Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 11:45 AQU 1st HAPPY'S SMILE (#8, 9-2) missed a lot of time after debuting in the slop as a 2yo, then caught another wet track and was caught dueling the pace before weakening in his first start back; good effort last time when finishing up well after having to alter course all the way to the outside in the stretch, before making gound to just miss third; well-bred filly might be set to put it all together and moving outside helps. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:10 LRL 2nd VERBIER (#10, 12-1) suffered from a terrible trip at Monmouth last time. Fell on his face at the start and spotted the field several lengths, then was hung four wide on the first turn in a race where they ran 1-2 all the way around. Continued three/four wide on the backstretch, then still tried pretty hard along the rail for fourth in a race that produced two next-out winners (the runner-up has won three of his next five with a 78 Beyer top). -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:14 AQU 2nd FULL MOON FEVER (#4, 6-1) was a big price returning from the layoff last time and nearly pulled off the upset in that spot after coming wide from the back sprinting; proved that he is still capable with that effort despite ultimately weakening late; gets a bit more distance tuis time with Davis taking over. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:20 TAM 1st SEVENTY SEVENTYCAT (#1, 15-1) doesn't have the Beyers of the favorites in this field but he has improved steadily since returning from the layoff back in November, and he comes off a couple of third-place finishes where he ran deceptively well; stone closer should be nicely set up, with a couple of pure speeds to his inside. -Kenny Peck | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:31 GP 4th JAN'S GIRL (#8, 6-1) has chased Sand and Sea home in each of their last two meetings but latter might not see front end as readily with Time Passage in this lineup. Got closer to that nemesis last time, third could prove the charm today. -Mike Welsch | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:52 TAM 2nd LITTLE KENDALL (#4, 12-1) is the first starter out of an unraced dam but sire Good Magic has done very well with his firsters, clicking at almost 28% with his debut runners thus far; trainer Rafael Romero won with two of his four firsters in maiden claimers at Tampa in 2023. -Kenny Peck 1:22 TAM 3rd PASTA SALAD RHONDA (#2, 5-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:10 LRL 6th WORKIN ON A DREAM (#6, 10-1) takes needed drop after dreadful running line against $12,000 starter-optionals. Bumped lightly at the start, he stalked a moderate pace three wide and in between, was outpaced four wide on the turn, then was basically distanced. The seventh-finisher returned to win an $8,000 claimer with a 76 Beyer. Veteran must prove he can still step, but has back class, and outran his 22-1 odds the last time he went third after a layoff of six months or greater. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:38 LRL 7th What looked like a suspicious drop turned into an authoritative win for SOUTHERN DISTRICT (#8, 8-1) as he sat a second-over trip, attacked outside on the second turn, then was on his way. New barn doesn't claim many, but went 2 for the last 5 with the move on dirt. -Dan Illman | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:41 GP 8th CELLIST (#8, 12-1) back to preferred surface after big one behind synthetic loving Wolfie's Dynaghost in '23 finale. Might take advantage of lack of pace in this lineup to try to steal this one ala that near miss in G3 Sycamore when loose on the lead before being caught late by Appleby's 5/2 favorite Bold Act. -Mike Welsch | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:45 GP 10th Shooting for the fences a bit with ACCOMPLISHED GIRL (#3, 20-1) who was probably best last time in two turn bow after fanning wide, dropping narrow decision to rail skimming winner. Continues to train like a monster. Added distance the question, must avoid potential early conflict with fleet California invader Ruby Nell. -Mike Welsch | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:10 OP 6th LEAGUE OF LEGENDS (#5, 10-1) gets a conditioned spot after facing open foes last out at Oaklawn. He hooked some quality rivals in the race that went in good time. RAM makes his first start since Sar, but owns the field's best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:35 AQU 10th MANDATORY (#1A, 6-1) caught a second consecutive wet, sealed track last time when trying gamely in a race that wasn't coming back to him in the late stages; has kept good form since taking slight class relief early last year and will appreciate getting back over fast dirt, should those conditions prevail. -Mike Beer | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:44 OP 7th BOW DRAW (#11, 12-1) is back in a conditioned spot after the stakes start and note the first two finishers from the race she exits were to run back Saturday at Sam Houston in the Grade 3, $300K Houston Ladies Classic. -Mary Rampellini | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:55 GP 12th Tons of options in this one. Giving the nod to WEBSLINGER (#5, 15-1) who is a neck and a head away from being a two time G1 winner coming in here after dropping a couple of heartbreaking decision to nemesis Program Trading in the Hollywood Derby And Saratoga Derby during latter part of '23. Does face elders for first time here. -Mike Welsch | Bet this race with DRF Bets 5:22 OP 8th MAJOR BLUE (#11, 12-1) has recency on EASY ACTION and that might be a little more significant than usual this week after a recent winter storm led to the closure of the local track for training for 10 days. Both horses appear to be based at Oaklawn. -Mary Rampellini | Bet this race with DRF Bets 7:08 GG 6th A drop in class, and the likelihood of a stalking trip, can help MISCHIEVOUS PIRATE (#3, 5-1) win for the second time in three starts in this conditional $5,000 claimer at 5 1-2 furlongs. Mischievous Pirate has a favorable draw in post 3 in this field of eight, outside of AMANOFMYSTATURE and Jersey Babe who are likely to show speed. -Steve Andersen | Bet this race with DRF Bets
