DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, June 24, 2023
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
1:44 WO 2nd GALLOPING D'ORO breezed a fast half-mile in company from the gate over a quick surface a week ago. The son of elite sire Medaglia d'Oro is from a mare who's yet to have a grass winner, but she produced three stakes winners, including the G3-winning debut winners Amis Gizmo and Ami's Flatter. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:32 MTH 5th DUCHESS OF DESTIN (#5, 6-1) is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the grass. Lone turf sibling is 4-1-2-0 on the grass and earned 75K (finished 2nd in lone route turf race). This filly got play in her debut when sent off at 2-1 but broke mid pack and then ran evenly for the most part. She got race experience and that is what counts the most. She has worked three times since. Homebred should like two turns on the turf and figures a good price. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:52 WO 4th WINYAH BAY (#7, 12-1) was eased up late after hitting a wall of traffic in the stretch when switching to the grass for her second start off the shelf. She could make some noise as a longshot in this easier turf sprint. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:59 WO 6th PLEASURE'S GOLD (#3, 12-1) was competitive in two legs of a four-race stakes series for Ontario-sired 3yo fillies last year, which included an eye-catching score at Fort Erie. She won her season opener vs. NW3 OS allowance company easily with an 85 Beyer, and should be prominent in this deep OS stakes with Hernandez back aboard. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:24 MTH 9th SELF ISOLATION (#9, 6-1) hasn't been seen on the grass in a while even though she is bred to love it (348 turf Tomlinson). A few things to unpack here including the fact that this gal was right there with a furlong to go in his last two turf starts which came at Del Mar going long. She is better now. Form cycle hints at improvement, she draws great, and she has tactical speed. Trainer stats are solid for the most part and Cruz just won with this mare. Running without Lasix is the X factor. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:26 GP 8th MR. PEEKS (#5, 4-1) showed off plenty of talent at second asking behind the 1/45 A La Carte earlier this year, was over-matched in Fla Derby but bounced back with impressive maiden win and looked good on tape working for his return. May be sitting on best yet. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
