DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, August 21, 2021

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:40 PIM 1st MAYFIELD OF DREAMS (#6, 6-1) exits very game maiden win 15 days ago. Prompted the leader from the outside, then blitzed through a quick interior fraction when kicking on for home with 3 1/2 furlongs left to race. Engaged in a pitched battle with favored My Dream Girl, put that one away in the final furlong and just held on to save the dead-heat victory. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:14 MTH 3rd CHARITY STRIPE (#5, 5-1) takes a deceptively big class drop for this after facing starter allowance runners and optional claimers in her last three starts out of town; she hasn't won in a while but she didn't run badly at all in those last few losses, and the runner-up effort two back when against the race flow was especially good. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:24 GP 3rd T VILLE (#11, 9-2) ran fine in his debut and that came with some trouble. It is never easy to start your career going two turns on the turf. This colt is bred to like the grass and faces no world beaters in here. Oh, both sibs won on the grass. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:41 MTH 4th I'M BUZZY (#4, 8-1) is out of a dam who scored in her first start on the turf (second career start) and her lone sibling to start, Baby Bee Merry, won a pair of sprints, albeit on dirt; this filly has some decent works showing for her debut and trainer Mike Dini is more than capable with firsters. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
1:54 PIM 3rd IMA IMA STARBOY (#10, 6-1) appears to have found a home on turf after gate-to-wire victory for $32,000 last month. She broke sharp under Forest Boyce, cleared to the front, resisted heavy pressure from odds-on H R H Jellybean and kept on firing. Up in class, but her early foot puts likely puts her in the thick of things from the start yet again. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:07 WO 3rd SILENT FAREWELL (#3, 6-1) finished a lapped-on second at first asking in a six-furlong maiden special on the turf behind FIRST EMPIRE. They could fill out the top two positions again in this stakes prep for the G1 Summer. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:09 MTH 5th MISTY TASTE (#3, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:32 GP 5th SOUPER JAGUAR (#2, 15-1) catches a race without much pace and draws inside main pace foe. Why can't we see an effort like that front end try only three back? Good sod or bounce two back is the excuse while most recent was pulled from the green. This gelding has hit the exacta on this sod in half of his local starts. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
2:36 WO 4th FIONNUALA (#6, 20-1) missed the break before passing some rivals to end up fifth at first asking in a seven-furlong event for $25K maidens on the main turf. With some improvement, he could hit the ticket as a longshot in this higher maiden tilt over 7 1/2 furlongs on the inner course. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:33 PIM 6th MY MY GIRL's (#1, 5-1) dirt races have been solid this form cycle and she deserves another shot at Street Lute after dispatching a restricted allowance group without much fuss last month. Tracked the leaders three wide, made a bid on that path on the turn and needed only one crack of the stick to keep to her business. She'll need another forward move as she returns to stakes action, but seems to be trending the right way. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
3:45 LAD 1st RECKLESS SERGEANT (#5, 10-1) did little in her debut but did get some play when sent off at 5-1. A poor break from the rail didn't help matters. Race experience is all that matters and this filly now has it. Sire gets 5% debut turf winners. Her dam went 2-0-0-0 on the green. Lone sib never tried the blades. We love how new barn that is 14% off the claim and want two turns on the grass even though grass breeding is OK at best. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:07 PIM 7th GOOD LIFE CIDER (#1, 8-1) made the first run into the teeth of the pace last month at Delaware and finished evenly in a race where the top-two finishers came from sixth and eighth after the opening quarter. The trip overall was fine as she tracked in the second flight before uncorking her three-wide bid on the second turn. The fourth-finisher from that race returned to finish second in an entry-level allowance at Parx with a 74 Beyer. -Dan Illman | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:11 LAD 2nd FREE LIKE A GIRL (#4, 6-1) has an experience edge over all. We like how she shipped and won to break her maiden last out. She is based here so that is another plus. Versatile style and a barn that is 19% in stakes rounds out the appeal. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:12 GP 8th MARTYR OF CHARITY (#3, 15-1) is by a 9% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the grass. Two of three sibs won on the grass. This filly wanted a turf route in her debut but was washed off plus she blew the start. She got race experience and that is what matters most. The Roussel barn is 36% going special weights to maiden claimers. We think this gal will like the grass. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:14 WO 7th MOONQUEST (#1, 8-1) raced wide all the way after breaking a tad slowly when fourth in his improved second start traveling 1 1/16 miles on the Tapeta. The expensive son of Nyquist has some turf breeding. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
4:37 LAD 3rd MY LITTLE JEN (#2, 15-1) is a new turf horse that is bred to love the grass. Class jump is huge but that only helps the price. This mare draws best and lures Dominguez. Added half furlong is another plus as this mare is bred to run all day (391 distance Tomlinson). | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:20 WO 9th TALLY ROAD (#4, 12-1) went three-wide on the turn after getting bumped at the break when ninth in a potential key race for OS/$40K maidens in her debut. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:50 MTH 13th Thought that return race by NOVA SUPERSPORT (#6, 7-2) was exceptional, as he put away the other speeds in that field and drew off with authority in his first start in over two years, with the final time coming up strong; there's of course a concern that he'll regress off that big effort in his 2nd start off the long hiatus but if he can run back to it he should be very tough to beat. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
5:56 GP 11th WORLD GONE WILD (#11, 6-1) has speed and draws outside main pace foes. This filly has improved her Beyer speed figure in three straight including first time winners previously. New barn is 30% off the claim. Catch to cash the one to beat. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
6:26 WO 11th STOP THE HUMBUG (#5, 20-1) had a terrible trip while stuck in traffic before ending up eighth against easier on the inner turf July 16. Nicholls picks up the mount on the live longshot. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race | Bet this race with DRF Bets
