Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action. 12:18 TAM 1st RECKLESS PLACE (#1, 6-1) is 0 for 5 on turf but has still run some good races on the stuff (5-0-1-3). He comes off a couple solid efforts in races moved off the turf so they were trying to get him back on the sod. Those last 2 came at this level so he's a good fit, and show, too, that if this comes off it won't bother him. A bullet work April 20 says he's doing well. -Michael Hammersly 12:57 LRL 2nd DESTINED TO DANCE (#1, 12-1) might simply be better out of town, but she finds a pretty soft spot after a rallying third at Charles Town. Outsprinted three wide going into the first turn behind a very fast pace, tapered to the better rail footing on the second bend, then finished evenly along the fence. Drew an advantageous inside post position, and can get closer to the lead this time around. -Dan Illman 1:30 OP 1st FIRE BRYAN (#9, 10-1) is appealing as one who has been in some quick race of late. -Mary Rampellini 1:39 GP 2nd OCALA ROCKET (#12, 6-1) is better of late but that isn't surprising for this barn. We think this colt will like the synth and this barn is 22% on it. They are 23% going turf to synth. This colt has tactical speed to help with both the pace and this outside post. -Scott Ehlers  1:51 AQU 2nd CAMM' DUKE (#4, 4-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | 2:02 OP 2nd PLATINUM GHOST (#9, 8-1) has reason to move forward in his second start since December. -Mary Rampellini  2:31 LRL 5th CROSSLAND (#3, 10-1) stayed fit racing competitively on dirt over the winter, and he showed off some tactical speed when winning final grass start of 2023. Prompted the 5-1 runner-up from the outside, took over turning into the stretch, then held sway against those conditioned claimers. Can work out a good stalking trip, but this is a pretty big class hike from the most recent turf try. Cruz departs for Riccio. -Dan Illman 2:34 OP 3rd WINGS FROM ABOVE (#7, 6-1) has speed and a post that might give Vazquez options. -Mary Rampellini  3:08 GP 5th SESAME SEED BAGEL (#5, 5-1) tried a tough 6 1/2 furlongs in his debut and was sent off at 23-1. All four of his sibs are winless so his debut price was understandable yet this guy broke sharp and won. He has worked twice since. This barn is 25% with horses that won their last race and 19% when returning a horse between 31 and 60 days (a flat bet profit for both). -Scott Ehlers  3:35 LRL 7th Although GOLDINI (#9, 6-1) has been very solid on dirt in New York, it's possible that he was claimed with a turf campaign in mind as he won twice in Southern California over the green earlier in his career. Hasn't stepped on the sod since last summer at Saratoga, and he might have been in a bit tough against those quarter sellers. Saved ground at the back, then raced over in behind rivals while failing to threaten. -Dan Illman 3:38 GP 6th TAGO (#8, 12-1) gets class relief as he tries this sod for the first time. We like how this colt puts races together. This colt is certainly fit enough as he ran 9 furlongs off the layoff in his most recent at Tampa. He has worked thrice since. We doubt that this 4YO is done improving but he hasn't won since May of last year so a confidence boost is needed hence today's placement. -Scott Ehlers  4:32 AQU 7th PRINCE JAMES (#1, 6-1) was in good form for this trainer last year before being claimed out of a win for twice this price in June; raced out of several different barns through the end of the year before Handal took him back at the end of November; was freshened up and returned for this tag last month, where he posted a convincing win over a wet track; tactical from the inside in a race where trips might wind up being very important. -Mike Beer  5:04 AQU 8th ARTEMIS GIRL (#3, 10-1) was totally ignored in her debut over course and distance last November but she did not look like a 50/1 shot winning that race while always traveling along the inside awaiting room, and she was there for her rider when things finally did open up; only other turf starts came in the Tepin, where she did her best to no avail; returns in a better spot with Lasix on. -Mike Beer  5:20 GP 9th YUKI (#5, 15-1) just didn't fire in her last two starts yet connections keep the faith and refuse to drop this horse into claimers. We can see why as those SoCal races are quite good. We can forgive that Delta race two back as the turns there are very sharp (six furlong races are around two turns). That leaves her most recent as the outlier. It was her first here and she was facing graded foes. That race came back key when 3 of 7 returned to win with figs of 92, 80, and 87. Recent works are perfect and this horse should be fully acclaimed to here by now. -Scott Ehlers 6:27 LS 8th CIRCA STAR (#9, 10-1) is by a 14% debut sire. Her dam went 19-5-3-3 and earned 182K. Of 6 sibs to race, 4 won and 3 beat winners including half brother Epicenter who earned 2.9 million. Works over at Louisiana downs are just fine and this filly gets a weight break all while drawing outside. -Scott Ehlers  6:55 LS 9th YAK (#7, 10-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers).  7:23 GG 3rd RICH GOLD (#3, 9-2) is the sort of gelding who can race near the front or slightly off the pace, and the versatility can be an asset in this conditional $8,000 claimer at a mile. Trained by Tim McCanna, Rich Gold is being given a reasonable class hike after a second by a neck in a conditional $6,250 claimer at a mile on April 14. -Steve Andersen  9:08 SA 11th IRISH ROSE (#5, 5-1) can lead this maiden turf route wire to wire, third start back and stretching to a mile-and-one-eighth distance at which she appears to the controlling speed. Win or lose, the eight-start maiden is the one to catch. She tried this distance once before, and finished second by a length with the same type trip she could get here. -Brad Free
