DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, June 5, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:15 MTH 1st MOONSHINE MAKER (#7, 7-2) is out of a dam who was best sprinting but he hails from the barn of Kelly Breen, who wins at a good rate (20%) with a strong ROI ($2.32) with horses moving from sprints to routes; dam and her other foals were best sprinting but this gelding could prove tough here with a forward trip from the outside, the type of trip that works well over this strip. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:42 MTH 2nd LUXERO (#2, 5-2) is down in price but also in class, exiting open claimers (albeit against strictly 3-year-olds) and now entered against non-winners of two lifetime; he’s an upgrade candidate off his latest, a race which featured a race flow that was extremely favorable to speeds (note the inverted “S” in DRF pp’s) and he also had little chance two back, when caught behind slow early splits. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:49 GP 2nd NANTAN LUPAN (#7, 4-1) is by the good speed/debut sire Khozan, and his dam dropped seven winners, including stakes-winning sprinter R Sassy Lass ($174K). Over the past two years, Yates scored at 17% clip with maiden 3yo first-timers (6.64 ROI). -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:08 PIM 2nd GINS AND TINS (#2, 8-1) did not have a good trip when the beaten favorite in his seasonal debut. He was sandwiched at the start, wound up well behind the gate-towire winner and was forced seven paths wide turning into the stretch. He failed to change leads in the stretch, but was running on at the end and should benefit with that race under his girth. New barn has three “off the claim” winners this year. He’s won going second off the layoff in the past, but will need some pace help up front. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:10 MTH 3rd BERYL’s (#7, 4-1) dam was winless in seven starts but she did produced a winner in Crackin Jon, a sprinter who won six races, including his own career debut; this filly has shown some speed in the morning, and she lands in a race that appears to be relatively paceless, which could mean she’s able to control the pace from the start if she’s able to break alertly. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:19 GP 3rd WONDER BLONDY (#1, 15-1) missed the break by three lengths and then had no shot racing well off a sleepy pace when fifth in a recent optional claimer. She’s dropping to $20K, and could break through at a square price in her second appearance at the meet. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:07 PIM 4th MIKEY’S JEWEL (#5, 8-1) didn’t have an easy trip in turf debut. She was pinched back at the start, raced far off the pace along the inside, wound up in between horses on the far turn and swung widest turning for home. She still ran on a little bit in the stretch, but will likely need a bit of pace help as she likes to rally from out of it. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:32 MTH 6th OMNIA (#1, 5-1) has the hedge and some speed, and in a turf route that’s light on pace that’s no small advantage; she’ll take them as far as she can on the lead under jockey Jose Ferrer, who is at his best with loose speeds in two-turn grass races. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:31 LS 3rd DELICIOUS PURSUIT (#3, 9-2) makes a rare appearance on the main track and shows a sharp half-mile move in preparation for the task at hand. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:45 LAD 1st HUMPHREY (#1, 3-1) ran better last out and it came with the move here. He has now hit the board in both local starts and puts them together for the first time. Once again he draws the rail going two turns so no problems there. Go to rider gets a leg up in Guerrero (39% with Wilson). -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:03 LAD 4th WAR ROGUE (#6, 8-1) ran a Beyer top two back when breaking his maiden but it was his last race that intrigues us. He was trying seven furlongs for the first time and then he reared at the start. Most runners would spit the bit right there but this guy buckled down and actually beat a few home while getting a Beyer only four points below his maiden breaker. We love how connections want seven panels right back. A better break should make all the difference and notice that Nieves stays put. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:13 GP 10th POSITIVE PHIL (#4, 9-2) ran the race of his life last time when crushing $12.5K conditioned rivals at a mile with an 81 Beyer, which is the Beyer par for this open $12.5K level. Berrios appears to have his hole card. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:29 LAD 5th TOUGH CHARLIE (#6, 4-1) gets class relief by escaping Evangeline and Sam Houston turf foes. We know that this gelding prefers this sod and he even shows better front speed when here. This barn is quite good with their turf sprinters at 20%. A good post to try and crack the inside speeds if indeed the front is wanted. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:30 MTH 12th DEVAMANI (#4, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:19 LS 9th DANCIN ALL ALONE (#7, 8-1) is a consistent performer and she shortens up some to a distance over which she is both a winner and earned her best career Beyer Speed Figure. On a pedigree point, her winning dam ran out $86K. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:21 LAD 7th OUR FREDDIE MAC (#9, 8-1) is by a 20% debut sire. His dam went 10-1-1-1 and earned 20K. Both sibs won including a multiple winner of 176K (6 for 17). Bullet works hint at speed. MIGHTY ABLE just ran better. Race flow is above average and this gelding can pass runners. Second time this dirt is a plus. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
