DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, June 19, 2021

DRF Staff|Jun 18, 2021
Start at Woodbine - 06/12/2021
Michael Burns El esperado reinicio de la actividad en Woodbine

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:40 PIM 1st OUR HOISTED MAST (#3, 7-2) is perfect on this surface and he overcame a poor start to win a $16K claimer for 3-year-olds two back. He looked like the winner just about every step of the way in his latest and could get a nice trip from a stalking position here. He is facing older horses for the first time but he is on an upward trend and we may not have seen his best yet. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

12:42 MTH 2nd WILLIAM CROTTY (#2, 7-2) has some early zip but can also rate, and that tactical speed should mean he works out a favorable trip just off the pacesetters, as he did in his wins three and four back; well off the board last time but that was a sprint where he pressed a fast pace in the early stages, and he was facing open claimers there, and in his prior start. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:10 MTH 3rd SHENDAM (#7, 3-1) was overmatched against better in his first start off a short freshening and he was also at a disadvantage in terms of pace, as the winner was loose on the lead and the fractions were mild; Beyers are steady, and though he will be looking to make the last run there does seem to be enough pace to set him up. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:19 GP 5th BRIELLA (#4, 9-2) no match for C’MON KAREN in their previous meeting but has the speed to be dangerous in the rematch going for new hands off the claim. C’mon Karen back to a bit easier spot and perhaps more suitable distance after hanging a bit vs. better after wide trip last time. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:33 MTH 8th With plenty of speed in this field it would seem to set up nicely for a closer, and B B’S BUSTED (#8, 10-1) may be the one to benefit most, as she has been against speedfavoring race slows in three of her last four starts; if the pace scenario does in fact play out as expected she should be well positioned to run them all down late. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:56 WO 6th EMMELINE (#11, 15-1) finished on the edges in all three of her 2020 outings vs. stakes opposition, including a third in the prestigious Princess Elizabeth. She’s been working bullets for her return to action and merits top billing in this seven-furlong maiden special. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:37 LAD 3rd RIVER DEPUTY (#2, 15-1) is the value. Recent starts are better and now this mare gets back to routing which she does best. This mare is only six years of age and it was only last summer that she was consistently running Beyers in the mid 50’s while routing. Wouldn’t that figure fit here? -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:51 PIM 9th PAPAL LAW (#3, 4-1) ran into a tough group when he came back from a lengthy layoff in the $100K Henry Clark. Not including the winner, who finished third in the Grade 1 United Nations last year, there were three graded winners in the field, plus, the runnerup and third-place finisher came back to win their next races with 94 Beyer’s. Papal Law was on a nice roll prior to going on the break and could take a big step forward with a race behind him. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:35 GP 11th CHARGES DROPPED (#5, 8-1) among the many logical contenders in wide open 3yo filly stakes. May offer some value stepping off maiden win when showing improvement with addition of blinkers. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:55 LAD 6th HISSY MISSY (#5, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:02 WO 10th MUCHACHA (#2, 6-1) came from a stalking position to graduate off a layoff for $50K on the dirt at Churchill May 8, from which the runner-up exited to crush $75K maidens there with a 65 Beyer. She could mow down all the speed in this N1X. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:08 GP 12th VELVET ISLE (#8, 12-1) looks like a need the lead type but never given that opportunity after big of a sluggish beginning last time. Gets one more chance to get brave at what could be fair price if breaking cleaner to control this one from the outset. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:21 LAD 7th CAVIAR RESOLUTION (#9, 8-1) is by a 14% debut turf sire. Her dam missed the board in only grass start. One of five sibs won on the sod. Turf Tomlinson is a solid 310 and this filly is a hard trier in general and those sorts often take to a new surface. This barn is 19% first turf. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

6:31 WO 11th HALF LIT (#10, 12-1) is by last year’s leading Canadian freshman sire Reload. The chestnut has been working right along for a trainer with a 13% strike rate with firsttimers over the past five years ($1.13 ROI). -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

7:46 LS 9th EXPECT THE BOSS (#7, 4-1) is a February foal who debuted last out at Churchill Downs. She is from a mare who won four races, placed in four stakes, and banked $124K. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
