Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 2:29 LRL 5th ODINSON (#6, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman). 3:25 WO 5th SEATTLE CAUSEWAY (#2, 6-1) set tepid fractions in lane 1 on the inner turf before fading to fourth in her second start back. She's being reunited with Salles and could take some catching with the rail in lane 4. -Ron Gierkink 3:54 MTH 7th EDDIE THE GREAT (#8, 12-1) made a mid-race run to get closer to the leaders, but then ran into some traffic problems in the stretch before showing some decent late foot and galloping out nicely in a good effort in that first start off the short freshening; looking for him to make amends here in his first start off the Claudio Gonzalez claim. -Kenny Peck 3:55 LRL 8th SPORTS EDITOR (#8, 10-1) had everything his own way when wiring the field in first turf start of the year. Got all lathered up around the neck in subsequent second-level allowance at Monmouth, prompted the winner's pace three wide, was hard-ridden entering the second turn, then only finished evenly. The seventh-finisher next took a $22,000 claimer at Monmouth with an 85 Beyer. He could be in trouble as it pertains to race shape as he likes to race near the front, and there are other speeds entered. Perhaps he'll attempt rating tactics, and he did finish first coming from off the pace last year at Delaware. Barn went 4 for 13 (31%, $3.95 ROI) between 4/19 and 6/8. -Dan Illman 3:57 WO 6th NEXT PITCH (#2, 6-1) and SPEEDEEMAN (#6, 9-2) are two fast-working sons of 13% debut sire Souper Speedy. 4yo NEXT PITCH is the first foal from stakes-winning sprinter Green Doctor. 3yo SPEEDEEMAN goes with blinkers and was a $58K purchase at the Canadian Premier Yearling Sale. -Ron Gierkink  4:00 SA 1st A return to six furlongs on the main turf oval gives front-runner MOON ICE (#5, 7-2) a shot to wire this Cal-bred allowance turf sprint. Last out racing six and a half on the hill, 'ICE set a strong pace and tired to third. It was a decent effort againt winners following a maiden win at this six-furlong distance. The speed of the field, shortening in distance, 'ICE can lead gate to wire. -Brad Free  4:11 BAQ 8th GRAM (#3, 10-1) got very unlucky not to win her turf debut last June; overcame trouble in a couple of different spots to win her next start impressively, then tried open stakes rivals in her final two outs as a 2yo; did not get a great trip off the layoff last time; better than she looks and expecting a better effort in the second start back. -Mike Beer 4:24 MTH 8th TAVIN (#5, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck).  4:28 WO 7th JAB (#3, 10-1) had worked nicely prior to taking the long way around from the back of the pack for second on a rail-favoring track when coming off the shelf in a slow-paced race. The move out to seven-eighths might be to her benefit and she could prevail at a square price. -Ron Gierkink 4:42 BAQ 9th GREEK ORDER (#7, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer).  5:13 BAQ 10th MORNING MATCHA (#4, 12-1) has spent much of her career going longer, and has had some nice success routing along the way, but she might be best as a closing sprinter and will be looking for a fourth straight win over seven furlongs in the Bed o' Roses while moving up in class; fits on figures and might have some pace in front of her here. -Mike Beer 5:24 MTH 10th HADES (#5, 7-2) steadily faded in the Lexington when last seen after he tried to rate well off the pacein that race, which featured a fair amount of early speed, and he was also well off the board in the Florida Derby when a bumping incident cost him early position; trainer Joe Orseno told Monmouth Park PR Director Tom Luicci that the layoff after the Lexington was due to a "minor issue that was easily correctible" and he's looking to use this Pegasus Stakes as a springboard to the Haskell, and he can rebound nicely today given a forward trip under jockey Paco Lopez, as there's not all that much obvious speed in this race. -Kenny Peck 5:29 WO 9th RAFAROO (#1, 6-1) worked okay from the gate into the wind last weekend for a trainer who hit with a longshot first-timer owned by Stronach Stables last fall. The son of outstanding synthetic sire Hard Spun is a half-brother to the rapid G2 victor Green Light Go, who notched his debut at 2. -Ron Gierkink  5:32 SA 4th Cal-bred maiden 2yo filly ODIES MEMORY LANE (#4, 4-1) can upset potential favorite/debut runner-up THIRSTY MAMA. In her odds-on third-place debut, 'LANE was compromised by the inside post. She was not quick enough to establish position, and merely chased throughout. But she adds blinkers for her second start, gets off the rail, and posted three fast works since raced. She is likely to improve a ton second out. -Brad Free  5:44 BAQ 11th Despite being meant for turf, DUSK (#1, 10-1) ran well twice on dirt to begin her career; settled things quickly when she finally did get to the grass at the end of October, then got a break; steadied at the start to wind up last and was not hard used after that when facing several of these same rivals off the bench; expecting improvement in the second start back. -Mike Beer 6:22 MTH 12th MOVISITOR (#6, 12-1) was impressive in victory in that optional claimer at Parx in his latest, overcoming an unfavorable pace scenario to win on the front end, and the resulting Beyer gives him strong credibility in the Salvator Mile, as he has proven speed and this race lacks a clear-cut pace scenario; he'll try to take these gate-to-wire and he'll be tough to reel in if she can get away with an unpressured early advantage. -Kenny Peck  7:05 SA 7th This Cal-bred maiden turf mile is a good spot to take a shot with MIZ CLUBCALI (#8, 5-1) at a price; she can turn the tables on RUNAMILEINMYSHOES. The most recent start by 'CLUBCALI was her first around two turns, and she ran well. Forwardly placed, she loomed a threat into the lane, tried to fight back, but was swallowed. Not a bad stretch-out effort; she finished second in a Cal-bred MSW sprint two back. Second time long, tab for an upset over RUNAMILEINMYSHOES. -Brad Free
