DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, March 11, 2023

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
11:55 TAM 1st WILD IRISHMAN (#10, 10-1) may be worth a shot at a square price after a deceptively decent try in his latest, when he closed with some interest late; against a speed bias two back in his first start of 2023 and he may be set for his best yet in his third start off the layoff. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
1:38 GP 3rd MINXY (#5, 15-1) had a very limited work tab coming into her debut and ran gamely disputing pace with odds on Mama Maria before folding tents late. Expect her to move well forward off the effort, perhaps enough to spring upset if avoiding similar early conflict with same rival in rematch. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
1:57 TAM 5th DANCE FEVER (#5, 5-1) has posted three wins in six starts over this strip, including the Wayward Lass Stakes two back, where she wore down PASS THE CHAMPAGNE in deep stretch to score in game fashion; may well want more ground than this but good enough with the right kind of set up. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:27 TAM 6th KAELY'S FANTASY is kin to five prior winners, including Kaely's Sister, who won five races, including her own career debut; this filly sports a couple of breezes that suggest she'll come out running for trainer Dennis Ward. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:55 AQU 5th ADERO (#3, 5-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race
2:55 TUP 1st SAVONA (#6, 9-2) is by a 9% debut sire. Her dam went 3-0-0-1 and earned 7K. All 4 sibs beat winners and earned 65K, 77K, 76K, and 135K (one debut 2YO winner). Works are well spaced and this filly draws outside for her debut. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
3:55 AQU 7th BELLA PRINCIPESSA (#2, 6-1) has been effective on both surfaces but did like the form she was in early last year when concentrating on dirt for this trainer; finally got a layoff after fading when last seen at Saratoga and starts back for a barn that has good numbers with horses like this - 180+ day layoff, dirt, sprint: 4 for last 13, 31%, $6.82 ROI. - Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
4:18 OP 6thGaffalione - in town to ride Secret Oath for Lukas - teams with Triple Crown nominee MAJOR BLUE (#3, 12-1) from the same barn. This one made the move to two turns last out and ran a credible fourth in what was his first race since September. The winner that afternoon was to have run back in a local allowance Thursday. – Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
4:22 TUP 4th FAIRY TALE BLISS (#1, 15-1) just won for fun on this sod and that had to be a prep for this. This mare gets to save all the early ground. Win rider stays put. Why can't this mare improve second time on this sod? This barn is 33% with horses that won their last race. Lone knock is that this barn has yet to get untracked at this meet which really surprises us. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
5:06 GP 10th LUDINGTON (#7, 8-1) stays put off the claim by barn which owns high marks with new acquisitions. Needs only a little forward move to get back on winning track following a prolonged absence. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
6:04 GP 12th JOE PHILLIPS (#11, 8-1) ran credibly over synthetic tracks earlier in his career, now back over the surface and nicely spotted dropping for this tag while also turning back to a sprint off steady diet of longer races. Might have enough of a fitness edge to be along in time if able to keep within hailing distance early on in the finale. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
