Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 1:12 CD 5th This essentially is Round 2 of the Shakertown run last month at Keeneland - seven out of that race come back in this one. YELLOW CARD (#7, 9-2) probably ran best in that race. All credit to victorious My Boy Prince, but he got a dream trip while Yellow Card had trouble. No fault of jockey but he was squeezed back while in a thicket of horses going toward the half-mile pole, forcing the rider to check, costing YC momentum and several lengths. Brushed with Litigation when both were making an outside run, and, as often has been the best, did not change leads smoothly, something I wish he'd correct. That Shakertown didn't at all come out of nowhere - check out his Clockers Corner, albeit against lesser, and the way he hit the line there after some early trouble, though less than last out. He's 1-1 on the course, though fear he's going to take a lot of betting here. – Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race 1:45 OP 2nd ANTE UP TONY (#8, 6-1) exits a race that went in good time. The race came in the slop, and she might be best served if the strip is fast as her maiden win came under such "conditions." – Mary Rampellini | Get Past Performances for this race 2:45 GP 4th FURYS CHARM (#5, 8-1) just won gate to wire to break her maiden but that was going two turns and this is not. Why does that matter? Because there is good speed in here and we want an off the pace runner. Team Weaver are 14% going route to sprint. This filly exits a key race where 2 of 7 returned to win with figs of 52 and 54. Connections find a logical spot to face first time winners. – Scott Ehlers | Get Past Performances for this race 5:07 GP 8th VEKOMASAN (#9, 15-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get Past Performances for this race 5:48 WO 9th AMERICAN WOMEN (#7, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get Past Performances for this race 5:54 BAQ 10th DYLAN'S RUBY (#1, 4-1) just missed nailing a front-running winner when let go at a big price in his turf debut last June, for which he earned an 89 Beyer; tried turf again at the end of the year, where he once again acquitted himself well; breaks from a good post with a tactical running style. – Mike Beer | Get Past Performances for this race 6:57 CD 12th What are the chances that a very veteran trainer who had never won a Derby outright and a veteran jockey who had never won a Derby at all - or come even close - could capture two in a row? It can happen with CHIEF WALLABEE (#12, 8-1), trained by Bill Mott, ridden by Junior Alvarado. Totally different circumstances than Sovereignty last year. Mott had the Derby in mind for Sovereignty when he sent him to Churchill to race during the fall of his 2-year-old season. Chief Wallabee didn't even debut until he turned 3. Undeniable talent. Clearly bested Tampa Bay Derby winner and Derby foe The Puma in their common debut. Jumped into the G2 Fountain of Youth, the much more experienced Commandment got through on the rail while the Chief had to go wide - Commandment by a neck. Florida Derby, Chief Wallabee went slightly flat at the furlong grounds - a costly loss of focus. Was not tired, was not psychologically beaten, because he galloped out in front. Addition of blinkers has kept his head straight in the last two works - he used to cock it to the right in the homestretch. And I think they'll give him that last bit of concentration that can win him the Derby. – Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race 8:15 SA 9th The second start by MEDJUGORJE (#6, 8-1) was vastly improved over her debut, and stamps the filly the one to beat in this maiden turf mile. After finishing next-to-last in her sprint debut, she stretched to a mile and ran well despite ground loss. Four- and five-wide, she finished well in a race won by her sibling-stablemate Lubie's Music. Decent effort by MEDJUGORJE, who is likely to make a forward move second time around two turns. – Brad Free | Get Past Performances for this race 8:33 CD 14th BIG JAKE (#9, 8-1) is listed at 8-1 but I wouldn't be surprised to see him favored. The SoCal work video is very encouraging, including a recent drill where he held his own with graded-stakes class Desert Gate. Looks like a horse who'll suit this 7f distance and well-drawn for a favorable stalking trip. – Marcus Hersh | Get Past Performances for this race
