-flow related excuses for her most recent pair of losses on the green; may be good enough against this modest group given a slight move forward off those lines. -Kenny Peck  2:53 WO 4th AMERICAN GAMBLE (#3, 6-1) is back on her home track after playing the role of a fringe performer at Gulfstream and is the lone winter-raced runner on Tapeta in this starter/optional claimer. -Ron Gierkink 2:54 TAM 6th MEGA GLORIOUS (#2, 12-1) makes his first start off the claim and he can pay quick dividends for new owner/trainer Xavier Rivera, as his good late kick should come in handy in this speed-filled sprint; he goes longer today but may appreciate the added distance. -Kenny Peck  3:00 BAQ 5th WHAT A BLAST (#1, 10-1) has only run twice on turf so far; ran fine when showing speed in his surface debut early on, then didn't get back to the grass for over a year, where he dueled and weakened behind a pair of next-out winners in an entry-level allowance; interesting switching back at the right level with speed after winning on dirt two back. -Mike Beer 3:04 GP 5th MOJAVE DESERT (#2, 8-1) is by a 10% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. Two of three sibs won on the grass and both beat winners to the tune of 122K and 110K. What if this filly has matured since last seen as a 2YO? Works are perfect and this barn is quite good off a medium layoff at 23%. Zayas keep the faith and we like that as much as anything. -Scott Ehlers  3:12 LAD 2nd NERVY (#8, 5-1) draws outside in this elongated sprint and that was the place to be last meet. He has tactical speed to help the trip and goes for a barn that is 16% going turf to dirt. Class drop can only help as this colt goes third out for new barn. Did that good track hurt two back? Those sprint wins three and four back bode well for this. -Scott Ehlers  3:12 OP 5th THREEFIFTYSEVEN (#4, 12-1) is appealing from a class standpoint as he exits a quick starter allowance. And note the third-place finisher from the race was to have run back in the opener Saturday. -Mary Rampellini  3:25 LRL 8th NO MORE KISSES (#2, 7-2) is a half-sister to Grade 2-winning dirt sprinter Shancelot (won first three starts), Grade 2-placed dirt sprinter One True Kiss (won debut), stakes-placed dirt sprinter Sweet Kisses (78 Beyer), and Grade 3-placed synthetic miler Tiz Kissable (won debut) by a sire that clicks with 17% of his debut runners. The dam was a stakes-winning dirt miler (88 dirt Beyer) and she is a half to Grade 1-winning turf miler Silver Max. -Dan Illman  3:33 GP 6th Let us see what SIX FEET APART (#1, 6-1) can do with a favorable race shape as she looks to find the front end. She draws the rail for the third time in a row so she should be used to it, right? She has won twice on this Tapeta and at this distance. The drop from open foes to restricted could prove the tipping point but more so an early breather. -Scott Ehlers  3:55 TAM 8th SANDY LANE KITTEN (#9, 10-1) has good early foot and could shake loose in the opening stages, which would give him an edge in this turf route, which is fairly light on speed; he's been running well in defeat of late on the main track and he's probably better on this surface. -Kenny Peck  4:05 BAQ 7th HOT ROD RUMBLE (#3, 5-1) wasn't in poor form through the winter upon returning from Finger Lakes, but he was dropped sharply by Jacobson anyway when wheeled back on short rest at the end of March, and he made that field pay at a short price; speedy 5yo only moves up slightly in class off the claim for a hot trainer. -Mike Beer  4:06 LAD 4th PAYTON'S INDIAN (#7, 10-1) didn't fire last out even though she got some play when sent off at 5-1. Did she not like being stuck between runners? The blinkers go ON today and that is a 40% move for this barn. Borel gets a leg up and is 22% for this barn locally. There isn't much pace in this race so this filly won't be that far back in the early running. -Scott Ehlers  4:07 GP 7th OUT OF BOUNDS (#7, 6-1) is by a 24% debut sire and a 23% debut turf sire. His dam went 22-7-2-5 and earned 735K with 676K on the turf. This is her first foal. Works are fine and this gelding should love a turf route all for a barn that is 17% with their first time starters. -Scott Ehlers  4:55 TAM 10th SWING LOW (#11, 10-1) can wrap things up here with a repeat of his latest, a strong effort where he nearly overcome a speed-friendly race flow to get up in time; needs pace but given an honest tempo he can be along in time. -Kenny Peck  5:00 LAD 6th AMERICAN DOLLARS (#6, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).  5:32 GG 2nd ROUSING JEWEL (#1, 6-1) starts from the inside post and appears to be the pacesetter. She can lead throughout this six-furlong race, having won in that manner at 2. This is the second start of 2024 for Rousing Jewel, who was a good third in an allowance race in March after chasing a quick pace. -Steve Andersen  5:40 TUP 7th NOW N LATER GATOR (#8, 6-1) draws the attack post for the distance and has tactical speed to help his trip all with the best upside. This barn is 24% with horses that have won their last race. There is other speed in here but not a ton and this gelding can stalk if needed. -Scott Ehlers 5:51 WO 10th STOLEN (#1, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).  6:10 BAQ 11th LU'S REDEMPTION (#10, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). 6:10 SA 8th The familiar faces are only okay, this is a good spot to take a shot with first-time starter WHERE'S THE LOOT (#7, 5-1). His most recent five-furlong work (viewed on XBTV.com) was in company with recent maiden-50 winner The Big Cheeseola; 'LOOT worked on the inside and held his own against his established workmate. -Brad Free 6:10 TUP 8th FLY NIGHTLY (#9, 12-1) didn't do much in his most recent but he was racing locally for only the second time and didn't get a clean start. He puts three races together and stays on the turf which is his best surface. Class drop and some pace to chase can only help. -Scott Ehlers  6:57 CD 12th DOMESTIC PRODUCT (#15, 30-1) doesn't have the Beyers of the top contenders but he has lots of room to improve in this Kentucky Derby given faster fractions than he got in his two 2024 preps for this, the Tampa Bay Derby and the Holy Bull; he was able to get up in time in his latest despite those tepid splits and he will almost certainly get a much more favorable set up today, and he will be a very square price. -Kenny Peck  7:30 TUP 9th I AM FREAKY FAST (#10, 15-1) drops in class and goes third off the layoff. This barn is 33% turf to dirt, 29% on the dirt, 40% in routes, 29% with their claimers and allowance runners. He has worked twice since his most recent and that rounds out the appeal. -Scott Ehlers
