DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, June 10, 2023
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action.
12:25 LRL 1st EVENLY DIVIDED (#3, 12-1) took a nice step forward when graduating on turf at Colonial last summer, then was overmatched against open stakes foes in first start against winners (runner-up returned to run second in a "two-life" allowance on dirt in Indiana with a 77 Beyer, then won a first-level allowance on turf at Hawthorne with an 81). Returns from the layoff as a new gelding with Lasix on. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
12:50 GP 1st SECRET TO SUCCESS (#7, 8-1) is a homebred with well-spaced works that draws well for her debut. Sire gets 15% debut winners (all sire stats are for 2YO's only). Her dam was un-raced and this is her first foal. Connections find a suitable spot and have used this jockey in the past. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:10 MTH 2nd SAVE THE FLAG (#4, 12-1) was a very good third in her return from the short layoff, closing with some interest in a race that was not loaded with speed, and she has room to improve today with an improved race flow on tap; can make the last run with a clean trip. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:07 WO 3rd HOT OMELET (#6, 8-1) is adding Lasix off a wide fifth over an inside-biased track in her return from a sabbatical May 12. The lightly-raced 4yo has been working right along and doesn't have much to beat in this rock bottom NW2 tilt. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:47 GP 5th MAJESTIC DRAMA (#5, 8-1) tried two turns in his debut and ran evenly for a while before tiring down the stretch. Absolutely nothing wrong with that effort and notice that he was sent off at 18-1. We love the cut back to an elongated sprint. This barn is 23% with maiden second time starters. Three of five sibs beat winners. Class drop hints at the money run. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:56 MTH 8th CHOCOLATE SHAKE (#4, 8-1) doesn't have the Beyers of some of these but he does seem to have the right running style, as he is at his best when he's able to make a late run and there is enough one-dimensional speed in this field to set him up; working well toward his seasonal debut. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:01 LAD 3rd HIDDEN EXPECTATION (#5, 6-1) figures a good price. We think she is better now than when last seen here. This filly got a taste of winning at Delta and then won her next two starts. Folks, that isn't easy. Her last two starts weren't quite as good so the short rest might help. Local works are a plus and this barn is 18% when returning a horse between 61-180 days. Said barn shows a big profit when Rodriguez rides for them. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:45 WO 8th RIFLING (#3, 8-1) is a DRF Best (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:55 MTH 10th LEO MONTE (#3, 20-1) had some early trouble in that return from the layoff, then was caught wide on the far turn, but he showed some late interest in the back of the field as they passed the wire and he galloped out nicely; he has more speed than he showed in that pace-packed allowance race and he should be expected to be more engaged right out of the gate today. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:57 LAD 5th ROYA (#5, 6-1) tried the turf for only the second time in her most recent and she out ran her odds. She was stuck in the 10 hole which did not help matters and then caught a good sod. That was a Beyer top only three back even if on the dirt. This filly is bred to like the grass with her 319 turf Tomlinson. She is bred to love a flat mile with her distance Tomlinson of 388. This barn is 12% on the green. Class drop rounds out the appeal. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:22 GP 10th TIGRE (#6, 12-1) is the value. We love the jock switch to Jaramillo. Works are well spaced. This gelding ran a better than it looks 4th in his debut and that was after breaking last so we think he is capable when fresh. We also think this gelding has matured a lot since last seen as a 2YO and that means faster. Race flow is only average for this closer if looking for a knock. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:23 MTH 11th DISAPPEARANCE (#6, 5-1) stretches out after sprinting in his career debut and this barn excels with both angles, winning at 29% with horses in their second career starts and also at 22% with horses stretching out; kin to eight-time stakes winner Bankit, who earned over $1.4 million and was at his best going long. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:51 GP 11th SHALL RETURN (#5, 5-1) is the fresh face from Tampa that goes third off the layoff. She got a 64 Beyer in her only race on this Tapeta. She wants to pass runners and gets good race flow. Works are very sharp including that bullet blow out on the 4th. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:07 CBY 1st SAVONA (#6, 8-1) is by a 15% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. One of four sibs won on the grass with another having hit the board. This filly has speed and draws outside which helps the trip. Turf and distance Tomlinsons are quite good at 313/404. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:40 GG 10th MYSTIC TBILISI (#4, 5-1) had contrasting results in $12,500 claimers for non-winners of two earlier this spring. He closed from fourth to win at that level on April 14, but was last of five from a rail post on May 19. Mystic Tbilisi breaks from post 4 in this conditional $5,000 claimer at six furlongs and that draw should help his stalking style in a race expected to have a strong pace. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:55 SA 7th SELENAIA (#4, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Brad Free). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:07 CBY 5th ROSES BY LIAM (#3, 6-1) is by a 10% debut turf sire. His dam went 4-0-0-1 on the green for 4K. One of two sibs won the green and is a multiple grass winner of 48K. Current form is sharp especially if you agree with us that his most recent was better than it looks. This barn is solid on the turf and with their allowance foes (14% and 20%). -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
8:37 CBY 6th HAPPY DANCER (#4, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
