DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, December 5, 2020

DRF Staff|Dec 04, 2020
Cool Arrow wins the Smile Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Ryan Thompson/Coglianese Photos Cool Arrow, winning the Smile Sprint on Sept. 5, might ship to Keeneland for an allowance race.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

12:54 LRL 2nd WIND RIDGE (#4, 5-1) drops in class after a one-paced performance in a solid $16,000 conditioned seller (McElmore Avenue returned to defeat starter-optional claimers with an 80 Beyer). Prompted the leader three wide in that spot and just didn’t seem to have it on the turn. He has good tactical speed, however, and can get close to the pace at this reduced level. Might be ready for best in third start since spring layoff. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

1:23 LRL 3rd DA CHROME (#7, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Dan Illman). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

2:49 TAM 6th Last time out, REINA DEL SOL (#7, 7-2) made a big middle move before flattening out late in her first start off a short break, a deceptively good effort, especially considering it was a race run over a yielding course; dam won once in 10 starts in Ireland and produced two winners from three other starters, including 10-time winner Uber Star, who won a couple of races on the green. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:38 GP 8th YODEL E. A. WHO (#10, 4-1) has won two of last three starts including N2X allowance dash here in September. Has been freshened, should sit perfect trip stalking likely pace of Fix Me a Sandwich. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:49 TAM 8th DYNABLUE (#10, 9-2) is wide again after he broke from post 11 in his latest but he should get a faster pace today than he got in that race, and that should help move him forward in his third career start on the green; eligible to make the last run if he can avoid getting hung out wide on the turns. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

3:53 LRL 8th ALWAYSINAHURRY (#5, 7-2) must find more if he is to down the deserving favorite, but he gave a game effort to score over course and distance in most recent appearance. Tracked the leaders along the rail, eased to split rivals in traffic on the turn, altered course back to the inside at the three-sixteenths and was game to prevail. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:40 GP 10th TIGER BLOOD (#5, 6-1) has the home court advantage over likely heavy favorite FIYA, gets the call to spring the mild upset having won 8 of 10 on this strip although will need some early help with that one to be along in time. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

4:49 TAM 10th SOUTH HOUSE (#6, 3-1) was off the pace in both of her two starts to date but she now adds blinkers as she switches to the barn of Darien Rodriguez, who has gaudy stats with new faces, 2-year-olds and with horses adding blinkers for the first time, albeit all from small sample sizes; this filly has an edge in terms of Beyers and she’ll be tough if she can run to those figures in her first try on dirt. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

5:11 GP 11th DEAL DRIVEN (#2, 12-1) returns to starter ranks for first time since holding own against better in all recent tries and may have a bit of a pace edge from advantageous inside post if rider chooses to use it from the start. Veteran could get brave if able to clear off early on. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

8:35 RP 2nd U S HERO (#3, 7-2) has moved forward with each of his recent starts and seems poised to graduate soon. He also owns the field’s best last-race and career Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets

9:31 RP 4th GRANNY JEWELL (#8, 4-1) has done her best work to date on turf, but for the move back to the main track turned a bullet three-eighths. She’s also well-spotted, as she returns to the maiden claiming ranks. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
