Michael Burns No turf races are scheduled for the next condition book, which begins on Nov. 13.

With most other North American sports being shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, we hope the sport of horse racing can entertain you during these trying times. Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:00 GP 1st SKYRAY (#1, 5-1) has the stride of a horse who loves the grass although he’s shown lots of promise on the dirt in the a.m. since moving locally. Did not have the best of trips when tagged for first time in latest. -Mike Welsch

12:40 LRL 1st CURLIN’S KNIGHT’s (#2, 7-2) combination of early speed and inside post should play well in this seemingly pace-less two-turn affair. Although only 1 for 22 in his career, he gave it a good go in his most recent try at Parx. He prompted the pace three wide on the first turn, rushed up to duel with eventual sixth-place finisher Silverzar, put that one away leaving the backstretch and hung in decently to hold the show behind the two favorites. Wyner barn won off a similar layoff at Belmont with Parx invader Powerful Venezuela (21 to 1) on June 5. -Dan Illman

1:00 WO 1st Seven-furlong expert ANN OF CLEVES (#2, 6-1) capped her 2yo campaign with a wide-closing third in a slow-paced event at this level. Her trainer hit with 27% of his six-month-plus comebackers over the past five years ($2.99 ROI). -Ron Gierkink

1:40 LRL 3rd Going into Friday’s racing, trainer Jose Camejo was 4 for 11 (36%, $2.40 ROI) with starters at Laurel Park and he ships TENDERNESS (#5, 6-1) in from Louisiana after an even performance in a key race. Not only did two next-out graduates emerge from that two-turn sprint at Delta, but the winner came back to finish third in the Take Charge Brandi Stakes with a 56 Beyer. Tagged for the first time, she can get close to the pace and seems a nice fit at the $16,000 level. -Dan Illman

2:10 LRL 4th HIP HOP (#3, 5-1) likely gained needed fitness when running out of conditions in first start following 244-day layoff. Broke well, tracked three wide and finished evenly without threatening those tough “three other-than” optional claimers. Drops into a “two other-than” here and was flattered somewhat when the fourth-place finisher returned to take a starter-optional with an 81 Beyer. -Dan Illman

2:39 WO 4th OLLIEMYBOY (#8, 12-1) landed on the edges at first asking in a key maiden special at Tampa, from which the winner exited to double up in an N1X at Gulfstream (81 Beyer). His Maryland-based trainer has impressive stats pertaining to this situation. -Ron Gierkink

2:40 LRL 5th TALIYAH (#7, 15-1) is a half-sister to stakes-winning dirt sprinter Mecke’s Madalyn (won first two starts of her career) by a sire that is 6 for 29 (21%) with debut runners. Another half-sister, St. Cherubin, won her debut by seven lengths here last year for trainer Corby Caiazzo, who boasts a 4 for 9 (44%, $5.48 ROI) record at Laurel Park over the past year (going into Friday’s racing). -Dan Illman

3:27 BEL 5th DURKIN’S CALL (#6, 10-1) never panned out after appearing to be on his way in this division following a crushing win in the Gander in his first start for Mott, but they just kept pressing on with him and he didn’t run poorly in all of those races; think the forced time off might be a real benefit to him after never getting a breather from the beginning of his career through to his 18th start. -Mike Beer

3:48 WO 6th CARMENOOTZ (#1, 6-1) wintered in Ocala before working fast here on the Tapeta in his last two drills. With the rail in lane 4, his versatile running style may come in handy after breaking from the inside post. -Ron Gierkink

3:59 BEL 6th Understand that POCKET CHANGE (#7, 8-1) isn’t easy to trust, for a variety of reasons, but he has shown some real talent along the way in some tough spots; romped on that big class drop two back and think he gets overlooked vs. this field as he goes off the claim following a terrible effort on dirt last time. -Mike Beer

4:30 SA 2nd MUCHO MACHO WOMAN (#5, 2-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free).

5:04 BEL 8th GOOD CREDENCE (#10, 9-2) ran well on turf in her NY debut then won easily when rained off to the dirt to break her maiden, before finishing a good 3rd in the Maid of the Mist going a mile; back with NY-breds after bumping into the fleet and streaking Boerne (was in the midst of a three-race win streak and was stakes-placed most recently) in Florida last time. -Mike Beer

5:54 GP 12th Trying DEXTER ROAD (#10, 8-1) at a little price assuming the pace heats up as expected. Had to alter course losing best chance when back for this tag last time. -Mike Welsch

5:54 WO 10th AMERICAN TAP (#4, 5-1) was herded towards the rail after the break before closing for third last time in a five-furlong allowance with no conditions that came up tough at Gulfstream. She seems made-to-order for this six-furlong N1X on the main turf. -Ron Gierkink

5:55 LAD 5th BEE BALM (#7, 6-1) tries a turf sprint for the first time but still figures to get the best trip. Lots and lots of pace in here. She has won on this grass before. That was a Beyer top only three back. Work tab isn’t our favorite but the price might be if near 6-1 morning line. -Scott Ehlers

6:49 LAD 7th HALF OURS TO KEEP (#10, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).

7:06 SA 7th FACTORIAL (#3, 5-1) can handle this starter allowance turf sprint, second start after he dueled on a hot pace and tired while racing for the first time in three months. The gelding ran well rallying from off the pace two previous turf sprints here in winter, a style that would play well in this lineup. Those races in January and February are among the fastest in this field. FACTORIAL can win from slightly off the pace, if his 1-for-17 record can be overlooked. -Brad Free
