Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:18 TAM 1st MILCHIN (#5, 5-1) sports some sharp works for his first start since October and his debut effort at Gulfstream was decent enough to suggest he's good enough to win this with a mild move forward; proven early speed should mean he's a factor from the bell. -Kenny Peck  12:48 TAM 2nd FURY KAP (#7, 12-1) hasn't been close on the wire in three starts since returning from the break but he was in over his head in his first two tries and he pressed a quick pace in his latest when in at this same level; catches a much more favorable pace scenario here and he may be able to steal this if able to shake loose in the opening stages. -Kenny Peck  1:00 OP 1st SEIZE THE GREY (#5, 9-2) is appealing as a stakes-placed runner who will be first Lasix. -Mary Rampellini  1:20 AQU 1st HAPPY'S SMILE (#2, 5-1) was forced to race over a wet, sealed track for the third time from four starts when staying wide and having no chance with Speightful Lily (95 Beyer) last time; thought she improved off the long layoff last November at Finger Lakes, then didn't get a clean trip when behind a couple of these same rivals in the lone start over fast dirt; one more chance. -Mike Beer  1:37 GP 4th STURDY (#7, 9-2) has caught some good ones to launch career including Locked at first asking and Holy Bull runner-up Domestic Product when showing big improvement at second asking. Third finisher from that one, Pletcher's Eliminate, also flattered event returning to win MSW at Aqueduct in next start with a 76 Beyer. Addition of Lasix also should prove a plus in local bow. -Mike Welsch  1:51 LRL 4th This seems like a good spot for newly-gelded EDDIE THE GREAT (#8, 4-1) who failed to threaten in first off the Gorham claim. Tracked in between horses, was outpaced through a quick second quarter to race outside at the back, steadied in between in upper stretch when likely already beaten, then never menaced. The third-finisher from that heat returned to take a nickel starter with a 76 Beyer. Expecting a stretch kick. -Dan Illman  2:53 TAM 6th STATELY APRIL (#11, 15-1) moves back to the main track and while she was well off the board in her last try on dirt that was a deceptively decent try, as that was a race light on speed and she showed late interest and galloped out well enough; show horse Pamz Palace, also a closer, helped to validate the race flow symbol when she returned to win her next start (42 Beyer). -Kenny Peck  3:30 SA 1st First start in three months and first in California, UNCLE TRULY (#8, 4-1) can upset stakes-placed stablemate TWIRLING POINT in this N1X turf mile. Jonathan Thomas trains both 3yos, the decisive maiden win by UNCLE TRULY two back at Woodbine earned one of the top figures in this field. He subsequently misfired in a stakes, but adds Lasix (same as his maiden win) and is reunited with Kazushi Kimura, who rode in his maiden win. -Brad Free  3:50 LRL 8th We'll learn more about SPEEDYNESS (#7, 9-2) as he steps up in class and faces a tougher pace scenario than in his most recent start. He was very visually impressive in that race, however, as he set the pace inside of 5-1 Uncle Cat (finished seventh), got a big breather while unchallenged on the turn, then drew clear to win by 14 1/4 lengths. Barn went 5 for the last 14 (36%, $2.09 ROI) with last-out winners returning on dirt including Charming Way, who won the Nellie Morse here last week. -Dan Illman  3:53 TAM 8th MIGHTY GIN GIN (#9, 6-1) was against the race flow in several recent losses, and though she was just off the board in her latest she may have been against the track, as inside runners seemed to hold on edge on that February 9th card; there's speed to his inside but he rated effectively in that win against a step lesser two back. -Kenny Peck  4:18 AQU 7th DONEGAL SURGES (#7, 5-1) was first back from an extended layoff last month when having to steady away from the gate and winding up last over a wet track, after which he made a mild run and tired; future might lie in longer races but he flashed potential as a juvenile sprinting; expecting him to be much sharper for this. -Mike Beer  4:21 LRL 9th PRACTICAL SENSE (#3, 8-1) was bumped sideways leaving the gate at Penn National, raced outside at the back, split rivals from the two path after a half-mile, then got up for third late while never threatening the odds-on winner, a horse that returned to run second in a first-level allowance there with a 78 Beyer. -Dan Illman  4:49 AQU 8th OVERSTEP (#4, 10-1) might have been derailed by the pair of long layoffs he has endured to this point but he flashed plenty of potential early on, and wonder if cutting back for this isn't exactly what he needs; there is no class relief for him here despite getting back in with NY-breds, but he should be reverting to aggressive tactics on the cutback and he is going to be a fair price this time. -Mike Beer  5:07 GP 11th The veteran LONG RANGE TODDY (#3, 8-1) has been freshened a bit following game showing behind Saudi bound Sibelius in the Mr P and while winless at this distance ran a huge won earlier in career going 6 furlongs in G2 Phoenix. Note big bullet drill here on 2/3. -Mike Welsch  5:38 GP 12th SET (#1, 15-1) might be worth a look in his debut. Training well over PM sod and is a half to $169K earning turf winner Qian B C. Tab board for any further clues. -Mike Welsch  5:45 OP 10th PROMISE KEEPER (#10, 12-1) is part of a competitive field for the Razorback. He brings arguably the best credentials to the table as a Grade 3 winner and while he does face other speed in this spot, perhaps he will be a tad sharper than some of his front-running foes on the move from a mile to a mile and a sixteenth. -Mary Rampellini  6:14 GG 4th SHADOWED THOUGHTS (#2, 5-1) has the necessary speed to control this $8,000 claimer for maiden fillies and mares at five furlongs. Granted, she has seemed poised to win similar races in recent starts in her five-race career, but this time faces a particularly weak field, provided one of the three first-time starters do not produce a sharper-than-expected effort. -Steve Andersen  7:14 GG 6th CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN (#3, 8-1) returned from a layoff of more than two months to finish a troubled fourth in an allowance race on Feb. 10. For his second start of the year, Contrary Chieftain faces an easier group in a conditional $20,000 claimer at a mile. With Hanks and Artemus Gordon capable of racing near the front, Contrary Chieftain should get a stalking trip. -Steve Andersen
