DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, February 15, 2025

DRF Staff|Feb 15, 2025
Aqueduct racing, Tale of Mist wins a claiming race
Barbara D. Livingston First post for Aqueduct racing is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:38 LRL 2nd UP IN FLAMES (#4, 8-1) raced wide after blowing the break when a distant fifth three weeks ago. He was previously second in another $20K sprint in his first start after topping $10K maidens and is dropping in for $12.5K. – Ron Gierkink

12:49 GP 2nd ROCK N ROLL BOLT (#3, 5-1) might fly a little under the radar shipping in from Fair Grounds where he held own against seemingly better than these on turf. Ships locally to face Fla. breds for first time while adding blinker for the occasion. Synthetic strip the question mark but price should be right. – Mike Welsch

1:10 AQU 1st BUBBE DEAREST (#6, 7-2) failed as the favorite in her two most recent starts, but she ran pretty well in that first one when chasing a fast pace for the level and just getting outfinished by a rival rallying up the rail late; starts back at a lower level with Lasix on, and she has speed. – Mike Beer

1:37 AQU 2nd ANTONIO OF VENICE (#1, 6-1) was the leading NY-bred 3yo sprinter early last year following dominant wins in the Damon Runyon and the Times Square division of the stallion series, the latter with a big 91 Beyer; missed some time after that and he has caught two wet tracks since returning, including that first start back when dueling a fast pace; giving him one more chance as he goes third off the layoff - hopefully over a fast track. – Mike Beer

2:16 GP 5th BODACIOUS BREN (#2, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch).

3:08 LRL 7th CATALEYA STRIKE (#5, 6-1) displayed good nine-furlong form in the fall and the late bloomer came from off a slow pace for second most recently in a contentious conditioned allowance/optional claimer. – Ron Gierkink

3:39 LRL 8th CELTIC CONTENDER (#3, 3-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink).

4:06 AQU 7th THIRTEEN RED FLAGS (#1, 8-1) tried turf and then a stakes race to no avail prior to getting a break for most of the summer and fall; she has hit the board on all three starts since returning from the layoff, including a near-miss over this distance two starts back after a premature move; fits well here and will be a fair price. – Mike Beer

4:52 GP 10th TITO'S CALLING (#5, 20-1) drops to arguably her weakest spot since winning a somewhat similarly conditioned event over Woodbine turf. Recent main track works say he's sitting on a good one today. – Mike Welsch

6:23 OP 10th BRAHMS IMAGE (#2, 4-1) cuts back to the one turn configuration of his last win on form. – Mary Rampellini
