DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, August 6, 2022

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:15 MTH 1st SOULSTONE (#9, 15-1) was off the board in that last try at Penn but she was moving very well through the wire and galloped out nicely past the wire, suggesting, at the very least, that she will appreciate this slightly added distance; can make the last run given some pace help. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:32 WO 2nd SOUPER SINCLAIR (#10, 12-1) worked decently from the gate last weekend for a good first-out trainer. The daughter 16% 2yo debut sire Souper Speedy is a half-sister to a stakes-placed juvenile. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:36 MTH 4th STARSHIP MALLOMAR (#2, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:04 WO 3rd LEGAL STEPS (#6, 12-1) raced wide throughout before ending up 3 1/2 lengths back in sixth last time in a higher five-furlong inner turf dash. She could break through here with Nicholls replacing the bug. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:44 LRL 5th AMICALOLA FALLS (#7, 6-1) was wired over a speed-favoring track two back, then was a bit unlucky over sloppy going three weeks ago. Broke sharp in the latter race, stalked the favored winner's slow pace three wide, dropped inside on the turn and was steadied hard off heels, then re-rallied for a minor award. Finished ahead of four of these rivals that afternoon. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:16 LRL 6th NOTION TO TAPIT (#1, 12-1) stumbled to his nose at the start two back at Laurel, eased to the five path turning for home and got up for third behind Krug (returned to win three of his next four starts). Likely gained fitness in return from 234-day layoff last month at Colonial. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:46 WO 6th GAL WONDER (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:09 LAD 4th DROP DEAD SEXY (#10, 12-1) obviously needed her return try three back just look at the tote when sent off at 8-1 versus only 8 foes. She won easy two back and did so with a Beyer top of 77. Her most recent came on the green and again she won easy but she isn't bred to like the grass (232 turf Tomlinson). We think this filly is simply feeling great, draws well, and is the best outside speed. Lone knock is that the Wilson barn is only 4% in stakes. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:10 MED (Harness) 11th INCOMMUNICADO (#11, 15-1) went a big mile here three starts back then was forced off the course by the starting gate in the Hambletonian Maturity and shuffled out of the race in the Spirit of Massachusetts. The second tier isn’t ideal, but his hidden form offers unique value and new driver Kihlstrom is very comfortable navigating large fields. – Derick Giwner | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:17 LRL 8th PAISLEY SINGING (#1, 5-1) hasn't won in over a year, but the multiple stakes-placed mare has plenty of back races that would make her competitive. Recent form might be a bit better than it looks. Overmatched in the Primonetta to kick off the current form cycle as well as two back against multiple stakes-winner Street Lute, but ran just fine in off-turf allowance at Pimlico on May 14. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:37 LAD 5th CITY PARK (#1, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:45 SR 1st The speedy BACALAR (#2, 9-2) may have an advantage against four modest rivals in this $16,000 claimer for maidens at five furlongs on turf. Bacalar was a good second in her lone start on turf, in a maiden special weight race at five furlongs at Golden Gate Fields last September, but has struggled this year at Golden Gate Fields and on the fair circuit. Her quickness, and a return to turf, may provide a breakthrough win. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:04 LAD 6th WHAT CAN I SAY (#8, 5-1) is versatile and goes for Tom Amoss. She ships in on Thursday so there is no way to know how well this filly will acclimate but we trust this barn. This filly was sent off as the big chalk in her debut and won EZ at 1 to 2. She draws well and has worked at least twice since her maiden breaker. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:24 GP 10th J. Delgado has kept AWESOME STRONG (#7, 5-1) fresh and fit since the colt flashed big ability winning at first asking on Derby Eve, and now it's time for another big run; edge in what clearly is a terrific group of juveniles for the Dr. Fager. -Marty McGee | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:00 WO 10th HIGH TREASON (#6, 8-1) closed three-wide for third ahead of two next-out winners when dropping to this level on the inner turf in her latest. She appears to have found her calling on the grass and might not mind moving over to the main course with Salles back in the saddle. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
7:40 WBS (Harness) 3rd ARMOR SEELSTER (#5, 3-1) comes off a nice win at Grand River on Monday and he lands in a spot where he should get a swift early pace to stalk. I see him pouncing in the lane and vaulting past the leaders. – Garnet Barnsdale | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
