Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 11:45 GP 1st Lots of options to start the day, will try STORMY DERBY DAY (#1, 6-1) coming off credible effort despite tough trip. Should offer some value in wide open affair. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:05 TAM 1st PERFETTO (#5, 5-2) couldn’t handle the class rise last time when he tried open claimers but he’s clearly going to be tough back in with restricted runners; he was off the board there but he actually ran deceptively well, closing with relative interest and galloping out strongly past the wire. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:20 AQU 1st VOICE OF SPRING (#3, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 12:33 TAM 2nd DON’T MAKE ME BEG (#8, 5-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:20 AQU 3rd MEETMEINCALI (#2, 10-1) tired in his debut over synthetic at Golden Gate then took a nice step forward when switched to dirt for his second start, where he showed speed before taking over easily, and then powered clear once getting straightened away in the stretch; logical spot for his NY debut first with Englehart. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:40 GP 5th HEART OF GOD (#1, 20-1) gets big rider switch and a little class relief to boot. Add in likelihood of a hot pace and this filly might be along in time at a decent price. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 1:53 LRL 4th PENGUIN POWER (#3, 6-1) compiled an enviable record at Charles Town with 13 wins from 18 starts and he proved that he can step on this circuit with a game third-place finish in the Dave’s Friend following a 77-day layoff. He pressed 25 to 1 shot Charge to Victory (finished sixth) through manageable fractions, made the front in upper stretch and just couldn’t fend off the closers in the final half-furlong. Expecting him to be forwardly-placed once again. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:04 TAM 5th WHAT A KNOCKOUT (#11, 30-1) was left with too much to do after she broke slowly from the rail but she was actually rolling in the lane and past the wire, an effort that is much better than the running line indicates; not sure whether she’s good enough even with a clean trip but she’s certainly worth considering given her upside, as the price should be very enticing. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:10 GP 6th COMEDY TOWN (#6, 4-1) bred for the turf by Speightstown out of a Grade 3 winning mare with some decent main track works on the resume’. Might be worth a flyer at first asking. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:23 LRL 5th AIR TOKEN (#6, 5-1) should appreciate turning back in distance after chasing Pegasus World Cup probable Harpers First Ride in the nine-furlong Native Dancer. Taken in hand to race midpack, he advanced along the inside before splitting horses turning into the stretch. He flattened out noticeably, but can get closer to the pace in this spot and trainer Jose Corrales is 3 for the last 11 (27%, $5.85 ROI) with older (4-year-olds and upward) dirt routers in Laurel Park non-graded stakes. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 2:50 AQU 6th SWEET KISSES (#7, 9-2) finished behind several of these while catching a wet track for the fourth straight time on dirt, but she didn’t run poorly at all that day while widest throughout and staying on to the end; good effort two back as well while just failing to last after taking charge going seven. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:07 TAM 7th FOREMAN (#7, 12-1) was hurt by a slow start in his debut, a race that came up very fast, but he showed enough late foot to suggest he’d run well with a clean getaway, and he returned to run a big race to break his maiden last time, another above-par race in terms of Beyers; meets winners for the first time but he may be good enough with another step forward for leading trainer Gerald Bennett, and he gets Lasix for the first time. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:30 SA 2nd FLY BUDDY FLY (#6, 8-1) made a smart midrace move before flattening out in his first route at DMR Sept. 7. He’s been freshened since and this kin to multiple turf winner Fly to Mars has worked well and may be primed for a top try. – Michael Hammersly | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:46 GP 9th LAST JUDGMENT (#3, 9-2) more a sprinter than distance horse but did win around two turns early at 3 and liked the way he galloped out against significantly tougher in the Mr Prospector. Should offer a little value against the mainstays in this category. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 3:53 LRL 8th SHACKQUEENKING (#7, 7-2) exits a game victory in the Howard County Stakes. Hung out three wide and in between horses entering the backstretch, he inched up outside on the second turn, made the front in upper stretch and fended off the runner-up’s strong rail re-rally. Although both of his victories have come around two turns, he’s run well going shorter. Two back, at a one-turn mile, he set a pressured pace along the rail before succumbing to favored Hello Hot Rod. Versatile running style likely has him rallying from midpack here. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:20 AQU 9th CRITICAL VALUE (#5, 5-1) has something to prove here as she looks to rebound from a pair of below-par efforts, though she was never winning the Empire Distaff two back and she received an oddly unaggressive ride last time after breaking fine from the rail; won the Maid of the Mist over this trip last year and earned the top figure of her career three starts back, also over a one-turn mile. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets 4:23 LRL 9th SILVER SUN (#7, 10-1) exits a useful effort in second start off the McMullen claim. Off slow, he went up into the second flight while three wide behind slow fractions. The pace didn’t come back as the two favorites controlled the race throughout and Silver Sun was outrun in between horses in the final three-sixteenths. That heat produced two next-out winners (third-finisher Bribery returned to win an allowance at Charles Town with a 63 Beyer while sixth-runner Passage of Lines came back to beat $20,000 sellers here with a 57). This might be a hidden class drop and he should get a bit more pace to attack. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
