DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, July 6, 2024
?q=100)
Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:55 GP 1st INSOLENT (#11, 8-1) is by a 14% debut sire. His dam was un-raced and this is her first foal to race. Works are perfect and this is a good spot for a first time starter. – Scott Ehlers
1:34 BAQ 3rd The recent form of FORE HARP (#6, 8-1) looks pretty inconsistent, but it's easy to make excuses for some of his poor results, such as when he chased wide in a race that collapsed last time, or got involved in a wicked pace on dirt last October; his best turf sprint efforts put him in the mix here, and he's most dangerous when he can make the lead; looks like he should have a chance to control the pace from the outside and will be a square price. – David Aragona
2:44 MTH 5th FLY FLY AWAY (#1, 6-1) couldn't catch Wood Be Wild last time but Fly Fly Away is a three-time winner on grass and should improve with the surface switch. He should also get a cozy trip leaving from the inside post. – Randy Goulding
2:51 WO 4th PHILLIP MY WINE (#3, 6-1) got away slowly before closing from ninth to fourth and then galloped out far in front when debuting vs. OS/$40K stock. This open maiden special over the same course and distance of his race doesn't look overly tough, and the half-brother to stakes-placed Hunt Master could be dangerous at a square price. – Ron Gierkink
3:08 BAQ 6th ROYAL MAJESTY (#3, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (David Aragona).
4:31 GP 8th URBAN LEGEND (#7, 3-1) is by a 13% debut turf sire. His dam went 13-3-2-3 on the green for 319K. Two sibs tried the grass and did the following: 7-0-3-1 for 60K and 2-1-0-0 for 11K. This colt has speed and draws outside main pace foes. – Scott Ehlers
4:59 WO 8th GAL IN A RUSH (#2, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).
6:03 WO 10th HYPER AWAKENING (#11, 20-1) is adding Lasix after coming up empty in her $25K seasonal bow on the Tapeta, over which she graduated in her only other outing in December. The daughter of Hyper is bred for the grass on both sides of her pedigree and could crack pose a challenge in this main turf sprint with apprentice Aebly taking over. – Ron Gierkink
6:05 LRC 5th SKY CLOUD (#1, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Michael Hammersly).
