Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook; something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day's action. 1:42 WO 2nd DIRECT DRIVE (#6, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race  2:02 OP 2nd BOURBON ON FIRE (#5, 4-1) brings good racing experience to the table. He also has an age edge on most of these as he is 4 and he owns the field's best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race 2:08 GP 4th TAP'ER LIGHT (#5, 6-1) makes her first start since she finished third in the $122K Debutante at Ellis and she beat a decent horse in her debut so she can fire fresh. Works are solid so expecting her to come back firing on all cylinders and she could get a nice trip from a forward position. -Randy Goulding | Get PPs for this race 2:14 WO 3rd HALO STYLE (#5, 20-1) can fire when fresh as evidenced by his first-out maiden triumph a year ago, and could prevail for connections who scored with one of six starters on opening weekend. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race 2:24 AQU 3rd MOSTLY HARMLESS (#5, 8-1) went 0-5 sprinting on turf last year, though she was making up ground in the stretch each time and now returns to the grass in a race that might setup well for her running style; got in a useful prep last time when rallying from last on dirt. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race  2:52 TAM 5th MAGIC BOMB (#3, 12-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Kenny Peck). | Get PPs for this race  3:18 WO 5th AMERICAN GAMBLE (#3, 6-1) found the mark with relative ease off a similar layoff in her 2022 opener and seems fit enough to turn the trick again in this $25K NW2 tilt. Her last dull race Nov. 10 contained two next-out winners. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  3:25 TAM 7th SIR SAFFER (#2, 5-1) was up against it in the Turf Classic, in terms of the competition as well as the race flow, as the winner was the main speed and controlled the issue; this gelding made a nice mid-race move to reach contention before flattening out, however, and he looms tough here on the class drop. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race 4:00 AQU 6th STARRYSTARRYKNIGHT (#4, 8-1) steadily improved on turf last year before closing down maidens over this distance in June; made his final three starts at Saratoga and ran well in all of those races without winning; trainer change for the return but likely to be a price and he fits well here in a race that looks open to several different horses. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race 4:25 TAM 9th GO MIKE (#7, 7-2) was off the board as the favorite in his latest but that was a deceptively good effort, because he was closing with interest along the inside late and he galloped out with enthusiasm; expecting him to rebound off that sub-par figure, and his back Beyers are good enough to win this. -Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race  4:34 AQU 7th STAR ATTITUDE (#4, 8-1) posted his maiden win in his lone prior start over this distance from just off the pace; has improved since then and was involved on a competitive pace sprinting last time before settling for a game second; stretches back out and can fall into a good trip from the rail behind what projects to be a solid pace. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race 4:42 OP 7th FIRST EMPRESS (#4, 8-1) knows where the wire is as a runner who won six races in 2022. -Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race 5:00 SA 3rd A better-than-looked U.S. debut by PARIS SECRET (#5, 5-2) gives her a license to upset potential favorite ANCIENT PEACE in this G3 turf route for 3yo fillies. PARIS SECRET had raced only once previously, a debut win in Ireland, when she made her California debut last month. She was blocked on the far turn and into the lane, ran her final quarter-mile in :23.92 and finished like a filly who will appreciate the change from one mile, to a mile and one-eighth. -Brad Free | Get PPs for this race  5:48 GG 4th SASQUATCH RIDE (#6, 8-1) has finished first twice in 11 races, including a 1,000-yard race for maidens at Los Al last September. The winner of a $6,250 claimer for non-winners of two at Golden Gate Fields in February, Sasquatch Ride appears well-placed in this conditional $5,000 claimer at six furlongs. He was third by a head in a race at this level at 19-1 on April 8, closing with a wide rally. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race 5:52 WO 10th FOOLISH GAMES (#2, 10-1) had a much-improved gate drill last weekend and could make some noise if she gets away cleanly. The daughter of 15% first-out sire Reload is a full-sister to an unplaced 4yo. -Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race  6:20 GG 5th TEX HANLEY (#5, 6-1) has won two of his last four starts on the synthetic main track and looks well-placed for a breakthrough win on turf in his sixth start on the surface. Twice second on turf, Tex Hanley was the convincing winner of a $12,500 claimer for non-winners of two at a mile on April 7, and faces a slightly tougher field in this starter allowance at a mile. He runs as a closer and should have something to chase. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race  6:57 TUP 6th WIND RIVER (#1, 9-2) has tactical speed and gets in light. This gelding broke from the rail two back and ran just fine which bodes well for today. Yet to try this distance is a small X factor. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race 7:19 TUP 7th KEEN CAT (#6, 5-1) is the value. When last seen on the grass this guy had back to back Beyers of 77 and 76. Is he better now? Someone thought he was stakes caliber in his most recent even if it didn't work out. New barn wastes little time finding this guy a turf race and they are 32% going dirt to turf. We think the surface switch unlocks value today. -Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race  8:22 GG 9th AUSTRALIA MIA (#7, 6-1) was a promising third as the 8-5 favorite in her American debut in the Astra Stakes at Santa Anita on Jan. 21, but a disappointment when last of seven as the 3-2 favorite in the Grade 3 Santa Ana Stakes at 1 1-4 miles there on March 12. A seven-time stakes winner in Chile in 2021 and 2022, Australia Mia resumed workouts in early April. If she can repeat her performance in the Astra Stakes, she has an excellent chance for her first American win. -Steve Andersen | Get PPs for this race
